Sators Starting My CBD Auto 20:1 Grow – Outdoors & Budget-Friendly!
Strain: CBD Auto 20:1 from 420 Fast Buds Collection
Growing Method: Outdoors (Budget-Friendly Approach)
Soil Mix: 1/3 Super Soil Mix + 2/3 Biobizz All Mix
Today marks the beginning of an exciting new grow journey with CBD Auto 20:1 from the renowned 420 Fast Buds Collection. Known for their top-tier genetics and reliable performance, Fast Buds have consistently delivered quality strains with impressive resilience and potency. This time, I’m focusing on achieving a high-CBD harvest with minimal THC, perfect for making my own CBD oil.
The plan is simple and budget-friendly: I’m keeping things outdoors, letting nature do its work while providing the best possible soil mix for optimal growth. To keep costs down while ensuring quality, I’ve crafted a soil blend using:
1/3 Super Soil Mix – Packed with nutrients, organic amendments, and beneficial microbes for enhanced root health and plant vitality. This should provide a rich environment for healthy growth right from the start.
2/3 Biobizz All Mix – One of the best organic potting soils available, known for its rich microbial life and pre-fertilized blend that supports vigorous growth through all stages. Biobizz All Mix offers excellent water retention and aeration, making it a go-to choice for both beginners and experienced growers.
I’m starting the seed indoors on a sunny windowsill to give it a strong start before moving it outdoors once flowering begins. The entire cycle will be completed in a 3.5L pot, which should be sufficient for this hardy autoflowering strain.
From what I’ve read, 420 Fast Buds’ CBD Auto 20:1 is resilient and quick to finish, with a life cycle of around 9–10 weeks from seed to harvest. That’s perfect for my outdoor setup, especially since the British summer can be unpredictable.
I’m excited to see how this CBD-rich strain performs under natural light and my custom soil mix. Looking forward to sharing updates as the grow progresses and ultimately making my own CBD oil from the harvest!
Let the journey begin!
Day 4.
Here we go – day four and the first little loop has emerged!
I’m excited to share the beginning of this CBD Auto 20:1 grow, especially because this one will be quite unique. This project is all about minimalism, natural conditions, and realistic, budget-conscious cultivation.
This Fast Buds strain caught my attention for its super-high CBD content (up to 20%) and very low THC – perfect for oil production. Their autoflower genetics have a strong reputation for reliability, resilience, and great cannabinoid profiles – exactly what I’m after.
For soil, I’m using a mix of Biobizz All Mix – known for its excellent microbial life and structure – and my own organic super soil, pre-charged with beneficial amendments like worm castings, bat guano, rock phosphate, and biochar. No bottled nutrients. No feeding schedule. Just soil, sun, and water.
The plant currently lives on a sunny windowsill, where it receives about 7 hours of direct sunlight daily (~1350 μmol/m²/s) from 07:00 to 14:00. After that, light levels drop significantly, but this setup is intentional – no supplemental lighting, no moving the pot to chase the sun. I want to observe and document how well an autoflower performs under strong, natural light with a limited daily light window.
Later, once the plant enters the flowering stage and the weather improves, it will move outdoors to finish its life under the open sky. I’m aware this approach may slightly extend the flowering and maturation time – likely by 3–5 days compared to optimal full-day lighting – but that’s part of the fun. This is an experiment in effortless growing and real-world conditions.
Let’s see what nature + good soil can do.
Day 6 – The First Hydration: Pure, pH-Balanced, Oxygen-Rich
The little warrior is now on Day 6, and it’s officially past the most delicate moment of its early life – germination. The cotyledons are fully open, and the first pair of true leaves is starting to stretch confidently. The seedling stands tall, and the stem shows healthy colour and early rigidity.
Today I performed the first watering:
1L of clean, pH-balanced tap water.
Oxygenated with an aquarium airstone and air pump.
Water temperature: 18°C
Application method: Gentle circle around the base to encourage outward root spread
No added nutrients, no boosters – just carefully treated water and rich soil doing their job.
Although I don’t measure the temperature or humidity near the windowsill, the environment has proven supportive so far. This plant receives direct sunlight from 07:00 to roughly 14:00, reaching a peak of ~1350 μmol/m²/s PPFD during midday hours. After that, the sun shifts and the light fades. No artificial light supplements are used – this is a real test of how far quality sunlight, soil, and water can take an autoflower.
Why oxygen matters in water:
Roots don’t just drink – they breathe. Oxygen availability in the root zone is crucial for:
Root cell respiration.
