TruTraTri Thanks for the opportunity to join the contest! 👊 This will be the only long week description, the rest will be just weather + log 😎 So skip or fight through for one time 😅 Weather data = fetched + calculated + estimated data, no measurement, no control on quality, accuracy, reasonability Weekly pictures = D3 + D7 %%%%% General Information %%%%% Bubbles: 5 gal, recycled soil (6th-10th? run); construction bucket Buttercup: 5 gal, recycled soil, fabric pot Blossom: 5 gal, new mixed soil, construction bucket Training will be restricted to LST. %%%%% Germination %%%%% Day 1–13 – Week 0 (Germination) Directly in substrate 0.3L. Recycled soil + coco fibers in the middle Put in soil: 06.05.25 Popped: 11.05.25 3/3 End of germination week: 18.05.25 %%%%% WEATHER %%%%% Day 1–13 – Week 0 (Germination) 2025-05-12 to 2025-05-18 Avg Sun: 5.9 h / day Sum Sun: 41.0 h / week Avg T(day): 20.6 °C Abs Tmax: 23.9 °C Avg T(night): 7.6 °C Abs Tmin: 5.0 °C Avg RH: 61 % Avg Wind: 13.4 km/h Wind (strongest): 15 km/h Avg DLI: 17.6 mol/m² (estimated under full sun) Total Rain: 0.0 mm Mild spring week with a sunny start and cooler, overcast finish. Forecast: Continued mild weather with more sunshine and little rain expected. %%%%% LOG ENTRY %%%%% Candy Bubatz seeds were sown directly into the substrate on May 6. By May 11, all three had sprouted successfully. On May 18, the seedlings displayed vigorous early growth, each forming its second set of leaves. %%%%% FARM SAYING %%%%% "When the oak is out before the ash, then we’ll only have a splash." %%%%% Comment %%%%% We got the Power Puff Girls on the way. Go save the day girls! Bubatz is advertised as made for germany, so I'm going to go with a Sauerkraut run😅 I hope the promises made won't be as short lasting and broken as promises by Fritze Stromberg😆😜 Enough politics... Would've started a few weeks later but it says "plant the seeds directly" so I am going to do that. Enough blabla. The advertisment sounds nice including taste and smell. Perhaps a keeper; so I decided to check the impact of the shoes on the girls, if I want to grow them again. 1.) In my opinion, 3-4 gal fabric pot is enough for autos + outdoor + my climate. Nonethelss, why not beeing open to new experiences so first thing - test out 5 gal. 2.) I have some issues with fabric posts - Wind - I always have one major mess up and at least 1 broken branch because the plants were blown over. - high maintenance/watering intervall + quick dry out + if they are light -blown over - Pouring channels - you have to water slowly or from below - Stability/Costs - Probably have to get new pots every 10-15th run, probably not the highest price on the bill but I am against waste ;-) 3.) I am somehow proud of my recycled soil. But.. new experieces blabla, mixed new soil ~10€/100L and I wanted to check how such a quick and dirty solution works against my soil (I put a lot of effort in this soil). Would be perfect if it's the same because I would spare some time and money.. on the other hand if it works.. would be depressing regarding the time and thoughts I've put in my soil😂 Sum up: - 5 gal impact - Bucket vs fabric pot - Recycled vs "Cheap" soil

Forecast: Continued warmth with occasional showers. %%%%% LOG ENTRY %%%%% Preventative neem oil spray (1 tsp/L + dish soap) was applied on May 27 after observing aphids and fungus gnats on other plants in the garden. LST was postponed on May 28 due to wet and cold weather conditions. On May 29, a few aphids were found and removed manually. Coconut fiber discs were added to all Candy Bubatz pots to deter fungus gnats. Forecast: Mild to warm with further rainfall mid-week. %%%%% LOG ENTRY %%%%% Persistent rain delayed photo documentation this week. Aphids and fungus gnats remain visible and active on all Candy Bubatz plants. On June 6, pre-flowers were observed across the grow. All pots were waterlogged due to ongoing drizzle: – **Blossom** (plastic bucket + new soil): suffered heavy saturation and strong upward pH shift. – **Bubbles** (plastic bucket + recycled soil): moderate saturation with mild pH rise. – **Buttercup** (fabric pot + recycled soil): best drainage, minimal moisture stress. Extra drainage holes were added to the plastic buckets. Leftover coconut fibers from the discs were repurposed into central domes and side wicks to improve airflow and moisture release. Discs removed for better airflow and drying up. LST on hold until they recover and show some growth or non at all. %%%%% FARM SAYING %%%%% “A June drenched and warm, will do the farmer no harm.”😤 %%%%% Comment %%%%% The automatically generated farm saying mocks me. Everything was harmful: weather, rain, cheap soil, non-fabric pots, pH, pests and so on. 😡 I hope the soil recovers by itself, but this will take time, especially if the plants are so small and the pots so non-fabric.😑 The city of Townsville is under attack! - Narrator

