Onandon It’s been a while so thought I’d better get a grow started in 2025.
Just a small two plant grow in my custom indoor enclosure but I’m making a few changes after years of using Biobizz.
For this grow I’m swapping to Plagron after meeting the guys late last year and having a chat about their products.
I’m starting with Royal mix in 12l fabric pots and a fist sized amount of all mix in the centre to enable the autos to start life without getting burnt.
By the time the roots hit the Royal mix they should be able to handle the boosted nutrients.
This should see me through to week 6/7 and then support with added Alga Bloom and Royal Sugar.
Far easier than Biobizz, and hopefully none of the issues I always had using their system.
So , is it me or was it the system?
Let’s find out.
The seeds are still germinating, so I’ll update next weekend

Onandon So the first week is always dull, with just a sprout 🌱 in a big pot.
The Apple fritter is doing its thing but the Fat banana seed failed, so I tried another but that failed to 😳.
I’m not sure what’s going on with RQS fat banana autos but I’ve had 5 fail to germinate but I never had any other failures in my growing career.
Maybe a bad batch, but they’re getting the same conditions as the other seeds.
I swapped to a watermelon auto and that germinated in three days so definitely the seed, not the technique.

Onandon The apple fritter is flying, looking good and doing well.
The watermelon ( swapped the fat banana) is a week or so behind but it’s doing fine.
Not much to say really.
Enjoying the Plagron products. We will have to see what happens in week 5/6 and that’s my normal trouble spot.

Onandon Just letting them grow. No LST, no nothing.
Apple fritter is growing strong and watermelon is a week and a bit behind so it should have a big spurt in the next 5/7 days

Onandon Bit of a late update this week.
Business as usual. Apple fritter is a fast growing strain. Very impressive so far.
Watermelon is catching up slowly. It rends to be a slower strain, plus it’s a week or so behind so it’s just getting into its stride.
Since we’ve hit flowering, I’ve started adding Plagron Alga Bloom to the nutrition schedule.

Onandon My updates have been a little inconsistent, so I’ve kinda skipped a week.
My general update is the plans are doing fine. The apple fritter is a very fast grower, and very robust.
It’s been warm here recents so keeping temps under control has been a challenge. It isn’t bothered and just keeps getting stronger.
The watermelon is never a big plant but this one is pretty small. It’s a nice strain but I’ve never had much from a plant compared to others.
Not the end of the world, but worth noting.
The big take away is the nutrients. I’ve swapped over to Plagron from Biobizz and I should have done this years ago.
It’s a far easier system to grow with and there are far fewer components so it costs less.
Obviously I need to wait and see how the stuff smokes, but from a growing perspective, it’s absolutely the better of the two brands.

Onandon I’m getting lazy and not doing a week by week diary. I think I missed a week, maybe two.
Anyway, apple fritter is storming along with no messing. Just feed, water and feed and water. I’d guess two, maybe three weeks to go from today July 5th.
Fed and watered today.
The watermelon is a small plant but the buds are big( comparatively ) it’s a great strain but I’ve never had them grow bigger than about 50-60cm .
Still produces over 40g a plant so it’s ok.

Onandon Slack diary 😵💫
I’m not consistent with my weekly updates.
Both plants are doing well but are SUPER smelly. Maybe it’s the Royal sugar, but the smell is outrageous.
I’d estimate I’ll finish these in the next 7-10 days.
Looking forward to trying apple fritter for the first time

Onandon Another late update.
On Thursday I checked both plans with my microscope and they have a approximately 10 days to go before they’re ready to harvest, but the top of the apple fritter looked like it should be chopped first as it was further along.
The next day - 24 hours later, I opened the cabinet and the whole top area had bud rot. I can’t believe how quickly this came on considering I was checking it thoroughly 24 hours before, with no sign of rot.
I chopped off the top and removed it, but left the plant in the cabinet with a dehumidifier and fans on max.
Hopefully they’ll both be ok, but as this is my first time encountering budrot, so I’m figuring it out as I go.
I’m pretty disappointed as the plant was super healthy but the buds were huge for the size of the plant, and they were too close together trapping moisture.
Fingers crossed the remaining grow is trouble free
Love watermelon. Easy to grow and care for, no mood swings and a great smoke.

Onandon 52g dry to 62% humidity from a 3sqf enclosure is awesome. Very economical grown with a 150w light and USB powered fans for intake.
I have a bigger light and tent but they’re basically redundant now I have this system dialled in.
First time growing apple fritter.
It’s a strong grower but it’s the first time I’ve encountered bud rot due to the larger dense buds.mi lost the top of the plant, but kept it going and managed a decent 53 g yield at 58% RH

@ConqX, I think the buds were too dense and too tightly packed together. The remaining plant is fine and I’ll probably harvest tomorrow.
It’s unfortunate, but I’ve learned from my mistake and know what to look for next time.
wounded pal high humidity and sweaty bags dont work well this time of year! got a bag of a friend otherday was major stink sticky and the next day was like i bagged up a sheep was so fluffu and disgusting! was rs11 aswell so no fun chucking ya good stuff away!
