-Starting this grow in my grow room with my White Widow Autos, will transition to outdoors in 55 gallon drums cut in half on the May long weekend if weather permits, its hovering between 40-50 F outdoors right now. -One seed had two tap roots appear during germination. I planted it, let both seedlings appear, pulled them from their medium, untangled them, and replanted them in their own cups. They both survived, one being quite smaller than the rest and one being about the same size. -This is my second grow and I had a slight fuck up again. I am always nervous to plant the seeds too deep. The majority of them came up with their shells still on so I had to give them a bit of assistance, but they all survived, live and learn.

-Growing well, but as I was watering my White Widow Autos and had these behind me on the floor my dog took a big bite of the big WW Twin. I hope it survives. -Think I mat have to transplant by the end of next week -I'm going to introduce nutes next week.

-Re-poted all but the small twin on Day 21 into 8 L home depot pales. Would have put them in 5 Gallon pales but I'm running out of room and they will be there for 1 more month. Drilled holes in pale sides and bottoms. -I'm not re-potting the small twin because I'm giving it to someone else to grow for the summer, I'll ensure to keep updated to see how it turns out.

-Never mixed any perlite with my Promix. Last time I used Promix HP which drained way better, as a result I was overwatering these girls slightly. When I transplant for the final time I'll be putting them in Promix HP to ensure proper drainage. They've bounced back and look super happy, hoping to get them outside next week.

-Plants are taking well to the outdoors. -I have given them one big feeding since being outdoors and 1 plant has shown some minor nute burn,I'm going to dial down on the nutes a bit. -I'm currently dechlorinating water for 3 plants and the fourth I'm using it straight from the faucet. If it shows no ill effects after a couple of weeks I'm not going to worry about dechlorinating any more. -It would be nice if the sun would shine but its been an extended spring here in Ontario. Fingers crossed for some sun soon.

They just keep growing. 1 feeding a week. It’s been raining every other day but it’s heated up to 28 C. I’m leaving for a week so I’m going to give them a big feeding before I go, I really hope they don’t get stolen. I’m also going to continue to monitor my White Widow Autoflower from my previous grow in this grow as I’ve moved her outside since she refused to flower.

-Sorry I missed a week as I left town for vacation, luckily I had someone to check on them -I've been feeding once a week about 2 gallons each -I water whenever the top couple inches is dry but its been raining almost every other day so I've barely watered them -I've been using straight tap water (municipal) without dechlorinating. I was dechlorinating for 3/4 and using the 4th as a test, it showed no ill effects so I decided to not waste my time and just send it. I'ts been 2 weeks and no negative signs (touch wood) so I'll continue -I used Promix-HP as my medium, its pretty light and the girls are getting pretty tall. When I got home from my vacation I noticed they were all leaning to one side. I assumed they were leaning towards where they get the most sun so I spun them around. Doing so I noticed that they were leaning because they were top heavy and the medium wasn't dense enough to provide sufficient support. I set up the perimeter wire as you see to provide additional support and tied the stalks up with stakes. They seem pretty sturdy now. -Been getting some hot and humid days here in Ontario and they keep stretching, I'm curious as to how big they'll get before flower. -Oh and the Auto White Widow from my previous grow was planted in my flower bed and its still just vegging, hopefully it'll flower with the rest. I'm about to give her another major haircut.

Happy Canada Day! -Girls are good, uping the feeding to 3 gallons each. -Been discovering these little burns and holes on all the plants. I'm assuming the burns are the precursor to the holes but I'm unsure, maybe they're not related. I found 3 little white worms that I killed but they didn't seem to be eating holes in the plants. -Other than that they're doing great. I trimmed up the bottoms and can't wait for them to continue to veg.

