Running 70% of what's recommended on the chart as per Remo Nutrients because I'm on Autopots.
Also just moved the entire grow from the top floor of the house to the basement. Using insulated flooring from home depot to support the tent and reservoirs are on stands to keep them off the floor. Venting out via a tote filled with Oni 'fresh laundry' scent and absorbent crystals. Air coming in via another tote with a 1000(somethings) filter on it, hope to add UVC soon to take care of any PM etc.
Tricky week! The power went out at 2 AM when it was freezing outside. So I had to light my emergency candles and sleep beside my tents. This is 1 day before the new system that covers power cuts. What could that be you wonder? Well, I now pull the air from my furnace room into my grow tent which means no more paying for heating. I then let the comp switch between that and air for the garage when it gets too hot which takes care of the cooling problem. Apart from that, it's biz as normal. The smell is starting to pick up and it's always more than a carbon filter can handle so now I'm using ONA (Fresh laundry scent) mixed with water and sitting in a whole bunch of those expanding water crystal things. So now the area around my house smells like laundry, not like Gorilla Zkittlez which my neighbours appreciate I'm sure. New lights arriving soon so I'll switch to Optic lights in the coming weeks. I make sure to run my lights at night so the cooler temperatures help keep the heat down and conversely the daylight and heat help keep the temps up when the lights are off.
(I should add about the ONA crystals: What I do is fill a glass container with water and 10ml of ONA liquid (It sooo strong) then add a few crystals. I then undo the 6" ducting from my output fan and put the container actually in the ducting. Then seal it back up with a "Worm gear hose clamp" So now the smell can't get to the plants but all the air coming out of the tent smells like laundry. I then vent that outside via a window.)
All is looking good, no buds yet but the pistils are gathering together for the party that's coming soon. Fun to watch the different phenos show their traits. I tried cloning for the first time with this group. Out of 36 clones I ended up with.... 1 plant. I was trying DWC cloning and know what went wrong, so next time I should be good! I hope. This is how we learn I suppose. MedGrower1 on youtube did a vid recently on a DWC cloner so following his tips.
The smell is definitely picking up but the new remedy for that (see last post) is working perfectly.
What a week, no real changes to speak of.... EXCEPT I CHANGED LIGHTS!! There's not even a setting for that so I can't really update the stuff above. They are the Optic 8+ from Optic LED. Each runs at about 500W. The blurb says" Optic LED has now seamlessly integrated eight of CREE's highest yielding COB's (XLAMP CXB3590) with industry leading glass projection lenses to give you unprecedented light spread and canopy penetration. "
They have been going for about 3 days now and the results are amazing, Whereas the Vivosun and Marshydro light before did a great job of hitting the top of the canopy the Optic goes right through it and lights up the entire plant. I don't have to defoliate anywhere near as much to get the light through to the buds.
Otherwise, it's biz as normal, running at 6.4ph for a change to see if it does anything different than the 6.2 I usually run at. Prob not but we will see.
Barney's says 8-9 weeks for flowering so I'll start the flush in week 6ish depending on the development. I might do sugars only for 1 week before moving to straight RO water.
3 weeks left according to the Barney's Website. And the plants are showing a Potassium deficiency which means they are wanting for nutrients to help with the bud development. Because of this I'm upping the nutes to 10ml per Gal from 7ml to give them that extra boost before the flush. Then I will do a sugar flush with 1 week of just sugar then just RO water for 1+ weeks after that until harvest. I could have caught the K deficiency earlier but I was trying to stay within the recommendations I was given. Next grow I will just use higher levels and see if that helps.
Flush time!!!! As you might be able to see, there was a Potassium deficiency towards the end. This could have been caused by a few things. Since all the plants are the same reservoir and some plants see the deficiency and some don't it's probably pheno specific. More specifically it could be the PH that's causing the plants not to be able to pick it up or it could just be that these pheno need MORE!!!!
We're in the flush period now though, starting with a sugar flush to let the plants finish off a little more before giving them only RO water.
Guessing we're about 2-3 weeks away from harvest. Will be looking for 35-45% amber trichomes before they come down.
The smell is INSANE!!! Working overtime trying to keep the neighbourhood from smelling like plants.
We are now in the last couple of weeks of the Flush. Overall there are signs of the potassium deficiency and I think it mainly comes from a reduced nutrient content. Next run I'll do the nutrients at 100% and just clean the lines a couple of times during the grow. The Trichomes are still clear or milky with very few showing as amber. Though one pheno is showing a uniform 10% amber. Should be just another week or two I would assume.
Half the plants are down at this point and I'm sure the rest will be down in a few more days. I'm going to do mostly a wet trim and then clean it up a little after to remove any of the really frosty looking sugar leaves for hash making. The variet between the phenos and the cool crossovers between them are really interesting. Looks like one plant hermed but very very late into flower so no real effects. 2 of the plants looks like the fire 1 from one pheno and 1 a mix between the fire pheno and another pheno. I'll do a harvest post this week or next week when the trimming is done.
All weights are dry, which I know throws things off but I'm not interested in weight when wet.
Impressed, would grow again but would hope for a later gen with more even genetics, good strain for breeding.