Microbial life in living soil (especially in super soil and Biobizz All Mix blends)
Nutrient conversion and uptake.
By using oxygen-enriched water, I aim to promote:
Stronger root development.
Healthier microbial interaction.
Less anaerobic stress in the root zone.
While cooler water holds more dissolved oxygen, 18°C is a sweet spot – oxygen is retained well, and roots avoid the shock caused by colder temperatures.
Looking forward to observing how this approach influences early growth, structure, and resilience. It’s all about low-intervention, real-world growing – and the journey has just begun!
Sators Day 9 – After the Clouds, the Sun Returns
Following a couple of cloudy, cooler days with unpredictable UK spring weather, today we’re back in business – full sunshine bathing the windowsill, and the seedling is clearly appreciating it. On day 9, she’s showing good upward momentum, with a healthy green tone and a nicely elongated, but not overly stretched, stem. The second set of serrated leaves is beginning to open up, and the seedling’s posture is strong and upright.
This morning I gave her 1 litre of clean, pH-balanced tap water. No added nutrients – the organic super soil and Biobizz All Mix are handling that just fine for now. I’m keeping to my minimal-intervention philosophy: no boosters, no chasing perfection – just observation, clean inputs, and natural sunlight.
Observations:
Although the last 48 hours brought overcast skies and some temperature swings (unmeasured near the window), the seedling remained stable – no signs of droop or stress.
Today’s sun is back in full force, with direct light from 07:00 to around 14:00, likely peaking again at ~1350 μmol/m²/s.
Still no supplemental light or artificial environment. Everything remains natural and low-effort.
Thoughts Moving Forward:
It’s always interesting to see how a young autoflower responds to dips in light and ambient temperature – they don’t have time to waste, and yet this one seems to have taken the brief grey spell in stride.
Looking ahead, if the weather holds steady, we should start to see noticeable structural development over the next few days.
She’s holding up well. Calm, steady progress – just the way I like it.
Day 11 – Holding Strong Indoors While the Outdoors Waits.
Here we are on Day 11, and the little CBD Auto 20:1 continues to develop steadily on the sunny windowsill. The first set of true leaves is broadening nicely, and the new growth in the centre is coming in with good symmetry and colour. Stem strength is improving as well, holding the plant upright with no signs of stretching or leaning – exactly what I like to see at this stage.
I’m continuing to water only with clean, pH-balanced tap water, no additives, no boosters. Just letting the super soil mix and Biobizz All Mix do their thing. This “less is more” approach seems to be paying off so far.
Weather notes:
The past few days have been moderately sunny, with occasional clouds, but the windowsill stays consistently warm – definitely warm enough to encourage strong vegetative growth. Outdoors, however, it’s a different story: cold air, unpredictable swings, and… snails. Lots of snails.
This seedling wouldn’t last a night outside right now – she’d be a gourmet treat for any passing mollusc. For now, she stays safe behind glass, soaking up the sun from dawn until early afternoon (~07:00–14:00), and building up strength for the future move outdoors – once the weather is right and the risks are low.
Final thoughts for today:
There’s something satisfying about watching a seedling thrive under low-tech, natural conditions. No grow tents, no supplemental lights – just sunlight, soil, and simple attention. She’s doing well, and the coming week should bring the next round of leaf growth and even more structure.
Slow, steady, and sun-fed – exactly how I imagined this grow would go.
Day 14 – Two Weeks Strong & Natural Salty Signs
Two weeks in, and the CBD Auto 20:1 is holding her own beautifully. After a slow and steady start on the windowsill, she’s now clearly entering a more active vegetative phase. The leaves are spreading wide, looking rich and healthy in colour, with that classic Fast Buds symmetry already taking shape. Stem structure is upright and solid, with no signs of stretching, which tells me she’s perfectly aligned with the available sunlight hours.
Watering & Environment Update:
She continues to receive pH-balanced, clean tap water only, and the pot remains well-drained and breathable thanks to the fabric construction.
Today, I noticed white patches on the fabric pot – a common and harmless sign of mineral salt deposits. This occurs when moisture evaporates through the fabric, leaving behind minerals from the water (mainly calcium and magnesium). It’s cosmetic only and doesn’t affect the plant or roots in any negative way.
