First grow started! 2x Dutch passion's blackberry kush. I've always dreamed about getting some purple weed, and it's just impossible to find over here. Crossing fingers for that sweet purple pheno. About the setup: - 300W Mars hydro (135 actual Watts) - 70x70x160 tent (mars hydro aswell) - 11L (3gal) Smart pots - Biobizz Lightmix - Got the Biobizz nutes (Bio-grow, Bio-bloom, Top-max and Alg A Mic) for later. - Trying to keep it organic as much as I can. Will probably add another light for flowering. CFL, HPS or LED, not sure yet. It will probably depend on the temps here, if it's hot enough i'll pick some more LEDs since I don't have the budget for a cooling system for the HPS/MH. If you guys have any advice, feel free to tell me. This is my first journal, don't hesitate to tell me if I'm doing anything wrong, be it in my grow or in my journal! For the record, the right one's called Pinkie since it seems to grow faster for now, and left one Brain since it seems to be burried a bit deeper. (What? This guy's naming his weed?) Cheers.

First week is over! Seems like they both stopped growing for a couple days (hopefully to focus on root grow?) and just restarted. Notes: I slightly overwatered Pinkie on day 5. It seems like my soil lacks drainage, as I'm never getting a single runoff and it stays wet for too long (3 days approximatively). I'm considering adding straws with holes in it to help with drainage. I've not seen anyone doing so so I'm not sure it's a good idea? Just a shower thought for now. I treated the overwatering by aiming a fan directly to the base of the smart pot for the whole night in order to bring in oxygen. It seems to have worked. On day 7 I've sprayed them with very little water + 1ml/l of alg a mic. Brain was so happy she showed me the "praying hands" for the second time this week. Pinkie enjoyed it aswell, since she was slightly pointing up. Will add alg a mic at 1ml/l on the next feed, and probably start with the biobizz Grow~0.5ml/l by the end of this week. Update: Started the feeding on the start of day 12. I noticed today that Pinkie shrank during that day. She exploded since then, but I don't know if I fed her too early, or if she was starting to starve and the nutes kicked in right on time? Both plants are growing like crazy since then. My logical guess would be that the nutes kicked in right in time, but I really can't say. Can't find anything about leaves shrinking so early.

Sad day! I'm starting to think biobizz's staff is spreading BS... I'm feeding them as advised, every feeding and without checking the pH. After the second feed, Brain showed some burn marks, on the edge of one leaf, and spots on others. The marks are orange. The first true leaves are already dying, too... I don't know if it is deficiency (calcium?) due to improper pH or nute burn, or something else completely... My other plant however is doing great with those dosage, so far. Any idea guys? Update: Day 19. I'm considering the spots as being nute burn, wind burn and wrong pH. So I've rearranged my fan to not blow straight to the plants, i've watered with only water + alg a mic (that's not nutes, shouldn't cause nute burn) and adjusted the pH. So far so good, Brain resumed its growth, now 10cm tall. Pinkie's 13cm. I've decided to start a gentle LST (even more gentle on brain since she's still weak). First time, so I don't know if I've done it right. What do you think guys?

Was gone for 24h, and they decided to preflower! (If that's what is called preflowering stage?) It scares me since they're still so small, especially brain. Pleasantly surprised to see some purps so early in there. Not sure if it means the bud's gonna be purple, or if it's the usual color so early. Watered on day 24, water + alg a mic. In 2 days i'll switch back to nutes, 1ml/l. They'll probably start streching soon (hopefully).

Really confused as to what to do/how to make it better. I'm letting her grow and I'll see what happens, but they stayed too small and i'm considering throwing everything away and starting over. When I use biobizz grow at low dose, they show nute burn, when I don't and feed with plain water, lower leaves turn yellow... Hey at least the flowers are pretty and it smells amazing. TL;DR: Pissed and about to burn it all. Any advice needed.

Flushing. They never recovered, decided to let them run while gathering new stuff for next grow. The colors are Amazing, the smell is growing incredibly fruity. I presampled a bit and watercured it for 2 days. I have to say it was the single most enjoyable high i've ever experienced in 6+ years of smoking, including many coffeeshop Weeds. Trichs are 95% cloudy, 5 % left are clear and amber. I got couchlocked hard, eyes struggling. Followed by a more sativa high, but very short. Then i was left giggling, couchlocked and somewhat talkative.

It's probably me, as it was my first grow. However, only switching the brand of the spring water I used (same pH, almost same ppm) caused pH stress. I'll be more careful next time.

Despite the problems, that's the second to best weed i've smoked so far. The high is so enjoyable. I've never felt that. First, while smoking, decent body high, relaxing. Then, a more sativa high, "giggling", euphoric. Next, back to body high, hitting like a truck. I'm smoking it as late night smoke, perfect for relaxing before a couple of games, then sleeping. Would def recommend for anyone that has anxiety and insomnia issues. I sampled a lot so the harvest is probably double of this number. Not THAT bad for a first one I guess. Got another seed left, hopefully i'll do a better job.

