Kirsten ๐งก Acapulco Gold Auto ๐งก WeedSeedsExpress.
Hi y'all, welcome to another grow! ๐
This time, WeedSeedsExpress reached out and asked me to do some diaries.
I chose Acapulco Gold Auto as one strain, mighty sativa! I'm super excited to try out the seeds I picked. They sound great. So thanks very much to them! ๐๐โ๏ธ๐๐
As this one is a Sativa strain and therefore likely to grow bigger, and take longer to finish I've put her into an 8 Gallon pot so hopefully we can make this plant into a stunner!
๐โ๏ธ๐ฑ๐ Strain overview.
Up to 24% THC with a smooth, creative high
65% Sativa genetics.
Acapulco Gold Auto isnโt just some half-baked nod to a legendary landrace. Itโs a lightning-fast, terp-loaded tribute with all the sunny energy of the original and none of the photoperiod fuss. If youโre chasing tropical flavours, uplifting daytime effects, and a grow that practically takes care of itself, this auto checks every box. Itโs easy, it's productive, and most of all, itโs fun as hell to grow.
Youโre looking at dense, resin-laced nugs that shimmer like theyโve been dipped in sugar and sunshine. And the high? Expect good vibes only. Sociable, energetic, and just a bit giggly. Ideal for creative missions or simply making mundane things weirdly delightful. This oneโs a no-brainer for anyone who wants top-shelf sativa buzz without the growerโs degree.
Strain Overview:-
๐Origin๐
Acapulco Goldโs roots stretch back to the west coast of Mexico, and this autoflowering version keeps that golden legacy alive with a smart Ruderalis cross that triggers flowering on its own schedule. The original was a 70s icon, smuggled, praised, and passed around like a legend. This auto keeps the soul of the sativa intact while trimming the time, the size, and the effort needed to grow it. You still get those mango-citrus notes and that sparkling golden glow, now packed into a modern format built for quick grows and stealthy spots.
๐คชEffects & flavours๐
The effects are pure daytime bliss: creative, talkative, and bright. Youโll feel it rise behind the eyes, spread into a steady uplift, and settle somewhere between mellow clarity and happy head-buzz. Not the kind of strain that leaves you zoning out mid-thought. This one fuels conversations, brainstorming, and full-on outdoor adventures.
flavour-wise, Acapulco Gold Auto is a tropical cocktail with a pine-kissed twist. It starts earthy and lemony on the inhale, then rolls into a bright burst of citrus, sweet fruit, and just a little sour tang to keep things interesting. Itโs like sunshine in vapor form.
โค๏ธTHC & CBD Levelsโค๏ธ
Packing up to 24% THC, this strain is no slouch in the potency department. The low 0.5% CBD means it leans fully into its psychoactive side, making it perfect for seasoned smokers or adventurous beginners who know when to take it slow.
๐Terpenes๐
The terpene trio here does a lot of the heavy lifting.
โขAlpha Pinene brings that sharp pine freshness and mental alertness. โขLinalool softens the buzz with floral calm and a bit of body ease. โขHumulene rounds it out with a touch of earth and a no-nonsense, grounded edge.
Together, they create a well-balanced profile that lifts the mood without tipping into spacey territory.
๐งกGrowing Acapulco Gold Auto Seeds๐งก
Beginner-friendly and forgiving, Acapulco Gold Auto grows like a champ with minimal fuss. If youโve got basic gear and a bit of patience, youโll be just fine. She's robust, resilient, and handles training well, especially if you give her a little encouragement with LST or some light defoliation.
๐ Indoor vs. Outdoor Growing๐ก
Indoors, she stays nicely compact at around 39 inch to 59 inch, which is tall enough to impress without overwhelming your tent. Outdoors, expect a little extra stretch, reaching up to 67 inch from a base of 43 inch, especially if sheโs soaking up some strong sun. She also performs great in greenhouses and comes with solid resistance to pests and mould. This one was clearly bred for versatility. Whether you're on a city balcony, a remote plot, or in a full grow room, sheโll handle it.
๐ธFlowering Time & Yieldโ๏ธ
This lady gets to work fast. Flowering wraps up in just 56 to 70 days, and when itโs time to harvest, she absolutely delivers. Indoors, expect between 1.6โ2 oz per square feet. Outdoors, she can push out 15.9โ19.4 oz per plant. All of this happens without needing to adjust your light cycles or stretch your veg phase ๐๐ฑโ๏ธ๐
I'm going ahead and planting the seed directly into the soil, in the 8 Gallon fabric pot.
Sprinkling some Great White Mycorrhizal Fungi blend in the little 2cm hole, then planting the seed, covering over with a pinch of soil gently patted down and watered in with a small amount (50-100mls) of mineral water.
๐๐ฑ๐ The super coco mix was made of:
โก 16L- Canna Coco Professional Plus
โก 6L - Perlite
โก 5L- Worm Castings
โก 3 Cup - Ground Cinnamon
โก Sprinkling - Great White Mycorrhizal Fungi blend
โก 3 Cup - Diatomaceous Earth
โก 4 Cup - Ecothrive Life Cycle
โก 2 Cup - Ecothrive Charge
8 Gallon / 30 Litre pot size. ๐โ๏ธ๐ฑ๐๐

