Danylo [DISCLAIMER]: For this run I decided to almost completely reuse the substrate from my last run, because I want to try and save a little time and money. My fertilization method works for inert media, so in the grand scheme of things it should be possible. Anyways... this adds some unknown variables. So while I give my best to ensure proper nutrition to the plants in each stage - it may very well be the case, that there will be some visible deficiencies or even the whole plant underperforming somewhat. If this happens please do not attribute these shortcomings to the strain/breeder.. If someone will be to blame, it is me! 8)
I grew Lemon Z once already. About one year ago. The bouquet and effect last time were (and still are) part of my alltime favourites!
Unfortunately I made a few mistakes that run, especially regarding fertilization. And while I usually am way more interested in new/unknown(to me) strains, I'm gonna make an exception for this lovely variety this time! Who knows - maybe the great phenotype I got last time has a beautiful sister!
The seed was started using a 1% H2O2 soak for 18h and then planted directly into low nutrient soil. I used fresh soil for this step. The old substrate I'm planning to reuse is very likely too high in salt content for this stage. All three of the seeds (the other two were one "CBD Mazar" and one "Skunk#11") grew out of the soil very quickly and almost at the same time!

Danylo Just like the other two she had a great start and was ready to be transplanted from 0.5L to 3.5L nearing the end of her second week.
Fortunately coinciding with this, the first 5-finger leafs started showing up. This indicates the transition from seedling- to veg-phase. Which means we can increase the light intensity to about 400-450 PPFD. I love turning up the lights! 😻

Danylo The main training method I use has the goal to create strong lateral branch growth directly from the start. To facilitate this (in this stage) I remove basically all fan-leafs that grow on the main stem, as soon as they prevent direct light reaching the lateral branches. This makes the plant look a little pitiful at times, but they recover very quickly and (combined with high light-intensity) grow very bushy!
This is the first week where she can take this kind of abuse and bounce back quickly. So of course I went there. This is also a good example of a plant looking rough after taking off multiple fan leafs.
The colour tone of the leafs reminds me a lot of the last Lemon Z I had. Excited to see where this one goes!

Danylo Like the others in the tent, she was ready to get transplanted into her final 20L pot at the start of this week. Wouldn't have been too long before she would have become rootbound. I HATE breaking up root-spaghetti so fortunately I got lucky with the timing :)
At the end of the week she had mostly recovered from transplanting and defoliation. She also had grown enough nodes to be topped in preparation for flowering switch in the coming week.

Danylo I planned to start actual flowering for next week, so there are a few things we need to get done this week.
- Gradually reduce amount of light-hours from 18 to 12
- One more fan leaf removal up top.. depending on flower stretch this may be one of the last times.
- Up to now, the lower parts of the plant have been largely ignored. I usually kind of lollipop them when flower stretch is done - so this week we lay the foundation for that. Cuttings from this will be used to make some clones too.
All in all I am satisfied with the structure of the plant at this stage. All three do show their own specific characteristics, but they all landed roughly where I would like them to be to actually start flowering in the coming week!
