Sambo258 🌱 Germination Summary — Punch Pie Grow (Started 9 June 2025)
I began germination on the evening of June 9th, 2025, by soaking all five seeds in pH’d water. After about 18–24 hours, most of the seeds had begun to crack, so I transferred them into moist (not wet) cotton pads, placed inside Tupperware with a loose lid and covered with a bowl to keep it dark and warm — around 22°C.
By June 11th, taproots had reached about 1–2cm in length, so I transplanted them directly into their final 11L fabric pots, filled with Shogun 70/30 buffered coco-perlite. Before planting, I moistened the coco with pH 5.8–6.0 water mixed with 0.5ml/L of Shogun Katana Roots. I gently placed each seed taproot-down into a small hole, lightly covered it, and added loose humidity domes to help with moisture retention.
🌱 From Planting to Sprouting — June 11th to June 14th
On the evening of June 11th, I planted the pre-germinated seeds (all with visible taproots) into their final 11L fabric pots. The coco was moistened with pH ~5.8 water and 0.5ml/L of Katana Roots, and I made sure not to compact the medium too much — just a light cover over the seed with coco to allow the shoot to break through easily. After planting, I placed clear domes over each site to help maintain humidity and warmth for the first few days.
🔆 Lighting & Environment
I had my HID lights set to 250W, hanging about 70cm above the pots initially. My light cycle was 18/6 (on from 6pm to 12pm the next day), so the seedlings had a consistent warm environment. Temperature stayed around 24–26°C, and humidity was kept in the 65–70% range. This gave me a strong vapor pressure deficit (VPD) for germination.

🌱 Emergence Timeline
June 12 (24 hours post-planting):
First signs of activity — Hannibal was the earliest to break through the surface. I also noticed movement from Jack. No light stress or damping off.
June 13:
Jack had fully emerged. Alana and Abigail were just behind. Some slight stretching was starting to show, especially in Jack and Alana — normal for early emergence under HID.
I kept domes on overnight and made sure the coco surface didn’t dry out.
June 14:
All four healthy seedlings (Hannibal, Jack, Alana, Abigail) had fully sprouted and were upright.
I removed the domes at this point since humidity was stable. I also noted that Jack and Alana were quite stretched, so I kept an eye on stem length and firmness.
Meanwhile, Will had emerged, but looked weak and underdeveloped — he never really stood up properly.
⸻
📝 Observations
Stretching: Jack and Alana showed the most stretching early on, so I planned to bury their stems deeper later to stabilize them.
Abigail and Hannibal stayed shorter and sturdier — great early structure.
Will remained curled and floppy, with little development in the cotyledons. I monitored him closely but he never picked up — more on that in the next phase.

Sambo258 🌱 Days 4–10: Seedling Establishment & Adjustments
Dates covered: June 15–21, 2025
🌱 June 15 (Day 4 Post-Planting)
By this point, all four healthy seedlings were standing strong — Abigail, Alana, Hannibal, and Jack. First sets of true leaves were beginning to show. Stretching was definitely most noticeable in Jack, who was the tallest, and Alana, who was right behind him. I checked the light height and found that the HID at 250W was sitting about 70cm above the canopy, so I lowered it to 30cm to help control the stretch.
Temperatures at canopy level hit around 28.5°C with the lower light, but I decided to hold that position since it wasn’t excessive and I needed tighter internodes. Humidity stayed around 65%.
Will, however, still hadn’t made any real progress. His cotyledons were barely separating, and he stayed low and limp. Looked like the damage from his shell falling off early had stunted him.
⸻
🌱 June 16–17 (Days 5–6)
Over these two days, the healthy seedlings responded well to the lower light.
• Stretching slowed considerably.
• Leaf growth picked up — especially on Abigail and Hannibal, who stayed compact and well-structured.
• I noticed some early twisting or irregularity in Jack’s new leaves, so I flagged him for observation (possibly light stress, minor mutation, or root zone inconsistency).
I continued to water very lightly — only around 150–200ml per plant, pH’d to 5.8–5.9, with just Katana Roots added. The coco was staying nicely moist due to the high humidity and good pot size. No runoff yet — that was expected at this early stage.

🌱 June 18 (Day 7)
At this point, I made the call: Will wasn’t going to make it. His early taproot probably got damaged when the seed shell came off too early, and the cotyledons never opened properly.
He never stood up, never pushed real growth, and looked shriveled despite the environment being spot on. I removed his dome and let the coco dry down. No replacement was planted — I chose to keep the tent optimized for the four healthy ones.
The other four continued to develop well — spacing between nodes was still acceptable, and the second sets of true leaves were forming. I began planning how I’d manage space for training since topping each plant 4 times (for 16 colas) was still the goal.
⸻
🌱 June 19–20 (Days 8–9)
I began preparing for the lighting switch to LED. The Omega Black 720W LEDs had arrived, so I dimmed them down to 250W and hung them 90cm above the canopy to let the seedlings adjust gradually.
This was a key shift: I moved away from HID entirely and toward full-spectrum, more controllable LEDs. I also received my Shogun Silicon, but I held off introducing it until the root systems were more mature.
Feeding increased slightly to ~280ml per plant, EC around 0.84 (445ppm), pH steady at 5.99. No runoff yet, but I started getting close. Plants were looking more stable and more symmetrical each day.
⸻
🌱 June 21 (Day 10)
With the LEDs fully active and plants adjusted, I performed a crucial structural correction:
I buried the stretched stems of Jack, Alana, and Hannibal deeper into the coco. This helped fix their early stretch and made them much sturdier. No leaning, no supports needed.
By this point:
• All four plants were well into the seedling stage and transitioning toward early veg.
• Leaves were stacking.
• Canopy was evening out thanks to the buried stems.
• Temps held at ~26–27°C, and RH around 60–65%.
• No signs of pests, rot, or deficiency.
• I was nearly ready to begin very light base feeding.
⸻
✅ Summary of This Phase
• Lighting: Switched from HID to Omega LED (250W @ 90cm)
• Feeding: Katana Roots, 280ml per plant, EC ~0.84, pH ~5.99
• Watering: No runoff yet, but pots nicely moist — approaching saturation
• Environment: ~26.5°C / 65% RH
• Actions Taken:
• Lowered HID to reduce stretch
• Switched to LED
• Buried stems to stabilize structure
• Removed Will (non-viable)
• Plant Status:
• Jack: tallest, slightly irregular early leaves
• Alana: tall but stable now
• Hannibal: strong, stretching corrected
• Abigail: compact, great structure