Hey there ButterStotch, as you're growing outdoors this kind of "unexplainable" spots will pop . basically its tiny bug bites, you can tell by how they're clustered together. As this isnt really a big deal yet, there's not much you can do, these mysterious bite marks comme and go. If you want you can always add bacilus thungerensis (BT) which should control any potential outbreak. Meanwhile do check your plant up and down, especially under the leaves and the area near the pot. You're looking for aphids or spider mites which will appear as microscopic black dots. If you do find any, i recommend the BT but if not, well welcome to the wonderful world of cultivating outside ! 🚀

-It's been a hot week and plants are doing great. -All the plants have almost caught up to BC1 in height. -There's been little rain so they're getting more water, pretty much every 2nd or 3rd day with the hose and once a week with food. -Definitely going to have to wire up alot of the lower branches once flowering starts as quite a few seem to be starting to sag under their own weight. Might start soon to prevent any damage. -And the White Widow Auto Midget is still just growing

-So, I didn't inspect the girls too close after the last feeding for about a day and it looks to me like I've got a major Nitrogen deficiency. Some of the older fan leaves on 3 of the girls have some major yellowing (see in pictures). I do realize I kinda fucked up on my nutes and was not giving near sufficient nitrogen. As a result I fed them two days in a row with my new quantities (two in a row because there was a crazy downpour and I'm scared it could have flushed some of the nutes I just used). Fingers crossed that was my problem and it will be fixed with the added food. Just about out of nutrients too so I ordered some, should be here in two days. Ordered the Flora Trio, CaliMajic and Koolbloom liquid and powder. Hope I can turn these girls around, please let me know if you think it could be some other type of deficiency.

So I fed the girls and left for a couple days for work. No rain and scorching hot temps. I also had to stay longer than expected, so at least the girlfriend could water them. The nitrogen deficiency has gotten a little worse due to the fact I couldn’t feed them, some of the older leaves are yellowIng. We also had super strong winds which broke a branch 1/2 off, I tied it up and it seems to be doing just fine. I’ve upped the amount of nitrogen I’m feeding and hopefully it solves my problem. They seem to be slowing down in growth but it could just be the lack of nutrients. Hopefully they rebound alright! Oh and the midget keeps growing lol

So, Nitrogen deficiency SEEMS to have slowed down or stopped (hopefully). I've upped the FloraMicro as well as the frequency of feedings, from once a week to 2-3 times. Next year I will plant in soil as I'm going to fly through nutes, and the Midget that's planted in my flower bed has received nothing but water and has shown ZERO deficiencies. The girls have now also began to show a Calcium deficiency as can be seen in the pics on new growth, as a result I've upped the amount of CaliMagic as well. Weird as I see many people feeding 1/2 the dose as recommended by GHE while i'm feeding the recommended and then some. I'm guessing it may be because the girls are big, not sure. Oh well I ordered a gallon of each of the nutes and a gallon of KoolBloom from WEGROWBUDS.ca Highly Recommended. As soon as my prize comes in from @HumboltSeeds I will be planting 4 girls indoors! And FYI I may break this diary up into the Blue Cookies and White Widow individually, we'll see.

-Flushed the hell out of the girls with 6.5 ph tap water as was recommended. Problem seems to be solved! Definitely had nute lockout, real rookie mistake, oh well live and learn. -I've been told that flowering should be right around the corner and low and behold the midget finally decided to start! Its an Autoflowering White Widow that I started growing in February I think (see my last journal). For some reason it never flowered so I stuck it in my flower bed and gave it minimal to no nutes and its thrived. -Due to the fact that the midget has started flowering I will start transitioning to bloom nutes midway through this week. I'm going to continue using just ph'd water to ensure I flush out the buildup of salts I'm sure have formed in the root systems. -Both White Widows look similar while the Blue Cookies look completely different. -The girls continue to grow and I had to put up additional support as some branches began to break under their own weight. -When I started this grow I had 5 seeds, one had twins and one was bit in half as a seedling by my dog. Update the dog bite survivor was gifted to my brother who along with some clones he bought buried it in the ground and backfilled it with chicken shit. It has seen little to no care and is roughly 4-5 ft tall and has little to no yellowing leaves. The midget(twin) I gave to a guy that's been growing for years. He planted it along with some government bought seeds and he said it dwarfs them, apparently its over 7 ft tall. 5 seeds and 6 decent plants so far, no complaints with @CropKingSeeds, so far in my whole growing experience I've only used CKS and I have a 110% germination rate (11/10) lol.