Kirsten 10.6.25:
We have a seedling ๐ฑ
She has 3 cotelydon leaves, which is interesting ๐ let's see what happens here ๐
I will be adding more perlite into the soil, as I mixed it all in layers and the top one had significantly less perlite.
Just watering when dry with un PH'D mineral water.
Thanks for checking out this grow, should be a fun one! My first Sativa has got to be a great experience ๐๐โ๏ธ๐ฑ๐๐

Kirsten So we definitely have another triploid, my first being the Purple Punch.
She definitely is growing well in comparison to many others which have had a bit of a slow start.
Overall she looks to be very promising ๐ค
Here's what I did this week, generally just making sure the pot is watered. It's hot and the pots are drying out pretty quickly.
This may seem excessive watering, however remember this is in an 8 Gallon pot.

Kirsten ๐งก ACAPULCO GOLD ๐งก
This is becoming a very interesting pheno!
She has developed 3 tops, and growing really well, nice and healthy, and is looking so far ๐
I have a full tent, so I'm considering letting the plants in this grow, grow up as I've got plenty of head space but very little horizontal space.
This one is a Sativa, and so I am preparing for a tall plant.
This was what I did this week:
23.6.25:
I watered with 2L of dechlorinated water PH'd to 6.6 and containing no nutrients.
PH: 6.6
PPM: 307
26.6.25
I gave 2l of dechlorinated water PH'd to 6.2 with no nutrients;
PPM: 333
PH: 6.4
27.6.25:
I top dressed the plant today, I watered yesterday.
Top dress:
โก 2 cups Worm Castings
โก 1 TBSP Ecothrive Life Cycle
โก 1/2 TBSP Ecothrive Charge
โก 1 TBSP Cinnamon
29.6.25:
I watered with 1L of dechlorinated water PH'd to 6.0-6.2 and containing the following nutrients per 5 litres;
โก 1 Tsp Cal-Mag by Greenleaf Nutrients
PH: 6.0-6.2
PPM: 1300

Kirsten Well this little lady is certainly growing nicely! We have some unusual growth going on here, the plant is also quite bendy for some reason. I'm not sure why but I'm still very hopeful that we will get to harvest without issue.
So here's what I did this week!
3.7.25:
I watered with 2ltrs of dechlorinated water PH'd to 6.2 containing the following nutrients per 2ltrs;
โก 1/4 TSP Cal-Mag
โก 1/4 TSP Ecothrive Biosys
PH: 6.2
PPM: 824
Plus an additional 2ltrs of dechlorinated water PH'd to 6.6 containing the following nutrients;
โก 1/4 TSP Ecothrive Biosys
โก 1/2 TSP Cal-Mag
PH: 6.6
PPM: 1010
6.7.25:
I had some water left over from watering in a seed. This was not PH'd but it was between 6.0 and 7.0. Containing Ecothrive Biosys. I watered about 1.75L of that to this plant.

