Xpie77 Grow Diary: Purple Mints (Paradise Seeds) Week 4 vegetative growth (day 28 from germination) Setup: 3 × 11-liter fabric pots, Biobizz Light-Mix, BestVA 415W LED (at ~45-50 cm height, 18/6 schedule, dimmer at ~40-50% for veg phase), EC 1.2-1.4, pH 6.2-6.5, temperature 25-27°C day / 21°C night, RH 50-60% Seed performance Three plants are still looking strong – all three have germinated and come through well. No dropouts this week; they are growing evenly and showing consistent vigor. The Purple Mints genetics seems to be well present in all three. Overall growth Height: 30-34 cm from the ground (average ~32 cm, +13 cm since week 3) Number of nodes: 7-9 true sets + top per plant Stem thickness: 9-11 mm Color: Deep dark green with a subtle purple hue already on the petioles and the newest leaves of two of the three plants (anthocyanin is becoming more apparent). The third remains completely green, but otherwise identical in development. All three are compact and bushy, with wide internodes and many side branches – perfect indica structure. The upgrade to 11L pots (instead of 7L) provides more root space, making growth even more stable; this is a good size for Purple Mints with limited veg time or trained plants (often 65-80g+ per plant possible with LST/topping). Leaf development Leaves are large, wide, and sturdy; dark green with slight purple tones on the undersides and stems of the colorful specimens. No deficiencies, no burn spots, no clawing or drooping leaves. New growth is coming in tight, shiny, and vital – the plants are responding super well to the higher light intensity of the 415W and the extra pot space. Root development Pots (now 11L) are well filled and active for all three; white, thick roots are developing quickly and filling the larger bottom without stress. No root problems – the transition to larger pots stimulates even better root growth and drinking behavior. Water & nutrients this week Watered 4x with 1.5-2 liters per plant (20-25% runoff, adjusted for larger pot) Nutrients: Hesi – TNT Complex 5 ml/L – Root Complex 2 ml/L – PowerZyme 2 ml/L – SuperVit 1 drop/10L EC after addition: 1.3-1.4, pH adjusted to 6.3 Transition went smoothly; all three reacted positively with even faster growth and tighter leaves. With 11L pots, they are now drinking more consistently. Training / shaping LST further implemented on all three: main tops fully bent and secured. Side branches guided up with clips and ties, so now there are 7-9 main branches per plant at equal height. On days 26-27, light topping was done above the 5th-6th node on all three – the new tops are already growing vigorously and filling out the canopy nicely. With the BestVA 415W (Samsung LM301B diodes + Mean Well driver, full spectrum), the coverage is perfect for the trio in a ~120x120 cm area – even PPFD, no hotspots. Pre-flower signs On two plants, small white pistils visible from day 27-28 at the nodes. The third shows nothing yet, but that’s normal variation. Still fully in veg, but the switch to 12/12 can happen in 1-2 weeks if desired. Summary week 4 The trio of Purple Mints is growing like crazy with the new BestVA 415W and the upgrade to 11L pots! Compact, bushy structure, fast node production, and early color variation in two of them. The larger pots + Hesi nutrients give a significant boost – more root space prevents limitations later in bloom, and yields of 60-80g+ per plant seem realistic with this setup. Next week I’m aiming for 40-45 cm per plant, even more even canopy formation, and possibly the start of a scrog net or more intensive LST. The smell is getting stronger: sweet mint + fruity/purple undertone when you rub the leaves. This is going to be a killer set with three strong ladies in the ideal 11L setup! 🌱

