Description of strain from the "Overgrow Canada" website: "FREEDOM DREAM - CBD Freedom Dream is a strain normally grown in Canada for commercial seed production. The seeds will produce both female and male plants. The female plants will grow about five feet tall and produce a large central bud with minimal side branches. If pollinated by a male plant, the bud will fill with seeds. If not exposed to male pollen, the bud will produce about 8-12% CBD and only very little THC. You could smoke these buds for pain relief but you won't get high. For best medicinal benefit, I would recommend making water hash or other extract from these buds." Day -2: Soaked seeds overnight, approximately 16hrs in PH7 tap water. Day -1: Transferred to damp paper towel on plate, placed in seedling tray with dome. Seedling heating mat set to 86F. Day 0: 8 of 10 seeds with sprouts visible, varying from 1/4" to 3/4" exposed. Planted in seedling cups in "Black Gold Seedling Mix". Sprinkled seed and soil with "Myke" mycorrhizae. Placed under 1 "Sunblaster" 18W LED and 1 "Sunblaster" 18W T5. Day 1: 6 seeds sprouted. 6 hrs later, 2 remaining seeds pushed through. One seedling was much more yellow than the others. Another seedling appeared as if 2 stems had popped up from the single seed. Day 2: Reduced heating mat to 80F. Day 3: Moved seedling tray, with dome and heat mat to 2x4 grow tent under HLG Elite 360 LED fixture. Light intensity set to 30%, 36" from seedlings. Day 4: Light was accidentally turned on to 100% intensity for approx. 4 hours. Plants appeared light stressed, burnt tips. Reduced to 25% intensity, moved light up to 40". Day 5: Removed dome from seedling tray. Reduced heat mat to 78F. Day 6: Light was accidentally turned on to 100% intensity for approx 4 hours. Plants looking light stressed. Installed humidifer, set on low. RH in tent @ 57%.

Days 7-9: Seedlings took a beating from accidentally having the light at full intensity for a couple afternoons last week. Seem to be recovering. The one yellow plant is still growing. Likely to be culled by next week. We fit tested the 6 inch carbon filter. Duct fan is on order. Installed 4 inch intake ducting for fresh air intake. Swapped out the small 6 inch circulating fan for a 12 inch, which is much quieter. Circulating fan set to: 1hr on, 1hr off. 6 inch fan being temporarily used as an exhaust fan on top of the tent, pulling air through one of the duct openings. Exhausts into the room. 6 inch fan causes negative pressurization and draws in fresh air via the 4 inch duct. Day 10: Changed circulating fan timer to coincide with the light schedule, 18 on, 6 off. Watering every other day with tap water. PH adjusted from 7.1 to 6.8. Day 13: Transplanted 4 of the seedlings to 1 gallon pots Increased light intensity from 20% to 25% Day 14: Watered with PH 6.7 standing tap water

Day 22: Tent: - Temp: 74-79.5F - RH: 47-55% - Light on/off: 20/4 - Distance to light: 22 inches Plants: - Removed 2 males. - 3 plants stretching like crazy. - "FD-1 (Shorty)" was moved closer to light, slight signs of light stress with folded (taco) leaves. Swapped location, not directly under light. Day 23: - So much stretching!! - Plants were folding (taco'ing) up due to light intensity. Lowered plants away from light by 6 inches. - Distance to light: 28 inches Day 24: - Installed new duct fan (AC Infinity Cloudline T6). Set to run constantly on low speed (speed 2 of 10) during lights on. - Subtle signs of some leaves showing light stress. - Watered with PH 6.5 standing tap water Day 26: - Temp: 74-81F - RH: 44-54% - Watered with 6.5 PH adjusted tap water. Day 27: - Temp: 75-82F - Increased light intensity from 25% to 29% - Increased exhaust fan speed from 20% to 30%, constant on - Topped 1 plant, Fimming on 1 plant, LST on 2 plants - Watered approximately .25 liters of PH 6.7 tap water per plant. Day 28: - Temp: 72-82F - Distance to light: increased by adjusting plant locations, to provide 20 inch distance to light. - Plants very thirsty, soil completely dry. - Watered approximately .4 liters of PH 6.6 tap water per plant. - Adjustments to LST ties. Fimming on 1 plant.

