Grow Questions

We’re using all living soil rich with castings, mycorrhizae, sea compost and gaia green 4-4-4. We’ve only been feeding water but just wondering is anyone nutrient feeds on top of using living soil?

Well the idea on living soil is not to add nutes if not necessary and the best no.. because of your soil. I would watch the little darlings and watch out for any defiencys / excess. you can always support your darlings with aloewater, molasses, magnesium, calcium, silicea, macha. spirulina, and some trichoderma to entic the soil with more benefical bacterias. if you should see any defiency ( around flowering time) you can give her organic fertilisers, but you already use gaia green, that should be more than enough...

@growlab Very nice, good to see someone else using Gaia green I am currently using Gaia 4-4-4, and have 2-8-4 for bloom with single ingredients to play around with the numbers or in case of certain deficiencies. Nice grow can’t wait to see final result!

Great tent setup man, hope to get mine to that point this summer. I planted autos in 3 gal pots last winter and also tried peat and currently fiber pots to eliminate the transplant stress. Frankly I prefer the fiber pots after I learned how to use them, I can transplant twice and makes keeping stretchy strains in line. Very interested in these strains in particular the six shooter, growing Mexican Airlines later this year and looking hard at the rest of their sativa lines.

@growlab, They go right through, its an air pruning pot. The walls are nothing more than a few fibers and when I see white roots poking through the bottom its time to move into a larger size. Just dont confuse with peat which also works BTW.

@rhodes68, nice I’ll check them out we have something similar in the tent actually just never used them. Have you noticed any hinderance in growth when the roots are trying to bust through the pot or does the pot break up pretty easily?

@growlab, I buy these locally but here is the small pot from amazon : https://www.amazon.com/Planters-Pride-RZR02252-Coconut-12-Pack/dp/B000RNB1XK/ref=sr_1_30?crid=2D7TMPWJNT0J9&keywords=fiber+grow+pots&qid=1555886486&s=gateway&sprefix=fiber+grow+%2Caps%2C213&sr=8-30 Get a good brand, cheap may cost ya, its not expensive. Soak the pots in water for a few hours before use. With seedlings I more water the pot than soil if you will. From there I go to 5" or 6" fiber before ending up in the large smart pots. Going to use these on my AFT outdoor grow also and that is a three transplant process. Glad to let you know anything I can, I am still learning. I am considering just using a 3.5" square fiber pot for germ to final pot, as that is a pretty good compromise size and eliminates one step.

Very nice setup and great video btw! Good editing and info!! 😁 I use Coco coir mainly because I can reuse it after each grow which is great for the environment and money but does mean adding in nutrients and balancing out a feed schedule. I might have to try making some living soil and giving it a go, because of the living bacteria etc can it be used again after first run?

@G4NJAG4NG, we always blend up new stuff and use the old in our garden and what not. If you amended the soil with more fertilizers it could probably be reused but I’m no expert on this area at all. Anyone have any insight?
