FionFion Hey, this is my second attempt at aero. My first one ended with a nasty case of pythium that forced me to throw everything out at Flowering + 1 week. So I'm trying again by improving the conditions, especially the soup. In growth, I'm using a low-pressure aeroponic system with 6 pots, under a 300w CFL lamp in an 80x80 tent. During flowering, the 6 girls will move to an equivalent but larger system (designed for 12 pots) in a 120x120 tent under a 600w HPS. The improvements I've made to avoid the infamous pythium are: added recirculation pump (1,000 l/h), bio filter with sub-culture (bio magix), and humidity managed by a misting system. I manually manage the pH and EC. I remove chlorine and chloramine from the water by adding a small dose of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) beforehand. I've fixed the irrigation system's leak issues by adding Teflon to the threads of the nozzles. Conclusion of the first week: so far, so good! The leaf development is satisfactory. The root development is okay with a slight downside on the roots of a white widow, which I find a bit brown. I'm keeping a close eye on that and adding subculture.

FionFion Great start in the first week. I'm planning for 5 weeks of growth. So I'm going to do a first topping this second week. I encountered stabilization issues with my soup: temperature and crystallization of my nutrients 12 hours after adding them. I rinsed the roots which are slowly recovering, and I treated them with "sub culture." As for what's happening above the roots, the leaf development is going well. Topping day 13. I'm closely monitoring the evolution of the roots...

FionFion EDF outage for 6 hours at the beginning of the week that caused some stress: change in photoperiod, cold and humidity, fungi. Recoverable but annoying... Trellising at the beginning of the week with yoyo stakes. Left for 3 days during the Easter weekend. Everything went well, pH stable...

FionFion Rinsing with clear water for 24 hours at the beginning of the week to eliminate some of the over-fertilization on the roots. The training promises 4 to 5 main colas per plant. The vast majority of the leaves are healthy. I removed a few branches that were touching the pots as well as some leaves that still bore the fungal scars from the power outage in week 3. I'm letting them grow for another week to consider a good SCROG during the stretch in a bigger (120x120 instead of 80x80) and more powerful (600w HPS, compared to 300w CFL right now) box.

FionFion It's time to move them into the big flowering box, they're starting to get really cramped. The canopy is even and promises 3 to 5 main colas per plant. The training worked well. I rinsed the filter of the biofilter that smelled really bad.

Nice looking plants. Can you measure the temperature at which the roots are hanging in? Just a thought regarding the previous root issues. I am a long time hydrorootwarrior, but aeroponics I am unfamiliar with. Could you get the solution temp down to 19 or 20 centigrade? That would cool down the root space. Good luck and happy growings 👍