Kirsten So she's grown a lot since last week!
The mutation is looking a little crazy still and I attempted LST and messed it up totally.
Im sure it'll all work out in the end but I really would like to start widening the plant and use some horizontal space while we're still in veg.
This could potentially be my longest grow, in duration. So I'll definitely need to train ASAP anyway.
Here is what I did this week.
10.7.25:
I watered with 2ltrs of dechlorinated water PH'd to 5.9 and containing the following nutrients;
๐ 1/2 TSP Cal-Mag
๐ 1/2 TSP Mega Crop Part A

Kirsten Ok so this week, I'm a little concerned at the height and structure. We all know the typical Christmas ๐ tree shape. Well, I have an inverted, or upside down Christmas tree shape.
I'm going to need to stake the base, as its very top heavy, and I'm concerned that it will topple and snap the stalk.
Also, I cannot LST the plant as necessary due to the top heavy nature, as well as the extremely thick main stem which will easily snap if I were to train her.
The plant is also suffering from light stress. The leaves are folding up, and down. The leaves haven't darkened up either but this may just be the strain.
I have lowered the intensity of the lighting a few times, but due to being un-trainable, the plant will keep growing into the light.
I'm having a headache trying to figure out what to do with her, so if you have any ideas please let me know in the comments!
Anyway here's what I did this week.
14.7.25:
I watered with 2ltrs of dechlorinated water PH'd to 6.4, containing the following nutrients;
๐ 2ml Ecothrive Trace
๐ 1/4 TSP Ecothrive Biosys
PH: 6.4
PPM: 365
15.7.25:
I watered with 2ltrs of dechlorinated water PH'd to 6.6 with;
๐ 1/2 TSP Mega Crop Part B
๐ 1/4 TSP Ecothrive Biosys
PH: 6.6
PPM: 746
18.7.25:
I top dressed with the following organic dry amendments;
As a base for the dry amendments I used:
๐งก Worm Castings - 2 Cups
๐งก Coco - 2 Cups
๐งก Perlite - 1 Cup
Dry Amendments:
๐ Ecothrive Life Cycle 1TBS
๐ Ecothrive Bloom 1 TBS
๐ Ecothrive Charge 1TBS
๐ Diatomaceous Earth 1TBS
I watered with 2ltrs of dechlorinated water PH'd to 6.4 with 2ml Ecothrive Trace.

Kirsten This week, the plant is feeding heavily and has grown well.
I super cropped the main stem to help with the plant becoming too tall, afterwards I made some scaffolding and a sling to hold the break and prevent it from snapping. It has taken very well.
Before the training I performed, I used 4 bamboo canes to stake the base. The plant had become very top heavy so this has really helped.
The plant was becoming very tall so I thought this would be something to try out.
Here's what I did this week.

Kirsten The Acapulco Gold has grown so tall!!
I've had to readjust the lights several times, and she has taken really well to the super cropping, and the branches are just growing really tall again.
It looks like I'm rapidly running out of space, which is something I wish I was able to avoid, but this is mainly a sativa, so I was prepared for a tall plant. Unfortunately, due to the structure of the plant, I wasn't able to implement LST, because the plant was top heavy, so I would have just broken all of the branches off had I tried that.
I believe the plant is just about to switch into flower, I do see some pistils, and that, unfortunately, is going to mean another stretching period, so let's just hope I can accommodate her!
I have gone through the tent this week, and I have removed a lot of the lower branches on the plants, as they're not going to grow into big colas or anything.
So it's better not to waste the plant's energy, developing those to hopefully redirect it into the larger flowers.

I've just been keeping the medium, not bone dry, but there were some fungus gnats.

Kirsten Acapulco Gold has grown out of control, the lights can't go up any further, and the plant is burning on the LED's. This really is a massive plant. Let's hope the smoke is good, as it looks like there will be a substantial amount here by the end! ๐ ๐๐

@Hempface86, I know right! It's crazy, she can take 7L waterings. I'm very glad I put her in the 8 Gallon. This is going to be a huge trim job! ๐ฎ๐๐
@Hempface86, Yes, she has gone wild!! ๐ฎ Past the light already! This is a crazy tall plant, but I'm going to have to try to figure it out. There are leaves bigger than my hands โ๏ธ ๐๐
@Hempface86, Absolutely, the idea was to shorten the plant but now it's way taller ๐ unfortunately now she has light stress.
Itโs practically touching the light. Now going into flowering and additional stretch?! ๐ฎ
My fat bananas were 7ft tall with no training. This will be bigger!
Plus this plant was a triploid, so it is certainly a learning experience! ๐ ๐โ๏ธ
