Week 1 of the Sour Gelato indoor grow. I planted the seed in a jiffy pellet and it sprouted on Day 4. Sorry for pictures under the grow light, took them before deciding to start this journal.

The second set of true leaves is out and she is working on the third set. Growth was slow at this point mainly due to planting directly in a large pot but I am happy with the progress.

Growth has picked up significantly and she was finally ready for FIMing. From here on I am going to add molasses to my water on a weekly basis. I am loving the growth.

The past week was busy so I started LST on the plant after it recovered from the FIM. The Day 31 pictures are the last pcitures I took before I switched my lights to 12/12. Hopefully it will stretch out nicely but not too much. Really looking forward to the next few weeks as this is my first photoperiod so I have never went through the flip.

Over the last week the lady has been demanding. Growth has been amazing and I have been keeping her as wide as possible through LST over the last few days. I want her to grow upward for the coming week so I will hold off for a while on LST and aim to apply it only at the end of the week. All the new growth is yellow/lime green and apparently this is normal sometimes after switching to flowering and also considering that new growth is typically lighter in colour, Since her growth has not slowed down for now I will just keep my eye on it and see if I need to take any action but any comments on this would be highly appreciated🙌

It's been a week since I switched to flowering and new growth on the plant all has a yellow/lime green colour but this seems to go away when the leaves fully grow out and growth in general has not slowed down. Based on the pictures in my diary should I be concerned?

Sometimes the new growth is slightly light green but this looks like the start of a sulfur deficiency. If you have some red/purple streaks or strips running up your main stems that's a sure sign. Also the stems start getting hard or woody. It can happen if your ph is too high or your substrate ph is too high. Ideally in soil a ph between 5.8 to 6.5 is an acceptable range. You should check the ph of your runoff coming out of the pot to give you an idea of whats going on inside the pot. If what your putting in and coming out are in range you can supplement the deficiency with plain Epsom salt (Magnesium Sulfate) at 1 teaspoon per gallon of water. You should see improvement in 3-4 days. If not you can take an additional step and use the same mix as a foliage spray a couple of times a week. Be sure to get under the leaves where the stoma are located also. Try to do it at lights out so your lights don't magnify the water droplets and leave marks on your leaves. Good luck you'll be seeing green in no time.

Over the last week I haven't been doing much training. I am happy with the canopy so I have just been letting her stretch upward a bit. For the sulfur deficiency I was foliar feeding her with some espsom salts mixed into water. I know that watering her with some of that mixture is a more long term solution and better for her but I was avoiding messing with the soil until I was sure that epsom salts wouldn't mess with the microbial life in the soil. The day I took the last photos was when I decided to finally water her with an epsom salts and water mixture so hopefully that helps. Because I am growing in organic soil, I am really trying to avoid a flush but if this continues I will have to flush before it is too late. I am also seeing some preflower so finally the most interest stage (at least for me) is about to start. Day 48 update: The water and epsom salts mix I watered her with on day 46 is already helping. Growth is now even more rapid and vigorous and yellowing is lessening. I am happy with the results. Big shout out to @Philindicus for the solid advice.

This week pistils started growing all over the lady and she started to show signs of sulfur deficiency again so I added some epsom salts to my watering. Other than that I finished up my training and I am happy with the canopy. Now comes the most patience testing part of the grow and I am hoping she continues to grow well.😅 * This is my third grow all in all and my first photoperiod grow. Having only grown autos (badly) up to this point, I am surprised by how well this lady grew out but I must admit, the soil did help a lot. Growing organically is something else.

This week I am seeing more and more pistils everyday. the yellowing has mostly went away, the epsom salts really helped. I will be watering with just plain water for the next few days before I add any more molasses but so far growth has been great and I am still impressed by her.

This week I was basically watching the lady do her thing. I decided to feed her only water over the last week and I think she is looking like she wants more than just water. In my next watering I am going to add some molasses. I haven't added any since about 2 weeks ago and I am thinking of watering with a mix of water + molasses + epsom salts. Hope it delivers a nice nutrient boost and helps the buds fatten up and sweat with frost😋 Any tips and advice is always welcome. This is my first photoperiod grow and my third grow overall so I am always looking for ways to improve my grows.

The lady seems to be flowering slowly but still looks good. The strain is mix of Green Gelato and Sour Poison so she is a sativa dominant strain so I half expected her to be a long flowering stain even though the breeder said she takes 8-9 weeks to flower. I also started adding molasses and I hope this will lead to the buds fattening up nicely. Lastly, the trichomes are starting to pop up on all the buds and I can pick up a light sweet smell from them. In my previous 2 grows I think I harvested a bit too soon but with this lady I will give her as much time as I need.

The last week has been heartbreaking. The lady seems unwell overall and growth is snail slow. The low temps are not helping. The buds are getting really frosty but haven't fattened up much. on Day 78 I performed a flush but I am not seeing any improvement but she does not seem to be getting worse either. I really hope she recovers. Because I am using living soil I am guessing I messed up the microherd at some point during my grow and unfortunately I ended up having to do a flush, which forced me to switch to synthetic nutes 😩

Please help? All the leaves are getting discolored especially the bottom ones. The upper ones also appear discolored and she looks unwell overall. I gave her a flush on Day 78 and added bloom nutes but 4 days later (Day 81) and I am not seeing any improvements.

From what I see your on week 7, how many week strain is it? 8-10 those colours would look normal to me as she is depleting her nutes and gettin ready for harvest

Over the last week the lady has been slowly chugging along. She is almost there, a number of pistils are now a bright orange and the leaves have taken on a spectrum of autumn colours with some dying off. At this point I really can't wait for her to finish but I am gonna give her all the time she needs. One thing I did do over the past week was switch to an 11/13 light schedule. I just feel it better simulates late winter. Anyway at this point I am waiting for her trichomes to all turn cloudy with a bit of amber then she should be good to go.

I am two days into this week and finally the buds are starting to plump up more and more everyday and looking closer to harvest. Less than 40% of the pistils are orange and she has a number of cloudy trichomes. Since this is a sativa dominant strain, I want to harvest when she has some amber trichomes. I really underestimated how long sativa dominant strains can take to finish as this is my first one but I am not disappointed by the abundance of buds on her. At this point all I want is for her to fatten up as much as possible because she is losing leaves fast.

Yep it looks like it's finally time, I can't believe she turned out like this😵. I love her😍. I am glad I didn't panic and harvest early because she sure did pack on some weight in the last couple of days and I am hoping she continues to do so until I harvest her in 2 days or so. I am planning on giving her 24 to 36 hours of darkness before I harvest because why not. I will see if there is noticeable difference in the number of trichomes. Currently most of the trichomes are cloudy and I don't see an amber one in sight. Most of the pistils are orange (maybe around 60%) and curled in plus most of the leaves are yellow now. Day 104 update: After about 60 hours of darkness I got to finally see how the lady looked and she looks amazing, It was finally time for the chop and I couldn't be happier about how she turned out.😋

Overall I enjoyed this grow. I didn't have to intervene as much as I thought I would have to and the peeps here on GD are amazing, I was able to solve any issues that came up with the help of this amazing community and I appreciate all the help, I will definitely pay it forward as I learn more about growing. Keeping track of a grow using GD is absurdly easy and very helpful. I love being able to look back and see the whole journey. It makes me so sentimental. It's been awesome😌 growing your own herb is extremely satisfying and I am as happy about the growing experience as much as I am about the final product😊
