UnorthadoxDude Hello growmies! Welcome to the first week of my second attempt at a cannabonsai. The first one was aborted due to failure of the seedling.
Can you guess what is hidden in the soil behind the clear plastic sheath?
Can you guess what week it will be revealed?
Day 7 - I have been fertigating this girl with starter nutes but today she has had veg nutes. I want to see how she handles early increase.

UnorthadoxDude Well hello there! This is week two of the bonsai mother project.
This Super Lemon Haze girl is going to be grown as a bonsai but may also fulfil the function of a mother plant too.
Day 13 moved into polytunnel. Accidentally broke the roots that were going into the lower pot.
Underneath the plastic there is an object that I am hoping the roots will grow over and around and into.
I've never done this before so please if you have bonsai experience, please let me know if you see any obvious mistakes.

UnorthadoxDude Week four of the bonsai mother project.
This was the week I targetted to begin removing the sheath and exposing the roots. I plan to begin that process in the coming days.
Day 23 - Photographed. I've been watering this girl tap water only, at the moment she has enough nutes in the medium, however I expect this to soon change. Her roots have protruded out of the bottom of the lower pot, as you can see from the video.
Day 26 - Removed the sheath and revealed the roots and object they are growing over. I am not unhappy with these roots, I think I can work with them. I had to temporarily add a zip tie to hold her in place.

UnorthadoxDude Week five of my first cannabonsai/mother project.
This young lady has been having nothing but tap water for the last few weeks. I am going to start feeding her as soon as she shows the first signs of deficiency.
After all the training on day 20, then the root reveal on day 26. I left her five full days to recover before messing any more. Then I took all her fan leaves off and adjusted the LST. I need to train here more over the coming days.
Day 31 - Photographed and took a video.

UnorthadoxDude Week six of my first cannabonsai/mother project.
I am very happy with how this grow is progressing.
Day 36 - Photographed and adjusted LST and root zone. Removed supporting zip tie.
Day 38 - Did some root pruning.
Day 39 - Photographed and fertigated about 500ml of nutrient solution. Yes I realise they are coco nutes, but it should be okay now and again.
Introducting Wilson the Kingfisher who is my new grow mascot, hand crafted and kindly gifted by @melodygrows. 🙏