The plants remain compact and bushy – no wild stretch, perfect for the 11L pots and reinforced LST structure. Color: Deep dark green, with two plants now clearly showing a purple hue on leaf stems and new leaves (anthocyanins triggered by the flowering switch + cooler nights). The third plant remains mostly green but shows purple hints on the undersides. Flower development (week 1 flowering) Pre-flowers are developing quickly: small white stigmas are exploding at all nodes, buds are starting to form (calyxes are swelling). No real buds yet, but the sites are getting damaged and hairier. Smell is more intense: sweet mint + fruity (strawberry/banana) undertone, with a slight pungent/skunky hint – typical Purple Mints that already smells when you walk by. Leaf development Leaves are healthy and dark green, sugar leaves are growing and becoming sticky. No deficiencies, no burning or yellow edges – fan leaves remain tight. New growth is now focusing on bud formation instead of height. Root development Roots are still active in the 11L pots, but growth is slowing slightly now in flowering. White roots are filling the pot well, drainage holes show healthy activity. No stress – the larger pots help during the nutrient-hungry phase. Water & nutrients this week Watered 4-5 times with 1.8-2.2 liters per plant (25-30% adjusted to higher drinking needs in flowering) Hesi flowering schedule started: – Hesi Bloom Complex 5 ml/L – Hesi Boost 2 ml/L (2x per week) – Hesi PowerZyme 2 ml/L – Hesi SuperVit 1 drop/10L EC: 1.5-1.6, pH adjusted to 6.3 Plant is drinking more since the switch; no overfeeding signs – everything is absorbed and tight. Training / shaping LST/scrog net tightened: all main branches (7-9 per plant) kept at the same height. With minimal stretch, the canopy is nice and flat and often filled – ideal light penetration under the BestVA 415W (full spectrum, Samsung LM301B diodes). No new training anymore; only adjusting as needed. Summary week 1 flowering The switch to 12/12 went perfectly – minimal stretch, rapid stigma development, and early smell boost in all three plants. The Purple Mints genetics is already shining: compact structure, color variation, and nutrient hunger well met by Hesi Bloom + Boost and the 11L pots. The BestVA 415W (dimmed but powerful) covers the trio excellently in ~120x120 cm area. Expect formed buds and more trichomes in weeks 2-3 of flowering. Still ~7-8 weeks until harvest (total 55-60 days flowering). This trio is going to be awesome – three compact, colorful beasts under good light!

Xpie77 Grow Diary: Purple Mints (Paradise Seeds) Week 6 flowering (day 70-77 from germination, sixth week after switching to 12/12) Total week: ~week 10 from seed Setup: 3 × 11-liter fabric pots, Biobizz Light-Mix, BestVA 415W LED (at ~30-35 cm height, 12/12 schedule, dimmer at ~85-95% for late flowering), EC 1.6-1.8, pH 6.2-6.5, temperature 23-25°C day / 18-20°C night, RH 40-50% General growth Height: 48-54 cm from the ground (average ~51 cm, minimal stretch since week 2 of flowering) Number of buds: 8-10 sets + top per plant Stem thickness: 13-15 mm The plants remain compact and bushy thanks to the strong indica-dominant genetics (75% indica). No extra height, all energy goes to the buds. The 11L pots provide just enough space without restriction. Flower development (week 6 flowering) Buds are swelling quickly and becoming thick & hard – this is the phase where Purple Mints really packs on mass. Calyxes are well-filled, sugar leaves are thick and covered in trichomes. The buds are compact and starting to show that typical dense structure. On all three plants, the purple color is now clearly visible: purple hues on the buds, leaf stems, and sugar leaves (anthocyanin is coming through well due to the cooler nights and late flowering phase). Orange pistils are starting to appear among the white hairs. Aroma: Very intense – sweet mint with a fruity explosion of strawberry, banana, and sweetness. When you open the tent, it smells like fresh banana bread with a tingling, gas-like undertone. The aroma hangs heavily in the air. Leaf development Fan leaves are starting to yellow slightly (normal in late flowering), but sugar leaves remain green and sticky. No serious deficiencies. The purple glow is now prominent on all three plants – they look visually stunning with purple, green, and white trichomes. Root development Roots in the 11L pots are still active but hardly growing anymore. Drainage holes show healthy white roots. The larger pots have helped capture the nutrient-hungry late flowering phase without stress. With the 11L pots, Hesi nutrients, and the BestVA 415W, it’s performing excellently. Trichomes are starting to develop well – another 2-3 weeks until harvest (total 55-60+ days flowering, depending on trichome ripeness).