Light Conditions:
After a few low-light days earlier this week (we recorded a light intensity drop down to ~30 μmol/m²/s during heavy cloud cover), today brought back that sweet UK sunshine. The plant is once again receiving its reliable 07:00–14:00 window of direct sun, which we’ve measured previously around 1350 μmol/m²/s at peak – ideal for a low-input indoor approach.
Final Thoughts:
She’s looking compact, balanced, and ready to stretch. No signs of stress, deficiency, or pest issues – and I’m really enjoying observing how this plant responds to minimal intervention in a realistic environment.
Not rushing anything, not chasing perfection – just letting nature and a well-prepped soil mix lead the way.
Next week should be an exciting one!
Sators Day 16 – Strengthening Outdoors Begins
Today marks the 16th day for my CBD Auto 20:1 from the 420 Fast Buds collection.
The little warrior is continuing to show good progress!
After a few days of gradual hardening off, I started taking the plant outdoors twice a day – once in the morning and once again in the afternoon – to introduce it to real sunlight and gentle outdoor conditions.
Each session lasted around 30–40 minutes, depending on the temperature and light intensity.
The weather has been quite typical for spring in Ramsgate: a mix of cloud cover with bursts of sun, with light intensity varying between 600–1100 μmol/m²/s.
The plant seems to be adapting well – no visible signs of shock or stress so far!
At the moment, I’m still cautious about leaving it out all day, as nights are still a bit too cold for such a young seedling.
But I can already tell: the stems are starting to strengthen, the leaves are becoming slightly thicker, and the plant is gaining confidence facing the outdoor elements.
This is a special project for me – a true budget-friendly outdoor grow, where I’m letting the natural light and environment shape the plant’s journey. No artificial supplementation – just patience, observation, and care.
Looking ahead:
In the coming days, if the temperatures stay kind (especially the mornings), I plan to gradually increase the time outside, and soon transition the plant to full outdoor life. Step by step, no rush.
Overall feeling:
Happy with the plant’s spirit and the direction this grow is taking. The bond between grower
and plant grows stronger with every little sun session!
Day 19 – Full Sun Adventure and Hydration
Today marks a big milestone for my CBD Auto 20:1 plant – its very first extended outdoor session!
The weather has been absolutely perfect, with bright, strong sunshine all day long, delivering a consistent light intensity above 1400 μmol/m²/s.
Feeling confident after a successful hardening-off phase, I kept the plant outside from the afternoon well into the evening, enjoying the natural elements.
To support the plant through this sun-filled day, I provided a generous watering with 1L of clean, pH-balanced tap water.
I continue to carefully oxygenate the water before use, promoting healthier root development and stronger overall growth.
The plant is responding beautifully:
Leaves are vibrant and standing tall.
Stem is gaining thickness and resilience.
Overall growth structure looks compact, healthy, and well-adapted to natural light.
I’m very pleased with the progress.
If temperatures remain favourable tomorrow, the plan is to move the plant outside from early morning and allow it to enjoy the full day’s cycle under natural light – another important step towards full adaptation to outdoor life.
One day at a time – and the journey continues!
Day 20 – First Full Outdoor Day!
Another big step forward for my CBD Auto 20:1 plant!
Today, for the first time, I moved the plant outdoors for the full day to enjoy the natural sun and fresh air.
The morning started strong, with a bright clear sky and an impressive light intensity of 1600 μmol/m²/s.
The air temperature was a perfect 22°C, giving the plant ideal conditions to embrace the full outdoor environment.
Observations:
Leaves are standing tall and reaching toward the sun, showing excellent energy and adaptation.
The stem is gradually thickening and strengthening, becoming more resilient with each day.
No signs of stress or drooping, even under intense midday light.
Environmental Conditions:
Full sun exposure throughout the day.
Light breeze, but nothing too strong – just enough to naturally strengthen the stem.
This is a major milestone, and the plant looks truly happy and energetic!
From here, the focus will be on gradually adapting it to full day-night outdoor conditions, allowing it to thrive naturally under the UK summer sun.
The outdoor adventure has officially begun – and Sators is back in the race stronger than ever!
Day 21 – Surviving the Heatwave, Growing Stronger
Another exciting day for my CBD Auto 20:1 grow!
The weather gave us a real test of strength yesterday, and my little warrior is showing amazing resilience.
Conditions:
Peak sunlight intensity: around 2000 μmol/m²/s – incredibly bright and intense!
Temperature in direct sunlight: reached up to 35°C during the day.
Nighttime temperatures still remain low, so for safety and steady development, the plant continues to be brought indoors overnight.
