HomeToGrow Hey, The first week went smoothly. On Tuesday, the germinated seeds went into their pots, and on Thursday, you could see the cotyledons. The LED is running at about 35% (25w), and the substrate is a 70/30 mix of Coco/Perlite. More updates to come in the following weeks. 🍃

HomeToGrow Hey, The 2nd week of veg is over and everything went pretty smoothly. I only watered once, about 7 days after planting the germinated seeds into the pots. Already, it seems like there are 2 different phenos showing up. The left one seems to be developing broader leaves, while the right plant tends toward narrower leaves. I can't really judge how this will reflect in the growth pattern as the plants are still too small. I like both phenos in terms of growth speed; it took a while for the seedlings to root, but now the growth rate is increasing daily. Also, I should mention that the right pheno is showing slight signs of a mutation, which is evident in the deformed leaves. I'm not too worried about this at this early stage; the first real leaves will be interesting to observe.

HomeToGrow Hey hey, I don't have too much to report from the last week. Both plants are continuing to develop healthily; I would prefer a faster growth rate, but that's probably due to the somewhat lower temperature of 19 to a maximum of 21 °C. Actually, the switch to 12/12 should happen in a week, but since the plants aren't even in their final pots yet, it will probably take another 2-3 weeks until flowering. So far, I've been watering once a week (also due to the holidays), but the watering interval will be increased now to ensure better nutrient supply. The LED is now running at about 55W, which should be sufficient for the size.

HomeToGrow Hey, Last week, specifically on December 31st, the time had come and both Bakerman plants were big enough to be repotted. For the final pots, I chose relatively small 3.5L pots. I added a layer of clay pebbles as drainage in the pots. For the substrate, I’m sticking with the 70:30 mix of coconut/perlite. Already the next day after repotting, both plants were growing vigorously, so after 2 days of recovery and 5 developed nodes, I topped both plants after the 3rd node. The observed leaf mutation did not continue as expected with the first real leaves, so there’s no reason for concern here. In general, both plants have a bushy growth form with short internode distances. When it comes to fertilizing, both seem to tolerate a lot of nutrients, so I will continue to increase the EC in the upcoming feedings. In the coming week, I hope to really start training the plants.

HomeToGrow Hey, After topping both plants last week, they have recovered very well since then. Midweek, I did a light defoliation on both plants so that all the shoots get direct light. At least for the left Bakerman, today I took the next training step and positioned the shoots with LST so that as many as possible get direct light and no shoot is underneath another. For the right Bakerman, I decided against it because the plant generally has very short internodal distances, and I think it needs a few more days or a week before I can continue training it as well. Other than that, there’s not much to report; both plants look very healthy and are doing well with the nutrient solution. Overall, both Bakerman seem to tolerate a higher EC compared to the last run with Apples and Bananas without any signs of over-fertilization. I think in the coming days, I’ll set up the watering system so that the plants are automatically watered daily. Regarding the purple coloration of the left Bakerman, I don’t think it’s a deficiency but rather a genetic trait. It looked similar with the Apples and Bananas, and the buds turned out really nice and purple in the end. I’m curious to see if it will be the same this time.

HomeToGrow Hey, Last week was pretty stress-free for the plants, the only thing I had to deal with was nematodes against fungus gnats. Otherwise, I had to switch to the hybrid fertilizer from Greenhouse a week earlier than planned, but what can you do when you realize too late that the fertilizer for the veg is (finally) all gone. The new fertilizer is ordered, but it won't be used this grow since this week was already the last week of vegetation. There are clearly two different phenotypes visible; the right pheno has very small internodes and grows generally very bushy, while the left pheno has noticeably larger internode spacing and, for me personally, represents the better pheno. Mainly, this is because the training progresses much more relaxed and faster. The leaf structure of both plants also shows clear differences. Generally, the left plant seems to tolerate a higher EC than the right plant (the right plant showed the first signs of clawing at an EC of 2.0-2.1). Therefore, I decided on an EC of 1.9 for now, as both plants tolerate that well. Unfortunately, due to space reasons, the nutrient tank has to go into the tent; let's see if I can train the plants well enough to fill the whole tent anyway :p The only annoying thing is that my pump gave out while installing the irrigation, so now I have to keep watering by hand. Otherwise, it's now: Let's see what the flowering brings!

HomeToGrow Hey, At the beginning of the week, I watered both plants with nematodes to counteract the occasional fungus gnats before it becomes a problem. I still like the left plant much better, and the stretch is currently resulting in a medium-sized plant with many side branches. The right plant remains very compact with many, almost too many, side branches. The stretch is also noticeable here, even though there is significantly less vertical growth. I probably need to raise the plant a bit in the next 1-2 weeks before the size difference becomes too large. I'm also considering whether or not to add a SCROG net this grow. After my pump gave out while installing the automatic watering system, I finally have a replacement, and both plants are being watered by 2 drippers each with about 1.4-1.5 liters per day. I'm fertilizing with Alfa Boost and Powerzyme once a week by hand to avoid unnecessary deposits, etc., in the tank.

