DutchBarnacle 👋Hi there and welcome to this diary! Variety is the spice of life, so this winter we'll be growing not one large, but multiple smaller strains - check out the other diaries on my profile. Our goal is to use the SCroG method to spread out the canopy evenly across the entire area of the growspace. Strains visible in this diary: 1 ) Mimosa Automatic - 65/30/5 (SIR) 2 ) Sherbet Queen Automatic - 35/60/5 (SIR) 3 ) Amnesia Haze Automatic S1 - 50/20/30 (SIR) SIR = Sativa, Indica, Ruderalis Because of circumstances, this diary was split off from another diary. For more in depth information regarding this diary, check out the main diary of this grow at https://growdiaries.com/diaries/291848-grow-journal-by-dutchbarnacle. For this germination-week you'll notice most of the daily notes are equal to that of the main diary. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day G0 The Mimosa Automatic seed was dropped onto water. Day G2 It's shell has open and the taproot is peeking out, not far enough to justify planting her already. That, and the heavy rainfall of the past weeks has moistened up the prepared soil - which is stored and revitalized in the garden - to the point that it already has been sitting next to the radiator for two days and is still a bit too moist. Because of that, there's still a bunch of fungus gnats in the soil. Those are expected to dissipate when the soil dries, there's also a few sticky yellow traps. Hence, every day waited to plant the seed means less fungus gnats in the tent to take care of. Day G3 The Mimosa Automatic (MA) still needs another day or so. Day G4 The MA seed was still sitting on the water, with a tiny taproot just poking out. Too long on the water isn't beneficial either, so I decided to plant the MA too. Now all that's left to do is to have patience. I've disabled the timer of the LED and increased its power to 50% in hope of slightly raising the temperature - it's 21°C currently - to entice some growth. Day G5 The MA has not changed significantly since planting her. We'll give her two more days, but if nothing has changed tomorrow it'll be wise to at least already prepare a new seed. [New attempt! ] Day G1: 30ml The MA is, well apparently, decomposing. To save us a day, I went ahead and dropped a new seed onto water yesterday. That seed did not change much over the course of 24 hours but it's planted now nonetheless. Perhaps this strain doesn't particularly like the glass of water germination method. On the other hand, these things happen and are the reason you don't really want to opt for buying a single seed, ever. Irregardless, the new seed is now planted and the old seed is now an experiment to see if by miracle she revives by being back on water. Day G2: The new MA has germinated! Although the was buried quite far down, after some carefull digging she's now ready to come out. Day G3 / Day 1 🎉 (nov 10th) Germination! I gently pulled her shell and sleeve off and removed her humidity dome. Day 2: 250ml anti fungal mix Well, I declared war to the fungus gnat civilisation that has been imperialising the grow space. The MA is doing fine though, I wonder how she'll take this copious amount of water. Unfortunately, there's little else I can currently do - aside from using hydrogen peroxide, which I can but don't want to use - in this grow. For background info, check the Sherbet Queen Automatic 2 diary on my profile. Day 3: 200ml anti fungal mix (pH 6.0) She's very short but her stem is sturdy. Day 6: douced outer ring of soil with anti fungal mix She's still short, but she's developing nicely! Day 8: damp soil, no water Still very short, but on track in regards to leaf development.

Happy Harvest Day!

Will update this later on, but what I can say is that this strain definitely earned its name. Anytime her branches or leaves got rustled, the entire growspace became reminiscent of orange juice and champagne.. mimosa! Its difficulty to grow mainly came down to the fungus gnat infestation we combatted. I reckon this also affected the time it took from seed to harvest, the Mimosa Auto surpassed the suggested grow time by A LOT. Aside from this, nothing out of the ordinary happened, and I cannot attribute anything to the strain given the aforementioned. As for the terpenes, those are amazing and those alone should be a reason to give this strain a try. During the (late) flower phase, any disturbance of the pheno resulted in an intense sweet orange-dominated terpene profile which has continued to become more intense during cure. Its descendance of Skunk is also clear, when handling the buds and slightly pinching them to release even more terpenes, the terpene profile reminds of the Northern Light auto - also a descendant of Skunk. (more information once something interesting is to be mentioned) As for the incredible mimosa terpenes during curing: those toned down after repeated exposure to air and in the absense of a moisture control sachet. For her effects, both one of the peer testers and I agree that, compared to strains like Northern Light Auto and Sherbet Queen Auto, the Mimosa Auto is far less potent and should be considered as a strain that takes away the sharp edge but still allows to function - not so much as a recreational strain.