Despite the daytime heat spike, the plant handled it impressively well:
Leaves are vibrant and wide open, reaching confidently towards the light.
Stem has gained more thickness, showing clear signs of strengthening after the outdoor sessions.
No visible stress such as leaf curl, wilting or discoloration.
Observations:
The combination of intense sunlight and warm temperatures has definitely accelerated photosynthesis and growth rate.
At the same time, careful night protection ensures no shock from the colder UK nights.
Balancing between the power of the sun and the comfort of indoor shelter is paying off!
It’s fascinating to watch the plant adapt to real outdoor forces day by day – it’s growing not just bigger, but stronger, smarter, and more resilient.
The outdoor training continues… and so does the journey of “Sators” in this race!
Sators Day 23 – Morning Calm Before the Sunny Surge
A calm and promising start to Day 23.
This morning, the air temperature was 15°C, and although the sun hadn’t yet reached the plant, the forecast points to a bright, warm day ahead – ideal for further outdoor strengthening.
To prepare the plant for a full day in the sun, I provided a fresh watering of 1.3L of clean, pH-balanced tap water. The substrate was moderately dry, and the timing felt just right to keep the root zone hydrated before peak sun hours arrive.
Observations:
The plant’s structure continues to impress – strong, upright growth with a confident posture.
Leaf spread is wide and balanced, indicating steady internal energy and photosynthetic activity.
The main stem is visibly thickening, showing natural resilience developing from daily exposure.
I’ve chosen a slightly shaded spot to begin the day, allowing the plant to ease into the rising sunlight gradually, preventing thermal shock during the early stages.
The full sun will arrive soon, and with it – another valuable training session under the UK sky.
Step by step, the outdoor rhythm becomes natural, and this CBD Auto 20:1 continues to adapt with grace and strength.
Day 24 – Thriving Under the Heat, Watered with Caution
Today brought another burst of sunshine to this outdoor journey – and with it, a true test of endurance for my CBD Auto 20:1.
The air temperature in direct sun rose to 40°C, pushing the plant’s limits under intense midday exposure.
Despite the scorching heat, she stood tall and open, absorbing every photon with strength and grace. The leaves showed no wilting or curling, which confirms that she’s adapting well to her natural surroundings.
Watering:
Due to time constraints in the morning, I had no choice but to water the plant in the late afternoon, using 1.3L of clean, pH-balanced tap water.
Yes – many would argue that early morning watering is ideal, but sometimes reality calls for flexibility. The substrate had cooled slightly by then, and I made sure to pour gently and evenly, avoiding any root shock from hot soil contact.
Observations:
Leaf colour is rich and uniform – she’s clearly photosynthesising efficiently.
The top growth is vibrant and symmetrical, showing strong apical development.
Stem thickness is improving, and overall plant posture feels balanced and alert.
Every day is a lesson – and this one reminded me that outdoor growing is about adapting to both climate and life’s rhythms. The journey continues, and so does the strength of “Sators”.
Day 26 – Dancing with the Wind, Waiting for the Right Time
Today’s weather offered a different kind of challenge – a damp, chilly start with stronger gusts of wind rolling in from early morning.
A light rainfall made an appearance too, and although not severe, I chose caution and brought the plant indoors to avoid unnecessary stress, especially with soil moisture still carefully balanced.
Later in the day, conditions improved, and the CBD Auto 20:1 is back outdoors, soaking up the afternoon light once again.
Growth update:
The structure is becoming more defined, with symmetrical leaf spacing and dense apical growth.
Stem integrity continues to improve, especially as the plant sways and flexes with occasional breezes – perfect natural resistance training!
Colour and texture remain consistent and healthy – no signs of stress or nutrient imbalance.
Still waiting…
There’s a strong desire to finally leave the plant outdoors full-time, but timing is everything in organic, outdoor growing.
Ideal conditions for permanent outdoor transition would be:
Night temperatures consistently above 12°C
No risk of heavy rain or strong wind without shelter
Stable daytime highs between 18–28°C, with gentle sun exposure in the early hours
We’re close – but a few more days of caution now can secure weeks of uninterrupted growth later on. This journey is as much about patience as it is about light and water.
Sators Day 29 – Holding Strong Indoors While Awaiting the Sun
After two bright and sunny weeks, the UK weather has taken a turn—temperatures have dropped and grey skies have taken over. For the second day in a row, the plant has remained indoors on the windowsill, patiently waiting for the return of warm, sunny conditions.
