Germination
1y ago
Royalts This is my second grow ever – but my first in Living Soil and also the first time I'm working with 420 Fastbuds Seeds. I'm documenting step by step here to keep the development as transparent as possible and to gain experiences for myself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 08/22/2025 – Start Germination: Both seeds placed in Jiffys after refrigerator storage and set up in the mini greenhouse on the windowsill (~23 °C, high humidity). 08/23–24 – First Movement: In Jiffy #1, the first seedling appears, still carrying the seed shell over its leaves. Leaves themselves not yet visible. Jiffy #2: Seed still in the soil, no sprout yet. 08/25–26 – Windowsill Phase: Seedling #1 continues to grow, seed shell still firmly attached, first leaves beginning to be discernible underneath. Seedling #2 still below the surface, taking a bit longer. 08/27 – Move to the Tent: Both Jiffys remain in the mini greenhouse, but now placed in the tent. Lighting at ~200 PPFD, climate stable at 25 °C / 60% RH. Move to 20 L Living Soil planned only when the roots become visible on the sides. Seedling #1: Vital, but still with the seed shell over its leaves. Seedling #2: Below the soil, not yet visible. 08/28/2025 – Progress: Seedling #2 has today emerged from the soil. Both plants are now in the mini greenhouse in the tent. Lighting slightly increased to ~250 PPFD. Climate stable at ~25 °C and 60% RH.

Royalts 29.08.2025 – First leaf pair visible: Both seedlings are developing steadily. The first one has its cotyledons free now, and the first true leaf pair is recognizable. The second seedling is a bit smaller but vigorous. Light intensity at ~250 PPFD. 30.08.2025 – Noticeable growth: The first leaves are expanding, and the second seedling is catching up. Stems slightly stretched but still stable. Climate constant at 25 °C / 60 % RH. 31.08.2025 – Stable seedlings: Both plants are standing stronger, with the first leaf pair clearly defined. The second seedling appears more compact, while the first one has grown a bit taller. 01.09.2025 – New leaf levels: Second leaf pair is clearly visible, both plants are increasing in green mass. The difference remains noticeable: the plant on the right is more compact and wider, while the plant on the left is taller and slimmer. 02.09.2025 – Growth spurt: Leaves are getting wider, new tips are appearing. Overall healthy color and vitality. Light at 250 PPFD remains unchanged. 03.09.2025 – First strong leaves: Both plants are now showing several leaf levels. The right plant is developing a broader structure, while the left one remains slightly stretched. Both look vigorous, stable seedling phase.

Royalts 04.09.2025 – Even Growth: The leaf areas are starting to overlap more. Plants are standing stable, differences in growth form remain clearly recognizable: compact on the right, taller on the left. 05.09.2025 – More Leaf Mass: New fan leaves are unfolding significantly, the color is a vibrant green. No stress visible. Climate constant around 25 °C at about 60% RH. 06.09.2025 – Increasingly Vital: Both plants appear stronger, the leaf areas are getting larger. The right plant remains bushier, the left is growing slightly slimmer. Both look healthy. 07.09.2025 – Stable Growth: The plants are evenly forming new leaf mass. Differences in structure remain: one is compact, the other slightly taller. Light and climate unchanged. 08.09.2025 – Light Increased & Stronger Growth: The light was increased to level 4 today, measuring ~360 PPFD at a distance of 45 cm. Both plants are responding steadily, with no signs of stress. The right shows compact, bushy growth with many closely spaced leaves, while the left remains slightly stretched and taller. Leaf color for both is deep green, climate stable at 25–27 °C.

Royalts 09.09.2025 – Still stable: The plants are developing strong leaves, the difference between the compact right plant and the stretched left plant remains. Both are vibrant, dark green. 10.09.2025 – Increasing leaf mass: The fan leaves are getting larger and slowly covering the soil. Both look healthy and robust. 11.09.2025 – Just before the move: The plants show clear root strength; you can see that the small pots are slowly becoming too tight. No deficiencies yet, growth is strong. 12.09.2025 – Repotting in Living Soil: Today is the important step: both plants were placed in the large Living Soil pots. The light was adjusted to ~400 PPFD. After repotting, the lower leaves show a beginning yellowing – normal, as the plants are putting energy into adjusting their roots. 13.09.2025 – Recovery phase: The plants are stable in the new fabric pots. Green and vibrant on top, with still yellowing leaves below, which is completely normal after repotting. 14.09.2025 – Settled into Living Soil: Both plants now look significantly recovered and are starting to show new growth. Differences remain visible: right is compact-bushy, left is a bit taller and stretched. Overall, a healthy start to the next phase.

Leaves are deep green, structure is stabilizing. 20.09. – Wide growth: Plants are taking up more space, bushier structure. Lower leaves are weaker, upper ones are very strong. 21.09. – Dense structure: Plants are filling the pot area further, many fresh shoots. Royalts Unfortunately, I've had a bit too little time to write here, but I've continued to take photos and document everything. That's why there won't be any more detailed daily reports, just pictures from the respective week. Sorry :(
