All hail Max Pointy. The dude can’t even upgrade a single grow diary, but can find the time to clone and gift plants. I received this plant after approx. 50 days. It is a regular veg. state clone taken off of a Laughing Buddha plant that was a monster crop clone revegged. I immediately transplanted to its final sized pot. I fed it 18-18-21 Miracle Gro Tomato food to give it a nice wide range of nutrients. It will have about 8-9 weeks of veg. I will be tying it down this week. I expect this plant to be as vigorous as others of this strain.
Approx. 64 days since being taken as a clone. This plant is really taking off and the growth has been strong. I did some major defoliation to thin it up a bit. It may have a bit too many nutes judging by the thin leaf blades. Last feeding was 24-8-16 Miracle Gro All Purpose plant food.
Approx. day 71 since being taken as a clone. This plant is becoming bushy and massive. I have been experimenting with amendments and plants foods. I got some Earth Alive Big Blue Alga 0.1-0-5 Liquid Seaweed and tried this out. My regret is not watering well after Miracle Gro and before the seaweed. Nothing dire, but the plant took on alot of nutes and took a little hit. It has bounced back.
Approx. day 78 since being taken as a clone. Last week I had given liquid seaweed too soon after a regular feeding, it took a couple of waters to rectify the shock. It bounced back and I am back to regular schedule, I recently fed 24-8-16 Miracle Gro All Purpose. This plant will be moved to flowering four weeks. I am planning a defoliation in two weeks.
Approx. day 85 since being taken as a clone. I was still dealing with the residual damage from the seaweed as I couldn’t get the plant’s colours back, and with applications of other food I believe added too much Potassium. I then started to see major spotting/damage. I am a failure haha. Fortunately I flushed the soil right away and it is in the process of drying out now. A testament to the Laughing Buddha strain, and to this bushy beauty, she has almost recovered already. I think it will still be set to flower in three weeks. I have removed much of the damage already and its regrowing the vegetation.
Approx. day 92 since being taken as a clone. Apologies for the subpar pictures this week, i am waiting to flower a few plants, and I have clones out of frame that I am giving away. I had some struggles lately, and this continued to show this week. I top dressed the soil and am trying to just give some water to let things settle. I did defoliate under the canopy this week and trim damage, but not to the extent of the past (see other grows). I will be shifting this plant to flower in two weeks. It is still hefty and bushy.
Because of the cramped quarters, and the decreasing room between the canopy and intense lights, I lowered all the plants in my veg. tent.
Approx. day 100 since being taken as a clone. Still chugging along despite all the battle scars. This plant is already as big as some I have in late flower. I will be flowering her in one week! Just water and patience.
About 106 days since being taken as a clone. I have now officially moved the Buddha to the flowering tent before snapping this picture. We shall see stretch in the next few weeks. I am about to give a hit of food to prepare. As comparison i have an almost finished Laughing Buddha plant in the foreground diagonal, and it is already as tall as that plant pre-stretch!
Approx. 113 days since being taken as a clone. One week of flowering complete, nine to go. Despite signs of previous trials, the new growth is nice and green. This plant is just starting to stretch and show her stuff. I will clean under the canopy somewhat, but will be defoliating much less then other past grows.
Day 120 since being taken as a clone. Two weeks of flowering complete, eight to go. Looking good. I fed some 18-18-21 Miracle Grow Tomato Food, with a dip of blackstrap molasses and Earth Alive Big Blue Alga. Lots of bud sites forming. Very bushy plant!
Approx. day 127 since being taken as a clone. Three weeks of flowering complete, seven weeks to go. This plant looks even better than my strawberry cough of similar size. The leaves are in better shape and the buds already bigger. I have a feeling I will get a good yield!
Day 134 from seed, four weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. This plant is progressing nicely. The buds are bulking up and giving off a strong smelling sour resin.
Perhaps a bit of light damage? Related to the investigation in my Strawberry cough clone, it seems some of the Buddha leaves near the center are a bit yellowed... maybe. I don’t really have much space to raise the lights anyway. I did what I could.
Day 141 since being taken as a clone. Five weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. This plant is visually similar to another grow, long thin branches, bulking buds, yellowing leaves. The buds were becoming so heavy for the weak stems I had to loosely tie a string around them all to keep them up, the buds were almost horizontal. This is a bouquet style technique. The buds themselves are looking good with strong, fuel-like resin. All done the Shultz 2-7-7 food, and planning on moving onto Alaskan Morbloom this week.
Day 148 since being taken as a clone. Six weeks of flowering complete, four weeks to go! Lots of crystal/resin/trichomes. Lots of strong, sweet, fuel-like smell. The buds have good size and I expect plenty of swell. Tying the plant as a bouquet has really helped keep the bud sites upright.
I most recently fed 0-10-10 Alaskan Morbloom with a dip of Earth Alive Big Blue Alga and blackstrap molasses. This the same for my strawberry strain in flower, I forgot to mention that fact.
Day 155 since being taken as a clone, seven weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. I’m nearing the end of my food schedule, and will be transitioning to just water for the last few weeks. The buds are strong, and sour. So much crystal.
Say 161 since being taken as a clone. Eight weeks of flowering complete, two weeks to go. I gave the last of 0-10-10 Alaskan Morbloom with a dip of Earth Alive Big Blue Alga and blackstrap molasses. It has had water since, and will continue with only water here on out. Nice, swollen buds with lots of resin.
Day 168 since being taken as a clone. Nine weeks of flowering complete, a recommended one week to go. I will not go right until ten weeks out of convenience, but this plant could go longer - no signs of degradation. I just have way too big of plants behind this in veg. I have only given plenty of water for the last couple weeks. This is the last look before harvest!
Laughing Buddha buds really bulk up, these things are dense. They are way too heavy for the branches and have just been laying almost horizontally.
This is a Laughing Buddha clone. All my Laughing Buddha genetics come from Barney’s Farms, basically all from one seed that has been cloned and monster cloned, and its clones cloned, etc. Laughing Buddha gives you vigorous growth, and huge swelling buds. It is consistently my top yielding strain - so that is a perk. It is majority sativa with a long recommended flowering time (10 weeks) so patience is required. I harvested this plant partway through the ninth week. It takes many nutrients and has good vegetative growth.
A delayed and long stretch period but then bud explosion quickly to follow. The smell during growing is sort of fuel like, not my favourite, but still intriguing. The size of the buds combined with the resin/trichomes will be mesmerizing. Near the end many of the buds were horizontal from the weight.
Everything went well with this grow and harvest. The taste came out very strong of a sour fuel (not sour diesel!!), maybe a bit pine? I find this strain hard to nail down in terms of taste.
Other than yield, the effects are what shine with Buddha. This is a strong sativa! I would say my rating is actually a 9.5, it is just that I prefer the concussive indica effects - otherwise perfect.
Grow this strain!
No issues at all, this was the best Laughing Buddha experience thus far. Really happy with the yield/buds. I have a full jar of just the top crowns, and they are beautiful and potent.