Despite the limited direct sunlight, the plant is showing steady vertical growth and structural development. The inter-nodal shoots are beginning to stretch confidently, and the canopy is broadening out with healthy fan leaves. It’s clear that the root zone is well-established, as no wilting signs appear and the medium remains nicely moist—no need to water for now.
While it may seem like a temporary pause in outdoor activity, this rest indoors is helping the plant conserve energy and avoid potential stress from fluctuating cold and wet conditions. Once the weather stabilises again, it’ll be back to soaking up real sunshine.
Observations:
Location: Indoors (windowsill) due to cool outdoor temps
Temperature: Noticeably lower; unsuitable for outdoor stay
Soil: Moist, no watering needed
Growth: Internodes extending, foliage thickening
Patience remains key, and this CBD Auto 20:1 continues to impress with its resilience.
Day 32 – Stretching Skyward with the Sun
After a few overcast days indoors, the sun is back—and so is our CBD Auto 20:1, basking once again in full-spectrum natural light! The shift outdoors today was met with bright, clear skies and a lovely warm breeze. The plant is thriving in these ideal spring conditions, showing confident vertical growth and a strong central stem that’s gaining both height and girth.
The leaf spread is wide and lush, with healthy serrated edges catching the sun from every angle. What stands out now are the multiple lower branches developing evenly—clear signs that this plant is preparing for the flowering transition in the near future.
It’s rewarding to witness how much energy the plant can absorb on days like this. The outdoor environment clearly encourages a more upright and assertive growth posture compared to the last couple of indoor days under diffused windowsill light.
Observations:
Light: Full sun exposure, ~7 hours direct sunlight expected
Development: Lower branches maturing, stem thickening, leaf canopy expanding
Mood: Energised, reaching, vibrant
We’re now well into the vegetative peak, and the structure is shaping up beautifully. Let’s hope this weather holds—it’s perfect for what comes next.
Day 34 – First signs of flowering!
We’ve entered a new chapter—today marks the visible appearance of pistils, signalling the official start of flowering! This beautiful CBD Auto 20:1 from 420FastBuds.com has been developing steadily, and it’s been an exciting journey transitioning it from indoor windowsill care to full outdoor exposure.
Last night’s rain disrupted my plans to leave the plant outside overnight, but perhaps that was a blessing in disguise—timing and adaptation still matter. Today, however, the sun is back in full swing, delivering strong warmth and excellent light. The super soil is doing its job wonderfully, holding moisture and nutrients efficiently. The plant is clearly enjoying the rhythm of nature.
Growth has stretched upwards significantly since the last few days, and side branches are expanding too. Unlike in a tent where watering might happen every 1–2 days, this outdoor grow has taught me the art of patience—watering is done only when the soil truly dries out, which depends on weather, sun, wind, and positioning.
Huge thanks to 420 Fast Buds for this amazing strain—resilient, beautiful, and rich in promise. Can’t wait to see what the next days bring!
Day 35 – Settling Under the Open Sky
This CBD Auto 20:1 lady has now officially begun spending her nights outside under the open sky. So far, I haven’t felt the need to cover her, and she’s handling the shifting weather conditions with impressive resilience. Some nights are slightly cooler, but the days bring back that familiar warmth – and she clearly loves it.
Her structure is becoming more defined, with side branches now fully visible and stretching confidently towards the light. Since she’s grown outdoors from the beginning, the natural rhythm of sun and wind has made her strong, well-adapted, and noticeably more robust than my previous indoor tent grows.
It’s truly fascinating how dynamic and engaging outdoor growing can be. There’s a deeper connection to the process – monitoring the skies, respecting nature’s timing, and witnessing each subtle change. Plus, it’s certainly a more economical setup!
The pistils are now popping with greater clarity, signalling the transition into flowering. It’s incredibly satisfying to watch her shift gears and get ready for her next stage of development. My super soil continues to do all the heavy lifting – no feeding schedule, just pH-balanced water when the topsoil is dry, which depends entirely on whether she’s basking outside or sitting in the shade indoors.
Massive thanks to 420FastBuds for this incredibly vigorous and well-adapted strain. She’s growing with confidence, and I can’t wait to see how she flowers under these natural conditions.
Let’s keep the rhythm going – one sunny day at a time!
@Fast_Buds, Thank you so much for the support! 😃I really appreciate it and will definitely keep the updates coming. 😃Looking forward to seeing how this journey unfolds.🌱🌱
