Grower_Tom Germinated tonight, will update progress throughout the week. Paper towel with RO water. PH 6.9
Update: 16hrs and 3 we’re showing tap roots
And at 26 hours the final one started to open. 100% germination success. Transplant tomorrow.
Update day 3: transplanted into solo cups. 80% living soil from Gaia Green and 20% local worm castings, 30ml of Gaia Green 4-4-4, 15ml of Gaia Green Kelp meal, and mycorrhizae sprinkled into the holes. Watered in with more RO water.
Update day 6: uploaded a short time lapse of the seeds losing their shells (testas) still just using RO will be switching to tap in a day or two. My water has chloramine though, and since I’m planning a full organic grow, I’m going to treat with ascorbic acid powder (vitamin c) since chloramine cannot be gassed off. I will use 0.1g of unflavored pure powder to 15L of water as the city reports 1.9mg/L
A common practical guideline is:
1 mg chloramine to 2.5–3 mg ascorbic acid
I am using a tad extra just to be on the safe side as a little extra doesn’t harm the girls at all! I’ll aerate for 15-20 mins just to gas off and free ammonia that doesn’t bind.
I’m currently watering about 25-30ml a day. As long as I don’t see run off yet I’ll continue at this rate. I will probably leach a bit but not just yet.

Grower_Tom I guess we’ll call this the start of veg since all 4 plants are showing their starter leaves. So far so good with the front loaded soil. Keeping a close eye on them for now. Also decided to keep feeding RO water for a couple more days and then I’ll start to mix in the tap water. The demand for CalMag is low right now and my soil is already pre amended.
Day5 update: not much to report, just water and wait. Bumped up the lights a bit to around 230ppfd and 12.1 DLI. That’s going off cocoforcannabis website par tests on the sf-7000. I am running the seedling mode for more blue light so not 100% sure the math is spot on, but should be close. I’m at 28” as well not the 25” they test on so that adds a variable of error.

Grower_Tom Day 8 today, keeping things simple, just pH RO water around 25-30ml a day. Did do a small bottom soak just to have some moisture lower in the cup. So far The Dude approves!
@Nony_grows, I’ve actually already followed you. I like what you’re doing! Greta to have this site and build strong foundations for our plants from other growers information.