Water curing for 2 days makes your weed smooth and smokable ?

@JUNGLE_B4RNS, quick update regarding water cure. I've watercured one Bud, dried it. And dried/half cured another of the same size. The result is scary. Watercuring eats so much volume. The half cured bud was twice as big and twice as fat. Also, the taste is so much better on it. I'd not recommend watercuring unless you need a stealth smoke or in a hurry.

Keep it up my friend, they're looking great, just grow and learn, there's no other way than to make things and then implement what can be better for the next time. The flowers are looking beautiful!
Yogsothoth
Yogsothothcommented8 years ago
@CaciqueCayacoa, i probably can't expect anything over 10g really. In 3 months, that's not nearly decent. I mean, at least it'll be purple but i don't know. Wasted time, you know?
CaciqueCayacoa
CaciqueCayacoacommented8 years ago
@Yogsothoth, also, you mention you want healthy plants but these look very healthy, they're just stunned my friend, their yield will not be a few ounces but still a good amount.
CaciqueCayacoa
CaciqueCayacoacommented8 years ago
@Yogsothoth,but how would you know if the next one is going to be different? I hold onto my thoughts on finishing this so you'll have a complete vision on what can be done towards improvement. It'll still be worth it.

I can understand you .... why don't you put some others seeds to grow with this plant ? Don't you have enough space ? I agree with you that it won't worth it to grow just this unique plant. Start over with new seeds and finish growing this plant for training. You must check your pH and your ppm's, if you wanna grow some serious plants a pH meter and an EC meter is a must have for growers ☝️It's better to use only the half of manufacturers recommendations to start and increase amount slowly.
JUNGLE_B4RNS
JUNGLE_B4RNScommented8 years ago
@Yogsothoth,alright, I see. It's an Autoflowering so it shouldn't take to long before she's done, probably another 5 weeks maximum. You can grow that plant as a training plant for your next quality buds.

@JUNGLE_B4RNS, There are 2 stunted plants. my tent is 80x80cm, with one single 135W LED. I don't think there's enough room. I was almost decided to throw away these girls but today the smaller one changed color and is now blue... I don't have the heart to chop down a blue plant :( Also i'll have to use the grow tent as drying space, since it's a stealth budget grow, so I can't really grow plants on different schedule. So... I don't know. I'll take the week to give them a chance and make up my mind I think.
CaciqueCayacoa
CaciqueCayacoacommentedweek 48 years ago
They're already budding so preflowers showed a fews days ago, anyway looks like they got stunned since they're flowering being that small. Luckily it's stretch time so it should be fun to watch. Keep it up.
CaciqueCayacoa
CaciqueCayacoacommented8 years ago
@Yogsothoth, when they bud too early it's usually that they've been stressed so she's just responding by budding asap and as fast as she can. It's a survival tactic.
Yogsothoth
Yogsothothcommented8 years ago
@CaciqueCayacoa, i f*cked up :( should they really be budding so early? Hopefully the strerh will be enough for a decent harvest...
CaciqueCayacoa
CaciqueCayacoacommentedweek 38 years ago
I had those spots on my last grow and it was due to high PH. Usually nute burn starts from the tips and goes from there so it doesn't seems like it. I was not checking it because I was using PH perfect from AN but when I got a pen I was able measure and identify the problem. I do not trust any PH claims since then because I believe their system would work on water that has already a more optimum PH level for the plants but does not works well enough as a buffering agent but that's just my wild guess on how they seem to work. I would advice you to get a PH meter and start from there.
CaciqueCayacoa
CaciqueCayacoacommented8 years ago
@Yogsothoth, sounds good. Keep a close eye, they're amidst the most critical time of their short life.
Yogsothoth
Yogsothothcommented8 years ago
@CaciqueCayacoa, Damn, I am not checking pH either since Biobizz claims you don't need to when using their stuff only. I checked the leftovers of last feed, and it's at 7.7pH (same as my water... wtf?) Last time I trust any company's pH claim. I'll bring water to 6.5-6.7pH next time then. Also, it could be wind burn from what I'm reading. I've moved the fan further away. "Usually nute burn starts from the tips " There is indeed one leaf that has a very small burn on the tip. I'll just go plain water on next feed, just in case. Thanks man.

Yogo, nice grow, I'm also new so take what I say with a grain of salt. Have you used advanced nutrients? I use sensi bloom and now matter what I add to my water with advanced nutrients their advanced technology in the fertilizer never let my water go ove 6.9 ph. Give them a shot. I used them in all my grows. I don't know if I'll change either lol
Yogsothoth
Yogsothothcommented7 years ago
@Green_inda_scene, i've read about it, but i've already bought the biobizz line because I try to stay organic, and they have the same claim (they say as long as pH is over 6, there's no problem). I think i'll just go the reliable way, and check the pH of every feed and watering. Once the biobizz line is over, I might try the advanced nutrients. Thanks for the tip.