-Mother nature tested these girls. I got home to a major storm and as I was getting more T-posts and string from my truck 5 branches broke from the crazy wind (1 being a major, not main but a big one). I got more T-posts in the ground and a couple more strands of supporting string before the storm finished thank god. I taped up the broken branches and 3/5 survived, the big one didn't take. -They seem to be slowing down in growth and starting preflowering. I'm going to flush for the rest of the week and then gradually start implementing flowering nutes. -This weekend I think I'm going to remove the supports and spread out the girls, they're starting to get too bushy shading each other. I'll then add even more supports as I anticipate they'll stretch way more once flowering starts. -My Midget WW Autoflower is flowering more than any of the others, its more prevalent in the lower hidden area of the plants, weird. The majority of her branches are way thicker than any of the other 4 girls, probably because shes much older. -Looking forward to full blown flowering!

-Decided to move the girls around, they were missing out on some AM sun and were blocking each other from direct sunlight. Thank god I had help because they were heavy! -Really had to tie them up as a ton of the branches started to break at the main stem as they were just getting too heavy. - BC2, and both WWs have visibly started to flower. Both Blue Cookies show very different phenos 1. -After a 1 week flush I started transitioning to flowering nutes, will go full strength next week. -Got rid of 1 caterpillar and put down some ant traps, the biggest pest is the planthoppers, I try and kill everyone I can see, but they keep coming back, there’s not a ton but they’re persistent. -Excited to see the weight these girls can pack on. This is my 2nd grow ever and 1st outside so I’m learning a lot! -Thanks for all the help and encouragment!

-Week went well, thinned our the girls as was recommended. -Came home one day to two very thirsty plants, couldn’t believe how dead thirsty plants look! Also can’t believe how fast they perk right back up after being fed! They’re drinking everything almost every other day now. I’m pretty much feeding nutes every second watering, 5 gallons per plant. I’m going to be cutting the midget down and burning it in my campfire if it doesn’t start flowering in 2 weeks, this way my grow will be legal lol. -Can’t wait to see these girls pack on the weight, really worried about bud rot and frost arriving before the girls are ready, fingers crossed they make it, I don’t want to harvest them too early.

I believe I fixed my nute lockout a couple of weeks ago. But since flowering has started I’ve been getting a deficiency on the older leaves from the bottom moving to the top. I’m wondering if this is A nitrogen deficiency as I’ve backed off on the nitrogen since I’ve switched to flowering nutes. I’m not really sure how to proceed or if I’m even right.

Hey brother. Hard to tell without some testing, but she looks hungry. Looks like she’s consuming lower growth to support her flowering efforts. The issue could be the pH of the medium causing your plants to not be in the right range and therefore not getting what they need. Only way to tell for sure is to test the run off next flush or feed. I think your could accomplish this by pushing a pot up on one side with a brick/stone underneath, then similar on the other side. Just need to get something like a Tupperware under there to collect and test. At a minimum test the pH and adjust your next feed accordingly. For example, if your soil is high 6s/low 7s you need to feed with a lower pH 6.2 ish. If it’s in the range you can make more minor corrections to aim for the sweet spot. Lastly if you can test the EC/ppm of the run off, it can tell you how much the plants are consuming in between feeding and watering.

-Flowering is going well. Gunna try and test the ph of the runoff this week to see if I have an issue. -BC1 has some yellowing leaves near the top of the plant. -WW1 (the bushy plant) has had 2 major haircuts this week. I’m having a really weird issue with some upper leaves turning red! They’re turning red, not dying or falling off just turning red, it’s weird and only happening to this plant. -WW2 and BC2 are doing amazing! Pretty much all green except for the occasional old yellowing leaf -Time to pack on some weight -Midget has started to flower, doubt it will be ready before the cold, we’ll see what happens

When using a Apple cider vinegar/water mixture is it ok to spray the entire plant, leaves bud and all to combat Powdery Mildew (PM)? I’m assuming it’s ok and may help prevent the PM from infecting the buds leading to bud rot?

