April 18 – 16:20
Preparing water for soaking the seed.
Used 1L of tap water left to stand for 24h.
Added 2ml of Canna Rhizotonic and adjusted the pH.
Final values: pH 6.1, EC 300 µS/cm, temp 24°C (~75°F).
Dropped the seed into a shot glass with ~40ml of the solution and placed it in a dark cupboard (ambient temp ~24°C).
April 19 – 16:20
No signs of cracking yet – waiting another 24h.
April 20 – 06:00
Noticed the seed beginning to crack and a small taproot emerging (no photos).
Decided to move the seed to soil – CANNA Terra Professional in a ~1L (or 0,5l, shame on me but I'm not sure) peat pot, sowed ~3cm deep.
Before placing the seed into the soil, I added a small pinch of Great White Premium Mycorrhizae into the hole to support root development from the start and put seed inside hole. 🌱💪
After that, I carefully covered the hole with loose soil – no pressure, just a light layer to keep everything in place.
Then I gently watered the spot with 20ml of the prepared solution using a pipette.
The pot went into the grow box, placed on a heating mat set to 77°F, and covered with a glass.
A small 2W Chinese LED above the glass provides minimal light from the start.
April 21
No signs of sprouting yet.
April 22 – 20:00
New life appears – she’s finally broken through the soil! 🌱
For the first week, she’ll be under the Spider Farmer SF1000 set between 20–30% (20–30W) - 24h schedule.

April 23 – Morning
Noticed the stem stretching slightly.
Raised the pot closer to the light and gave 5ml of plain, dechlorinated water via pipette (didn’t bother checking pH/EC this time).
April 23 – Afternoon
Still looked a bit stretched, so I raised the pot a little more.
Current light height: 45cm from the top, at 30% power.
Conditions under the dome: 25.5°C / 85% RH
Box environment: 27°C / 40% RH
Once I finish writing the code for my climate controller, I’ll stabilize RH automatically.
Still figuring out how to manage rising temps – I don’t have an AC unit.
For now, I activated a basic on/off cycle for the exhaust fan (5 min on / 5 min off) to see if it helps reduce temps a bit.
If not, I’ll consider adding an intake fan pulling in cooler air from the window or look for other solutions.
