1. First of all I'd like to thank Fastbuds for letting me try out this strain. AK-47 is one of my favorite strains. Now I get it mixed with lemon and quick as a bunny!
2. Unfortunately this girl had a rough go of it in the beginning. I soaked the seed for 24hrs. Seed had cracked and tap root could be seen. I put seed in moist paper towel to finish germinating. Within 24hrs. there was a robust tap root growing. I planted her in a mixture of Ocean Forest and Happy Frog and thought nothing of it. However, once the sprout broke the surface, I could tell something was wrong. The seed wasn't detaching itself! I let it go at first, hoping the sprout would eventually slough it off, but the shell was stuck on cotyledon. I was able to get the shells off, but it took off one of the cotyledons in the process.
I could see tiny primary leaves forming, so I kept on eye on her and hoped she'd pull through.
3. These pictures are really 2nd week. I didn't want to post a diary until I was sure this girl would pull through. Currently her color is great, she is starting her 3rd node and the first 2 nodes have small, but noticeable growth.
4. I will begin using Recharge once a week during veg. This will encourage my microbes and help her root system. I've been very pleased with the results I've gotten from using Rehcarge.
1. She is rebounding like a champ! All new growth is vigorous and lush green. and I'm seeing some nice secondary development. She is a short little girl though.
2. I started using Recharge this week. I'll be adding it to every 3rd watering. Currently I'm watering 1l every other day. I won't any any other nutrient during veg. Happy Frog and Ocean Forest has enough nutrients to feed her. I'll start feeding flowering nutes once she shows flowering characteristics.
1. This has been a strong week for my little sprout. There doesn't seem to be any ill-effects from her seedling mishap. Gotta love good genetics.
2. She is only being fed Recharge as an additive. I'll start flowering nutes as soon as she starts to show pistils.
3. I removed the top fan leaves from the plant as well. I wanted to open up the under canopy for better light penetration.
4. I'll probably being moving both of my autos into the bigger tent next week. The plant in there now is ready for harvest. I'm looking forward to putting this girl under some more intense light!😎
This turned out to be a very heady grow. It sneaks up on you. At first you feel alert and aware of the world around you. Next thing you know, you've been staring at your dog sleeping for the last hour, contemplating his dreams.
This little girl had a rough beginning. The shell casing attached itself to the cotyledon and couldn't be separate. I ended up losing the entire starting leaf. Despite that, she ended up growing like a champ. There were no lingering effects from the stress she endured in the beginning of life. My only criticism of the strain is leafiness of the buds. The buds themselves are large and dense, but there are a lot of sugar leaves.
@Denzul, I did a little research after the fact. I read that casings can stick if you plant too shallow. I don't remember doing anything different when planting this seed, but you can bet I will pay real close attention in the future!
I'm hoping this next watering with Recharge will energize this little sprout!
@Quexos, Congrats on gradschool for your daughter and your anniversary! I love Portland despite only visiting for a brief time, and have visited awesome Colorado mountains twice and hopefully will do again when my clients that are based there need me. Vancouver is a nice bucket list destination.
It just sucks when real life interferes with grow shedules!
@smurgrow, Yeah I have to take a break pretty soon as well. I have my 2 autos going and my photo is about 3 weeks from harvest. After that I have to shut down until September.
My daughter got into grad school in Oregon, so we have to help her move up there this summer. After that we are going to Vancouver for our 30th anniversary!
You'll notice all those places have legal cannabis!
@Quexos, hehe, I wish! My candidates are not good enough and next grow only starting when I return from travels in July. By then I"ll have a tent with some decent led lights and epic genetics so game on!
Sounds like you had quite the rough start but the lady seems to be pulling through. Had the shell stuck a few times and always to scared to undo anything about it