In general, I don't think its all that great of a thing to spray anything directly on the buds. I've never tried spraying my buds with anything so I don't know 100% if apple cider vinegar would harm them. I tried to dig up some information on using apple cider vinegar to kill PWM and found quite a few articles, but none specified if spraying your buds was okay. They all just said to spray down all affected leaves. In my search for info, I did a few other remedies(Baking soda, Milk, Hydrogen peroxide) that did actually mention that you should spray the buds. One person in the comments of one of the sites I was reading stated milk did wonders for their PWM. I will quote the comment here: "the way to use it is as follows dilute 400ml milk to 600ml water allow solution to stand in an open container in the sun for about an hour then spray entire plant, the science behind this is that milk, when exposed to direct sun and air, builds up natural antifungal and antibacterial enzymes that kill the powdery mildew on contact." I hope this helps and good luck in your battle!

Girls are packing on weight, the bushy girl WW1 (the only red 1)is definitely behind the rest in terms of flowering, kinda shitty as it’s the only one showing significant stress from the cold nights. Found some powdery mildew on 2/4 girls. Mixed up 10ml Apple cider vinegar with 1 quart of water and gave the infected leaves a spray, over sprayed on the buds hopefully that’s fine. PM seemed to instantly disappear, I will continue to monitor. It’s definitely from the drastic temp changes, 3 at night and 25 during the day. The midget has some flowers now, no nutes, no trimming and it’s a dense bush. Showing no signs of stress or PM. Maybe she will live well into the cold and produce some harvestable bud, we’ll see! Fall is around the corner!

-Well I believe I got the PM under control. I can’t 100% say which method worked as I tried both Apple cider vinegar and milk. The first 7 days I sprayed every night with acv (10ml/quart) and the PM would disappear and then reappear the next day. I upped it to 15ml/quart on the last night. The following day I sprayed the girls with 40/60 milk water during the day as I guess the milk needs the sun to work. I really think the milk has worked and I still keep finding PM every other day on leaves that are hidden in the canopy(assuming they’re leaves I’ve missed). I’ll keep reapplying milk as I find PM and will keep this updated. -These things take a lot of maintenance! From the frequent feeding, mixing of nutes, picking dying leaves and constant tieing up of branches due to the weight of the buds. When it rains man they get heavy and droop bad and I find new ones to tie. -I’m going to invest in a leaf blower to save me when it does rain, I’d like to use it every morning but I leave the house at 430 so I doubt my neighbours would appreciate that. I’ll just have to try and shake the dew of as best I can. -can’t wait for these girls to be finished! -Update. (Sept 19) just checked the trichomes out of curiosity, i though they had 3 weeks left at least. 5-10% amber and none clear. No more food flush starts now! They hunt been fed in 3 days and I want to harvest when the trichs are <=50% amber so maybe next weekend or the weekend after will be chop day. I have nowhere to dry them except an outdoor shed so I think I’m going to break and by.a 4x8 tent and an 8” fan to put it all in my basement and vent out the chimney to dry. I have no clue how many jars I’m going to need, I wanted to use 1L jars but I’ve read Mold is more prevalent in the bigger jars. I can’t beleive the end is this close!

-Harvested BC1 and BC2 as there were 10% amber trichomes and PWM was just getting to be too much. Washed them all and removed the fans and it took 3 days after work to get them done, nearly 18 hours. -So much trimming lol. I've finally finished and got 531g of bud in jars and between 1 and 2 lbs of popcorn bud and trim in the freezer. -This was a difficult strain to grow and I wouldn't recommend it for outdoor grows in Ontario. PWM was a severe challenge and required constant abatement. Bud rot was also more of an issue with these girls compared to the WWs in the same environment (I probably lost 1 ounce to rot). -Still it was fun to see how big these girls could get in our bipolar Ontario climate. Very happy with the final product and and that hard work definitely paid off! -Going to take a break before I start anything else lol its been a busy time this year and my first 2 grows are finally in the books! -2019 outdoor grow in Ontario resulted in over 1kg of bud, 4 lbs of trim and popcorn between 4 plants. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and learned from them. Can’t wait to see how I can improve next year. Thanks @Growdiaries and the community here, it helped a lot!