Top leaves looking dark green. Are the leaves clawing? - Watered to run off with PH 6.5 tap water. Day 31: - Lowered light & plants. 18" distance to light. - Increased light intensity to 35% - Snapped stem of tallest plant "FD-2 (Tall Girl)". Will see how she recuperates! - Leaf tucking where necessary. - Watered 2 pants with PH 6.4 tap water. Day 32: - Decreased light intensity to 30% - Leaf tucking and LST Day 33: - Increased light intensity to 35% - "FD-2 (Tall Girl)" healing snapped stem, standing upright unassisted. - Leaf discoloration more noticeable. Day 37 - Definitely having some problems! - Still not sure if we have a deficiency or toxicity...??? - Flushed plants on Day 35 with PH 6.7 standing tap water - Watered today w/ PH 6.7 standing tap water with .5tsp "Plant Prod MJ Spike" (CaMg) per 1L of water. - So far i figure it could be: 1. Nitrogen toxicity 2. Nitrogen or Phosphorous deficiency 3. Cal-Mag deficiency 4. Over-watering (showed immediately after flushing) Day 39 - Situation worsening. Figured had a nute deficiency, as well as over-watering issue. We let the plants dry out to slightly wilting before watering. - Watered with a 25% of recommended "Remo Nutrients" solution (per 1 gallon water): - 2ml Micro - 2ml Grow - 2ml MagNifiCal - 1ml Nature's Candy - Water tested at 6.3pH - Culled "FD-3 (Legs)" to make space in garden. She was the worst looking of the 3 as well. Day 40 - No water Day 41 - Light watering with remaining nutrient mixture from Day 39 Day 42 - Plants seem to really be pushing flowers, despite 20hr light schedule... could these be autoflowers?!?!? - Watered with fresh batch of 25% Remo Nutrient veg cycle mixture, 2ml of each per gallon of water: Micro, Grow, VeloKelp, MagNifiCal, Nature's Candy - pH'd water to 6.2 - Tied plants down to control height

Not much to comment on this week. Outside temperatures have been getting warmer. Daytime tent temps are around 81-82F. I currently have the "lights on" schedule set from 5pm to 12pm to try and avoid having the lights on during the hottest part of the day. "FD-1 (Shorty)" is the only Freedom Dream girl left in the tent. "FD-2 (Tall Girl)" is in a south facing window and is actually looking pretty decent, considering the lack of attention she's getting. Day 47: - Finally transplanted "FD-1 (Shorty)" into a slightly larger pot. She was extremely root-bound. - Used straight Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil with 5-10% perlite and approximately 5 tbsp of Gaia Green Bloom 2-8-4 dry amendment fertilizer. - Watered with 6.4pH-adjusted standing tap water Day 48: - No water Day 49: - Transplanted "FD-2 (Tall Girl)" into 5 gallon fabric pot. This plant was moved to a south facing window in my living room. - Used straight Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil with 5-10% perlite and approximately 5 tbsp of Gaia Green Bloom 2-8-4 dry amendment fertilizer. - Watered with Remo Nutrients flowering cycle combination.

Day 53: "FD-1 (Shorty)" and "FD-2 (Tall Girl)" are surviving in the living room window. They're basically just houseplants now but they do make for good photo props! LOL We're watering with the whatever nutrient water is leftover from our other "Early Miss" autoflower plants, which have now taken over the 2x4 tent.

Day 57: "FD-1 (Shorty)" and "FD-2 (Tall Girl)" still surviving with only window light exposure. They get about 3hrs of direct afternoon sunshine, other than that it's indirect light. Buds are not developing very well, as expected, due to limited light but the plants still look nice as decor :)

Plants are still surviving as window houseplants. Bud growth is very slow. Plants in general are slowing down, not drinking very much water. Watering once every 3 days or so.

@CoastGrower, Thanks! Unfortunately, this particular grow won't likely make it through to any sort of harvest, as it was always intended to simply be a test grow to feel out the environment of my new tent and grow light but feel free to check out my "Early Miss" autoflower journal, which is my first "real" indoor grow and also includes a few lovely photos ;) growdiaries.com/diaries/28981-1st-auto-grow-under-qb96-elites

I ordered 100 free seeds of this strain, never tried growing yet because they were CBD plants but nice job on the grow!
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrowscommented6 years ago
@planttracker, I was glad to have them as a test strain to get used to my new light & tent set up but not much worth to me as a harvest-able product. They're also just nice to grow as a house-plant. Not too smelly and they seem pretty hardy. I was surprised that they turned out to be autoflowers, it's not mentioned on the website but hey, 100 free seeds are gonna come with couple surprises i guess! 😋

Hi, @VanCplGrows! Did you ever get a harvest from this?
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrowscommented5 years ago
@MovingOn, No, they were never intended to be grown through to harvest. I used them just as test subjects for the new grow setup. I kept them around in front of a sunny window for a while before chopping them and throwing the whole lot in my garden compost pile.

Hi @VanCplGrows and greetings from Burlington, ON Canada. I've noticed you've been experiencing some issues with some of your grows. I was also seeing similar issues with my plants. The hydroponics store owner in my area said it's usually a PH issue so I purchased a new Blue Lab tester and re-calibrate it every week but my grows were not getting any better. They were OK but could always look better. Growing is supposed to be fun and exciting yet I was feeling stressed cuz my plants always had issues. Last year a close grower friend of mine suggested using Holland Secrets full line by Future Harvest (Canadian company). I'm on to my 4th grow with Holland Secret and have no longer seen any deficiencies with my plants. My feed schedule is feed/feed/flush. I give a long flush after every 2 feedings and in the long run I save on nutrients. I do not work for this company nor am I affiliated in any way. I just came across your diaries and wanted to share my experience. 🙏 Good Luck with your future grows and all the best👊🙌
