Borberad Unfortunately, something didn't work at the beginning in the diary, so we have depicted the germination 1/1 in the first veg. Rainbow Melon by Fast Buds The Mission Rainbow Melon – A Journey Through the Genetic Jungle Welcome, esteemed chroniclers, to our next botanical experiment. Our subject of study today is the Rainbow Melon, a photoperiodic strain from Fast Buds that promises maximum yields and a flavor explosion. Its name evokes images of colorful fruits, and its lineage is a product of highly specialized modern breeding. But behind the shiny marketing lies a plant that reveals its full potential only to those willing to master its quirks. 1. Genetics & Lineage: A Modern Masterpiece The Rainbow Melon is a cross between a proprietary melon strain from Fast Buds known as the "Keeper Cut" and the famous Rainbow Chip from Exotic Genetix. The term "Keeper Cut" is not just a marketing gimmick here; it describes a phenotype carefully selected for its outstanding characteristics. The result is a balanced hybrid that combines the best traits of its parents: a modern, fruity terpene profile and extremely high potency. 2. Growth, Size & the Desire for XXL Yields The Rainbow Melon is described as an "XL cultivar" that not only reaches impressive heights of 140 to 180 cm but also promises XXL yields of up to 600 g/m² indoors. The flowering time is just 8 to 9 weeks. For the ambitious grower, this means meticulous planning of the grow space is essential. It is recommended to apply Low-Stress Training (LST) for yield maximization, while High-Stress Training (HST) is discouraged. The rapid growth rates are a promise, but the wise grower knows that reality often requires a few extra days to fully unleash the THC potential. 3. Aroma & Terpenes: When Pixy Stix Meet Melon The aroma and flavor of the Rainbow Melon are a testament to the precision of modern breeding. The strain develops a "pronounced terpene profile" inherited from the Rainbow Chip, complemented by the sweet, citrusy notes of melon. The taste is described as sweet and sugary, leaving a nostalgic aftertaste of "Pixy Stix" from childhood. The dominant sweet melon, accompanied by notes of fruit jelly, shows how terpenes can tell a flavorful story. 4. Effects & Use: From Euphoria to Deep Relaxation The effects of the Rainbow Melon are described as a "perfectly balanced" hybrid. It starts with an euphoric and uplifting high that gently transitions into a state of deep relaxation. This dynamic effect makes it a versatile strain. The high potency of the Rainbow Melon is also noteworthy, with THC levels that can reach up to 30%. Such potency is not playground material for beginners. 5. Special Features: A Resin Wonder with Quirks The Rainbow Melon is a true resin wonder, a "real resin factory" producing dense, grape-like buds covered in trichomes. This trait makes it an excellent choice for extractions, such as hash or concentrates. However, the high density of the buds, which is so desirable for yields, also makes the plant susceptible to mold and mildew, especially under humid conditions. Those cultivating this strain indoors must meticulously monitor ventilation and humidity. Week 1: The Germination Week * Day 0.1: After soaking for 10 hours in 1% H₂O₂, the seed was planted in the substrate, [Easy Plug]. The mini greenhouse had to float in the well-tempered (24°C) aquarium due to a defective heating mat. It worked great! 😃 * Day 0.2: The waiting phase begins. We are waiting for the seed to break its shell. * Day 0.3: The first signs of life are visible. The cotyledons break through the substrate, and the seedling in its floating home grows towards the aquarium light. 😂 * Day 0.4: We increased the DLI from about 12 to 16 to give the seedling enough light. * Day 0.5: The cover was opened to lower the relative humidity to about 80%. * Day 0.6: Everything is under control. The plant shows vigorous growth. The first "true" leaves are unfolding. And the first roots have already penetrated the Easy Plug. The next larger one is needed. The DLI is increased to 20. * Day 0.7: The cover was removed. The relative humidity is now dropping to 60–65%, which should encourage the plant to build a strong root system. * Fertilization & Measurements: No fertilizer or water needed.

Borberad Week 2 The Birth of the Legend Our rainbow has successfully completed its germination week. Our care in climate control (28 °C and 60–65% relative humidity) and the gradual light supply has perfectly prepared the plant for the upcoming veg phase. We will increase the DLI to 30 by the end of the week. The first nodes have already grown, and as the substrate begins to dry out, we are giving water for the first time with 2ml/l Calmag and 2.5ml/l Hesi Root, possibly 2ml Hesi TNT until the soil is sufficiently moist again. * Plant Condition: The plant is vibrant and has unfolded its first leaves. The stem is strong and compact. * Important Events: Healthy growth, beginning of watering with light additives. Further increasing the DLI to 30 by the end of the week. * Fertilization & Measurements: Osmosis water 20 Micro Siemens buffered with Xpert Nutrients Calmag 2ml/L and 2.5ml/L Hesi Root, possibly 2ml Hesi TNT, conductivity approx. pH value approx. * Adjustments:

Borberad Week 3 The foundation is being laid and repotting is coming up. The Rainbow is in the third week of its life. The first side branches are forming and the plant has grown healthily; it now has 3 nodes. It has outgrown its cube and has rooted strongly into it. Therefore, it will now be transplanted into a 3L fabric pot. After that, for the first time, the standard nutrient dose will be given, adjusted to the plant's appearance: 2.5 - 5ml Hesi TNT for proper nutrients during growth, 5 ml/l Hesi Root for strong root development, and 2 ml/l Calmag to harden our osmosis water. The DLI was increased to 40 over the course of the week. * Plant condition: The first "true" leaves are fully developed, and as shown by the EasyCubes, there is strong root formation. * Important events: Start of nutrient application. Increase of DLI. Repotting into a 3L fabric pot. * Fertilization & measurements: * Watering: pH about 6.0. EC about 1.4 - 2 mS. * Drain: We measure sporadically to maintain the deviation of +/- 500 mS. * Adjustments: We are surprised at how well the plant has developed in the Easy Plug system.

Borberad Week 4 Topping and leaf trimming. The leaf damage is probably due to the abrupt change. A bit too much light and wind in the new tent for the little ones. 45 DLI (still from the last bloom) has been reduced to 35 DLI for now.

Borberad Week 13 Unfortunately, a nasty powdery mildew infestation has caused us a lot of work last week and has taken a toll on the plant. On top of that, there’s some drying damage. So, we decided to harvest the plant earlier and see what can be salvaged, then first thoroughly clean and disinfect all the equipment to keep the microbial load as low as possible for the next grow.

Looking great in week six. I was surprised to see 6 weeks of veg on a Fast Buds strain... then I realised it was a photoperiod! Good luck with the grow, you have my follow.