Forecast: More heat and moisture shifts ahead. %%%%% LOG ENTRY %%%%% Oversaturation continues; coconut “wicks” still dripping. pH issues persist, especially in plastic buckets. Plants remain stunted with curled leaves and visible deficiencies. June 12–13: Bubbles & Buttercup pruned and tied down; Blossom yellowing with early trichomes. June 15: Blossom discarded. Remaining plants too small for viable yield. Broader outdoor stress confirmed; Candy Bubatz hit hardest. %%%%% FARM SAYING %%%%% “A dry June sets all in tune, a wet June spoils the tune.” %%%%% Comment %%%%% Other autoflowers growing outdoors are also struggling. Intense weather swings: heavy rain, followed by extreme heat and dryness (hot enough to fry eggs in the sun), then a sudden 15–20°C drop and constant rain. Would also discard the remaining - but even with rushing the 2nd run there is not enough time for 3rd. 😒 Despite that, Candy Bubatz suffered the most. Scrolling through other grow diaries shows that many plants had leaf mutations already as seedlings—just like mine. So... meh. Heat peaked on Sunday. Forecast: Continued heat, drying soils, and high vapor pressure—ventilation and watering essential. %%%%% LOG ENTRY %%%%% On June 17, since they’re starting to look like tomato plants, I culled the side shoots. Independent from yield they somehow should at least look like cannabis plants. By June 22, plants showed signs of extreme heat and light stress—leaves curled into canoe shapes. Despite early setbacks, recovery has been better than expected. %%%%% COMMENT %%%%% Stretch exceeded expectations, structure got better, new growth looks fine. Bubbles is a bit lighter in color but has more leaf mass. Her headbud even looks somewhat decent. Overall, they recovered surprisingly well given their poor condition. A real shame the stress hit during the most critical phase. With the root issues and resulting growth, I had feared even worse. Also lady bugs found some food. 👻 As they recovered from mid to end of the week - the weather hit again, heat and light stress – leaves folded into a “canoe” shape. Regarding the early/root development, I never added a drop of water. So even without looking .. messed up bad. %%%%% FARM SAYING %%%%% “If the June sun is hot, the corn will be a heavy lot.” “We don’t always win the first time. But we learn. Forecast: Continued heat wave with potential stress risk. %%%%% LOG ENTRY %%%%% No major changes. Bubbles is lighter in color but has more growth and stretch; Buttercup stayed greener and compact with smaller buds. Neither plant is expected to yield much. No watering given yet, though heatwave conditions may force one soon. %%%%% FARM SAYING %%%%% “Hot June brings harvest soon.” %%%%% COMMENT %%%%% It reads and looks worse than it is. I would not have expected anything that looks like buds after the horrific start and early bad development of the plants + soil. The pots get slightly lighter after !4! weeks. Much less than I hoped for at the start but much more than I feared at week 2-3. The "cheap" soil experiment is already over, as 2 other plants did not survive; I tried it elsewhere.. it works if it does not get watered for 5 days 😏. Fabric pot vs. Bucket.. well.. comparison not possible, but it worked with both and failed with both.😑 Overall, stupid start - could be much much worse. Short sun phases and strong wind gusts delayed ripening slightly. Still, conditions were stable enough for steady progress without intervention. %%%%% LOG ENTRY %%%%% Nothing major this week—plants are maturing slowly. No watering was required again; nature keeps handling that part. Bubbles and Buttercup both appear calm and unbothered. Things are moving slowly, but stress-free. At this point, that’s enough. %%%%% COMMENT %%%%% Rain forecast, chopped Buttercup to end her suffering. Nothing much. More or less everything is just slightly above popcorn, after drying I will decide if it's worth the curing or bubble hash material. Bubbles will life on, looks more or less okay - she is fattening up more than I expected. Happy Harvest Day!
Rated
6/10

Early mutations were observed in this and many other grow diaries. While most plants grew out of it, the variability in structure (e.g., 3-finger reversion) and aroma (no Candy profile, more Widow-like) suggests a wide phenotypic range. If you can grow many and select, this might still be a fun strain. But for growers with limited space or resources: not recommended. Especially not for outdoor! Rating + text AI generated with 90 logbook entries to evaluate. edit: +1 because of smell and bubble hash potential.

