What a mess. I MAde Three major mistakes:
(***UPDATE!**** The remedie I applied is working for now. She seems to be bouncing back just fine.)
1) I started this grow i basic potting soil thinking it could hold me over. I only had like 5% ratio of perlite, and thought it would be no problem. Going into week 8 the soil was very compact, and "low", so I added cactus soil as topper and some argile balls .... it did nothing but suffocate and cake up the watering.
2) I over watered due to new soil, and I noticed, too late, I have been a 1.5 liter watering can, I thought it was just 1 liter, so I have been giving 4.5 liters of water, that was getting too much and I was doing it every three days. My PH in was 6.5 and out 7.5!
3) I am stuck between a giant armoir and a wall. So air flow is restricted to one exhaust out the top, with a fan pulling 194 M3, and two hole flaps open at the bottom, the fan is too weak to create passive intake, so I stuck a old clip fan on the bottom hole like an intake, saved me a little bit , but she suffered a good week.
Results: I lost at least 20 leaves. They all turned yellow FAST and had a burned look to them, some had munched holes from gnats. No doubt the wet soil no air caused some fungus gnats (although I have visually seen nothing). The roots suffered over watering and probably have a mild case of root rot... The flowers and upper plant had a white mold like substance going on (VERY mild, and soap and water and air made it better)... Every day this week I thought of tossing and starting over, but her flowers are still very "lively looking".
I ordered Cal mag and removed all the top layer of dirt and raked it for air intake. The cal mag took a week, so I added egg shell and broth to do a quick calcium fix, not sure if it helped...The Cal Mag it just got here. I have not fed for four days to let the bottom soil recover, but every day 2 leaves at least turn yellow fast. So finally, I got a the CORRECT soil and a bag of perlite, did a good mix, used it as top soil, did just ONE bottle of grow nutes, organic PH down, and Cal MAG. Now I wait, the flowers should have been fattening up and smelling good, now they are kind of "stuck" in last week looking mode. The only positive thing is they are a LITTLE but bigger, and have put out aLITTLE bit of sugar on the leaves and buds. The smell is odd, like sweet bubble gum mixed with rotten egg, it could be because of my egg shells and it's struggling to produce sweet terpenes.... That said, I sniffed the soil for rot, I smell nothing, not even soil smell...just neutral nothing smell. I think the stupid generic potting soil I used is fully depeleted...
I forsee Three things:
A) This CAL MAG top soil treatment will work, and I will bounce back but a week or two delayed.
B) This is the biggest the flowers will get, and the treatment works, and I just harvest a lower than perceieved bud and less quality.
C) She continues to turn yellow leaves and dies so I try again.
I have hope... Again, I like how the upper part of the plant looks and she is bandaided up. This is where I pray to Weesus and hope the plants resiliance and this genetics pulls me through! I have learned I will never use the wrong soil AGAIN!

This is my first auto. I hear you should remove as little as possible leaves, or none at all. My plant is bushy :) Look at my week 8 here, should I , later on around two weeks before harvest, do defoilage to expose the maximum amount down the stalks? Or will that stress her out?
the auto appreciate the defoliation but not exaggerated I always remove many leaves to leave air and light ..... above all when they are beautiful full
if instead the strain has little foliage I won't touch it........
in your case, looking at the picture ... just remove the low ones that take little or no light.......nice plant!!
does not seem but the soil is important personally I used those minerals and I found myself well ... now let's try the coconut :) ... strength that you will collect well๐
@UnkleSkunk, Thanks for the info. I looked up the strain. Looks tasty! Although, I am looking for some effects a little different this time (more head like), but I for sure want to keep the indica effects for my bad back (helps a lot).
@@GreenGrowGreen, there are so many strains it's like a gold rush in the cannabis culture right now it's hard to follow all these strains coming out. What's nice about having all these new hybrid strains is you can really target the ratio you want, for instance if you go on the breeders website you can have a look to see the lineage and the ratio spread between Indica and Sativa. It's a personal preference and I'm not the most experienced to give you advice. It's up to you to really discover what works for you. Strawberry Lemonade is a 30-70 or 40-60 Indica to Sativa which is what I like but yet again you can read into the terpene profiles of the plants which also have certain affects on the buzz you are looking for. I.E Limonene (terpene) is known for Elevated mood, Stress relief, Antifungal properties, Antibacterial properties, May help relieve heartburn and gastric reflux, Improves absorption of other terpenes....

@GreenHouseLab, Agreed. I am going to follow your journals. I want to try and grow more sativa domimnant strains. I am new to growing and just learning what all these strains do. Before, I was in California pre legalization days, and we just smoked whatever we could get our hands on, no one took time to know strains. I remember a lot of whisppy orange and white haired nugs from local growers. And the amazing highs of getting absollutely lost in movies, or making music sound amazing. Or walking through my own garden totally lost like: "under that tarp, is a small dinosaur land"....I would feel warm and relaxed inside. That is what I am looking for. I would guess more sativa dominant hybrids.
There was strains that made my heart feel that deep loss of time, but also my heart feel rapid, and sketched out. I want to avoid that... So I avoid strains that say "energetic". But I love time loss, that brings you in and out in a giggly sense... You know any recomendations? My next grow is targeted for July, and so far I am just planning on LSD from Barney seeds
@@GreenGrowGreen, always good to have in the inventory lol I'm taking a break from Indica's I've grown plenty lately need so daytime stuff. On top of that I have two Zkitllez finishing up this week ๐
@James, Thanks! At week four, after my mistakes, I thought I was in trouble, but Royal Queen Seeds Bubble Kush auto genetics fought through it with me and we came out to harvest! Very pleased! I probably could have waited another week to get a little bit more cola growth, but this is ok!
@Puffer_Bill, I'm finding she is responding well to my treatment. I think I'm gonna pull through! She's getting frosty. I'll probably be pushing 11 -12 weeks, not 10, but should be worth it ๐
