Buenos dias!
It is day 5 as of writing this post.
Started 3 feminized Dutch Passion Strawberry Cough seeds in peat jiffy pots. They went into plastic box, covered with plasting bag to keep the humidity. A very fine mold like thing developed within 48 hrs on one of the jiffy pots, but I removed it and so far so good. All 3 of them were out in the light within 96 hours. Now they will be transfered into 0,5 liter plastic cups (they have drainage holes).
SETUP
Grow tent 90*90*160 cm (35*35*47 inch) .
Biobizz light mix soil
30L Rootpouch textile pots
Biobizz BioGrow, BioBloom, TopMax. Might use Atami BCuzz Soil Booster in weeks 3-5. Nutes might be adjusted obviously if guys in the Gshop talk me into something - this is probable :)
LIGHTING
First 1-2 weeks will be with 2x65W 2700K CFL lamps from last grow which served well. LED lamp (600W HPS equivalent / 250W real consumption) is on the way and will be used ASAP. For now the CFL lamps are obviously as close to the plants as possible. IF anybody has experience with Niello or Viparspectra 600w lamps and is willing to share them in comment, that would be awesome.
VENTILATION
100 m3/h fan for extraction
passive intake
2-3 square fans will be used for circulation
Seedling have been up-poted into aprox. 0,5 liter cups using just Biobizz lightmix
They look a bit weird if I am honest, take a look and comment if you can
Still waiting for Viparspectra 900w LED. Meanwhile 2x65W CFL are on it.
Still nutes free, growing like crazy
One plant a bit degenerated and all 3 of them quite stretched. Could it be wrong spectrum in CFLs ?(2700k)
Edit: Day 21, all growing nicely but one plants shows significant diffeeences that the two beauties.
Week 4 starts with a transpotting into ~2,5 liters of biobizz lightmix with 1:10 vermiculite from local garden supplies.
"Special girl" has around 3,5 liters to compensate for smaller size. She actually appears to be very bushy and it seems she split grow tip even without topping.
All three of them got stem burriend a bit in soil to provide stability and compensate for stretching.
The leaves seem to be leaning towards indica, even though Dutchpassion claims this strain to be sativa domminant.
This week might start with some Atami bcuzz soilboost. Maybe a bit of bio-grow from Biobizz.
The plants are doing well. They seem to be a bit more on the indica side than I expected.
The special girl-bushy one seems to have split tops automatically for some reason. This results in weird, small and underdeveloped leaves.
The other two plants were FIM-ed. I will keep posting to comparde how internodes change after the FIM
And lastly, the VIPARSPECTRA r900 is in da tent.
There were still weey light green leaves on new growth so I tried adding BioBizz Alg-a-mic and we will see.
Other than that they seem to be going full speed in final pots
The one bushy plant with weird genetics need to be trimmed because there is mayhed of small leaves and branches. She is basically topping itself.
lots of bottom leaves are starting to fall which is to be expected in consideration with the density of the canopy.
Other than that, flowers are starting to form, no big drama
Lots of bottom foliage removed while buds are beggining to take shape. Lamp was moved a bit higher because of bad coverage and also as prevention - it was as close as 20cm/8inch but plants never showe any sign of light burn.
Buds are fattening and sweetening up, a lot of foliage is falling in the lowest parts of plants. More green tissue has been removed via use of scisors. The number of popcorn buds removed is in tens. Bear with me, I am trying to be poetic here. The disadvataged genetic is drinling less water than her sisters are. A drop in water consumption is expexted due to foliage removal. Also being the irresponsible, beer drinking, fags smoling prick that I am, I messed up the days count so take them with a grain of salt(+-3 days).
I’m excited to follow along with this grow! I’ve got a Fem Strawberry Cough Dutch Passion seed in the mail as well, so hopefully I can use your grow as a bit of a guide since I’m brand new to this (and sounds like I’m doing a similar run too)! How early do you plan on switching to 12/12? And how many colas are you shooting for with your FIM/topping schedule?
@Sandman, i will see. Today marks the start of week 4 - that means they(seeds) went from the box into peat pod 21 days ago
I think end of week 5 might be a good estimate and I will decide as it gets closer.
Dont worry, I will follow your grow for comparison as well :)
Your CFL are E27 screw in right?
I want to recommend you some screw-in LED bulbs. They can be found in supermarkets and the modern ones produce 100lm/watt. They are dirt cheap. For instance there are 14w models that get 1500lm and even more after the diffusor globe is removed.
Trust me that they Blow CFLs completely out of the water. It's not even a fair comparison. I have 27w CFLs and 15w LEDs and the led bulbs are so much better that it made me laugh. (tested with lumen meter)
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=314806 (not my thread or anything, just recommended reading)
The reason the plants are small and stretchy is not because of spectrum but intensity, not enough light
So I can chill out in my grow room. I have music up here, and just outside I have a mini fridge. Spending my time in here also gives me a dose of vitamin D. I find my grow shack to be a place i can escape to. And it gives me time to scrutinise my plants. I also do my medical marijuana research and grow techniques research. I ❤️ learning and I ❤️😍❤️ growing.
@Puffer_Bill, sweet livin man sweet livin
I dont know about photos though. Maybe add extra week inyour diary and make it clear that its from first grow
How is it going? They look better this week. I’ll vouche for the strain and say it can bounce back from quite alot. If you change conditions it will bounce back.
Thank you, their stems got much stronger indeed and the growth is very nice for 2 but 1 of them seems to be suffering from poor genetics
I had a budy weekend but i will try to be more active in the following weeks