TruTraTri The headbud was a beer can. 3 other buds completely wasted (half a beer can each). ~suppose 150-180 without mold 😑 Still mad about the mold. So AI can make a neutral statement on the run and genetic. My rating and comments would be a bit rude 😂 Run Summary: - Pure outdoor, no greenhouse, exposed to weather throughout - Remarkably, neither plant was ever hand-watered – all moisture came from rain ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 🚧 Major Issues - Extremely wet early phase: severe root stress, nutrient lockout, stunting -Visible genetic instability: leaf mutations, 3-finger reversion - Leaf mass & light stress: especially Bubbles, very leafy with minor deficiencies - Bud rot (Bubbles): entire headbud lost overnight at end of July + several branches - Overall yield: low, especially for Buttercup (small, airy buds) – Bubbles slightly better ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ✅ Notable Positives - Resilience: Both plants survived long-term rain, heatwaves, and pH shifts - Bubbles bud structure: Compact buds, almost no popcorn (- Photography skills in the community: Great inspiration despite personal limitations in gear/skill 😂) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 🔁 Genetics Reflection - Early mutations were observed in this and many other grow diaries. While most plants grew out of it, the variability in structure (e.g., 3-finger reversion) and aroma (no Candy profile, more Widow-like) suggests a wide phenotypic range. - Bubbles was very leafy despite no N excess. - If you can grow many and select, this might still be a fun strain. But for growers with limited space or resources: not recommended. Especially not for germany outdoor! (Personal note: The AI is very friendly, I would write why should someone choose something unreliable with some nice outcomes.😈) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Contest Context & Honesty This run was part of a grow contest. While there's a prize involved, the goal was to stay honest – neither sugar-coating nor unfairly criticizing. Many diaries show similar results. Some show full truth, others only close-ups. Hard to judge intent – perhaps enthusiasm, competition spirit, or different expectations. Dutch Passion deserves open and constructive feedback IMO. It's how strong breeders keep improving. (Personal note: I would be more offensive out of "mold" anger. Some plants look exactly like mine and it seems like there was never such a beauty and regarding the pot + plant size and final weight... well. Appologies, I am so maaaaaaaad😈😂) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Conclusion: This was a tough run under brutal conditions, with strict outdoor-only rules. The genetics showed promise in parts, but inconsistency and environmental stress limited potential. No hard feelings – lessons learned, and next run will be smarter, or under more controlled conditions. 🌱✌️ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Final personal note: Faults all the way on my side, I don't know why I thought I make such an honest report for the contest I give the plants no shelter, with test soils. True hardcore outdoor, or stupidity call it whatever you like 😅. Nonetheless while flowering I gave it a second thought and protected them from heavy rain. Therefore, the heavy mold on Bubbles is not acceptable IMO, structure is open and somehow I think at least the headbud is exposed to airflow by nature. Lessons for me: My indoor soil is not suitable for outdoor without care. Don't do contets with a starting date and follow it more strict than intended 😅 Anyway, thanks to Dutch passion for the sponsored seeds and possibility to join the contest, even if I am a bit mad.😅 "You may have beaten me today, but I shall return!" - Mojo Jojo 👽 Edit for dry material: Smell is fine, really sweet. Full of trichomes. Everything is fluffy und many leaves. Would be nice to have a big load of that for bubble hash. Nonetheless, does not help if the buds are fine if there are none. 😂 Anyway, +1 star for the strain for sweet candy smell and super hash material. AI can't smell or touch, think it's okay ;-)

@MrGrowDiarie, atm the soil needs to breath. The recycled is not ment to be satuarated over days, it's more like an indoor soil. The cheap soil well it's cheap, there are wooden pieces (+others) inside for drain, but the uninterupted watering lead to soaking up. Basically, like a sponge - but the wood takes longer to take up water and to release. Overall, pH (blossom well above 9!!!) shift due to drastic release of chalk and imbalances in the microbiotic climate. As the pots are way too big for the roots; it will take ages to dry up (don't think I have to give them water ~2 weeks) - then I can add some or the soil will recover. 😋 Lessons learned: - better drain / more non-soakable material - don't let them stand around for days in constant rain - smaller pots Just one should fix the problems, optimizing would be everything. E.g. if I would have taken 11-16L fabric pots I don't think there would be any problems; except few sunlight 😅 It's not coco nor any buyable "living soil"; so it's a bit of multifactorial problem without any solution that works in an instant. On the other hand, chances are high that if the soil recovers I don't need to do anything 😅 I really would go for your proposition and give them everything they need to recover them in an instant but I have no direct availlable nutrition. This is the drawback of my soil, if it works just water, if not wait and 👏 Well I have tried to keep it short 😉 Anyway, thanks for taking the time and interest😊
the end.
