love_2_grow Woooohoooo!!! It's time to start the fall grow. Originally, I had a clone/photo run planned but I will travel for an extended time in December/January so I have to ensure all plants are done before I leave. With that in mind I decided to run autos now, and wait with the clones until I'm back in mid January. The Fall line up is: * Mephisto Genetics - Double Grape * Night Owl Seeds - Strawberry Milk and Qookies Remix #2 Limited Edition * Dark Owl Seeds - Midnight Mass * Night Owl Seeds - Blue Power Auto F4 This diary will feature Double Grape: Lineage: Sour Stomper x Grape Crinkle Generation: F7 Yield: 90-140 grams average Harvest Time: 70-80 days from sprout I started by soaking the seed overnight in a Mycotrex solution, and then planting it into a Root Riot plug the next day. The plugs are put on a tray, on top of a heating mat, and covered with a humidity dome. 48 hours later - 100% germination. The season is off with a bang! –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– This grow is generously sponsored by Bio Tabs Bio Tabs is an organic growing system that uses slow-release tablets of beneficial microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, and nutrients to create living soil that feeds plants naturally throughout their growth cycle. love_2_grow The first week passed without many issues. As usual, the main event of this first week was planting into the pot. I like to start my grows using peat plugs as I find it easier to germinate that way. However, the plants quickly outgrow the plugs, so I want to get them transplanted into their final pot within a few days. This is another grow generously sponsored by Bio Tabs, so the first thing I had to do was to prepare the substrate. Previously, I’ve grown with Bio Tabs in light-soil and perlite, but this time, I decided to use a 50/50 mix of coco coir and pumice instead. To this mix, I added Startrex to create a base mix. I put some of this base mix to the side to be used in the transplant hole to ensure the substrate isn’t too hot for the new seedling. I’m growing according to the “Water Only” method from Bio Tabs, so I also added Silicium Flash to the base mixture before filling the 15-liter AutoPot 1Pot, and adding three Bio Tabs at the bottom of the pot. Phew, that might sound like a lot of work, but that was it with feeding the plant. For the entire grow. From here on out, it's water only. No mixing, no measuring. Perfect for a lazy stoner like me. After filling the pot, I transplanted the peat plug into the “low fertility” hole using a dusting of Mycotrex on the taproot and in the hole. Finally, I placed a humidity dome over the pot to ensure a toasty and moist environment for the seedling. After a couple of days, I added a humidifier to the tent, removed the humidity dome, and added a reflective mulch layer. I like to do a round of preventative IPM with nematodes when I start a grow. To ensure any critters are held in check. After all, it’s easier to prevent problems in the first place than to have to battle an infestation later. Today, I mixed up a bit of Bactrex with Orgatrex before adding the nematodes and then fed the entire mixture to the plant. The DLI is around 20-22, which is relatively high this early in the grow. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– This grow is generously sponsored by Bio Tabs Bio Tabs is an organic growing system that uses slow-release tablets of beneficial microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, and nutrients to create living soil that feeds plants naturally throughout their growth cycle. love_2_grow Yet, another week has passed without any effort on my part. I haven't even had to water, and it's now been two weeks since last watering. Another week or so and it's time to turn on the AutoPot. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– This grow is generously sponsored by Bio Tabs Bio Tabs is an organic growing system that uses slow-release tablets of beneficial microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, and nutrients to create living soil that feeds plants naturally throughout their growth cycle. love_2_grow This week was slightly more exciting as I started training her with LST and leaf tucking. I also turned on the water in the AutoPot, as well as the AirDome, which I have on a timer - 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off. That was all the action this week. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– This grow is generously sponsored by Bio Tabs Bio Tabs is an organic growing system that uses slow-release tablets of beneficial microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, and nutrients to create living soil that feeds plants naturally throughout their growth cycle. love_2_grow Some LST and leaf tucking. That's pretty much it for the week. It's just so easy to grow when you don't need to worry about nutrients or even watering. The most action of the week was today when I turned the plant 180 degrees in the tent to fill the tent better. (The AutoPot doesn't sit in the center of the tent, which you can use to your advantage if the plant grows in an unexpected direction.) I see some slight chlorosis on some leaves, but it's only on a few and it's minor. I'm not concerned but I'll monitor it in the coming days. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––This grow is generously sponsored by Bio Tabs Bio Tabs is an organic growing system that uses slow-release tablets of beneficial microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, and nutrients to create living soil that feeds plants naturally throughout their growth cycle. love_2_grow Another week of LST and leaf tucking. I also gave her some Orgatrex and Bactrex to help with the chlorosis. That's it. love_2_grow This first week in flower was a bit more exciting than previous weeks. I decided to put in a scrog net to help spread and even out the canopy. So naturally, I 3D-printed one. (Yes, I can be that nerdy.) Besides, it was the quickest and easiest solution as I don't like the stretchy-net kind so need a frame. Much easier to download a file and press print :D Installing it was a breeze and I also cleared away most branches and leaves below the screen. The stuff that won't make it above the screen and will just result in a bunch of larf. I'm still seeing chlorosis (which I suspect has to do with her transitioning into flower and stretching), so I gave her a bit of Orgatrex and Bactrex. Next week, I'll start feeding her PK booster. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– This grow is generously sponsored by Bio Tabs Bio Tabs is an organic growing system that uses slow-release tablets of beneficial microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, and nutrients to create living soil that feeds plants naturally throughout their growth cycle. love_2_grow This week I brewed some PK Booster Compost Tea for 24 hours and gave her the next day. I also installed some under-canopy lighting. I'm not sure they do much, but I had them laying around so I might as well use them. She smells great, but she has some leaf chlorosis, making her look a bit funky. I suspect that the coco might have been Calcium hungry, causing a deficiency. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––This grow is generously sponsored by Bio Tabs Bio Tabs is an organic growing system that uses slow-release tablets of beneficial microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, and nutrients to create living soil that feeds plants naturally throughout their growth cycle. love_2_grow I alternate each between the two different PK boosters from Bio Tabs. This week it was again time for the Bio PK 5-8. I turned off the AutoPot a few hours before I mixed and hand-watered the booster, and finally turned the AutoPot system back on a few hours later. That's it. That's the whole amount of work I've done this week. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– This grow is generously sponsored by Bio Tabs Bio Tabs is an organic growing system that uses slow-release tablets of beneficial microbes, mycorrhizal fungi, and nutrients to create living soil that feeds plants naturally throughout their growth cycle. love_2_grow She is in senescence and we're on to the end sprint. While most leaves are withering, the sugar leaves are getting a purple color. This week is was time for another round of PK Booster Compost Tea, which I let brew for 24 hours and then fed her. (I turned off the AutoPot system some hours before and left it off until a few hours after, just to ensure proper nutrient uptake.) That was all I did. It is so easy with the Bio Tabs system. All I do is once per week fed a PK booster. Alternating each week between Bio PK 5-8 and PK Booster Compost Tea. Other than that, the system runs by itself. Perfect for a lazy stoner like me.