HomeToGrow Hey, Another chill week has passed, and so has the 2nd week of flowering. Both plants are stretching, and the first white pistils are already showing, especially in the last 3-4 days, the stretch has really picked up. The stretch is working out well for me since the plants have grown a bit too squat for my liking, especially the one on the right. I’ve now bought Drainmaster risers to bring the right plant up to the same height as the left Bakerman. Actually, I should have done some defoliation this week, but I just didn’t have the time, so I’ll do the defoliation along with the lolipopping as usual next weekend after the 3rd week. The LEDs are running at a total of 120 W, and I’ll probably keep it that way for the rest of the run. There have only been small changes in the feeding, and the EC is now at 2.1, with the pH set to 6.0. I’m watering automatically every day with about 1.4 liters. I admit it’s a bit too much for the small Bakerman, but what can you do? In this system, I can’t adjust the watering individually. Maybe I’ll switch back to Autopots in the next runs, but we’ll see; it’s actually running pretty well as it is, just the tank in the tent is annoying and takes up quite a bit of space when the plants grow bushier.

HomeToGrow Hey, The grow is still pretty easy to manage. Today on flower day 19, I followed up with defoliation and lollipopping, and I noticed that the left Bakerman, which looks significantly better, shows signs of hermaphroditism at some nodes. I can't confirm that 100% yet, but I've removed all possible male flowers and am closely observing the plants to decide whether to toss it or not. All suspicious flower sites were found at the lower to middle nodes; I had something similar happen with 2 Apple Fritters, and in the end, it wasn't that bad, and I was spared from seeds or microseeds, but it's still not nice. I'm still wondering how I could forget to defoliate when switching to flowering; now I've had to remove a whole bucket of leaves and shoots mainly from the left Bakerman. Hopefully, that wasn't a bit too much stress. As for the phenotypes, I definitely prefer the left one in terms of growth and vitality; the first clear flower sites and initial trichomes have already formed on the leaves. To be honest, I don't like the right pheno's growth at all; it stayed very small for me with too tight internode spacing. In flowering, the pheno remained very small, and real stretch was only noticeable in the second week of flowering. Overall, the pheno is about 5 days behind the left pheno in its development. However, if the flowers taste good, the yield is secondary for me.

HomeToGrow Moin, A relaxed week is behind the plants, both have now come out of the stretch and into the flowering stage. The left pheno is showing some really nice bud formation while the right pheno leaves a bit to be desired, but as long as something tasty comes out at the end, I really don't care much. Overall, this grow has been really easy from the start without major issues, which I really like. Compared to the previous grow where I really had to watch out not to over-fertilize the plant and the stretch was about 300%. The only thing I should probably do is another defoliation, which I thought I might have removed too much last time, but both phenos have grown quite a bit again. 😅 Especially with the left pheno, the trichomes on the sugar leaves are already clearly visible, and I have to say the terps are completely blowing me away; so far, it’s a very sweet lemon cake, and if some gas comes into play now, I’ll be in heaven, and I really wasn't promised too much on Mary Jane from Flo. 🤤 So far, it seems my concern about the plant being hermaphroditic was unfounded, and no further signs have appeared.

HomeToGrow Hey, A relaxed flowering week is behind us, both plants have entered the flowering stage. Today I had to defoliate both plants well again so that more light reaches the lower buds. I had to remove quite a few more leaves than I would have liked, and still, it feels like you can't even tell. 😅 From now on, my task is just to refill the tank once a week and remove the drain from the trays, so everything is pretty chill. I also have to say that I didn't expect the tent to fill up so well, even though I really didn't train both plants much. Regarding the two plants, for me, there is clearly a winning pheno so far, and that remains the left plant. The rumor is that it really leans towards a tasty lemon cake/dessert direction, and it gets louder as the flowering progresses. 🤤 I like the bud stacking on the right one better, but in terms of growth, flower formation, and terps, it just can't keep up. I would categorize the smell so far as a lighter bathroom cleaner, the terps are still really quiet, but let's wait and see, maybe it will come out later with that pheno.

HomeToGrow Hey, A relaxed week has passed, marking the end of the 6th flowering week. Aside from a tank change, which was really just refilling the tank, and one hand watering with Powerzyme and Alfa Boost, nothing much was done here, very chill. Regarding the plants, I can say that after the defoliation last week, there isn't much to see; both plants have really bulked up in leaf mass, which puts me in a bit of a dilemma since I actually need to defoliate more while not stressing the plants further. I really don't want any nanners 😅 So far, I was a bit disappointed with the right plant's terpene profile (it had very little smell), but that has completely changed now, and this pheno is also leaning towards the sweet side. However, I can't smell any gas, and it stays more on the sweet and menthol side, creating a very refreshing aroma. With the right pheno, it's clear that this one is significantly ahead, producing more flower mass, more trichomes, and more terpenes; this pheno is performing really strong so far! The smell is still very sweet, almost like a cake with a good dose of gas, but without being overpowering. Oh, and I had to get a new activated carbon filter; the old one just couldn't keep the smell in check anymore. 😂

HomeToGrow Hey, Everything stays the same and the grow continues to be very relaxed without much work. Both plants are steadily increasing in mass and trichome density, although the right pheno is already making noticeably smaller buds. The smell also remains unchanged; the left pheno is a sweet cake that has been sprayed with gas without being dominant and pungent. The smaller right pheno has the same sweet base note, but with refreshing menthol without having developed much gas so far. I wasn't promised too much! :p

HomeToGrow Hey, This week went by without any major issues, but both plants are showing a deficiency or rather an imbalance between the nutrients. I suspect that due to too much magnesium during fertilization, I've encountered a problem with the calcium supply to the plants. I've now reduced the amount of fertilizer when preparing the nutrient solution and added more CalMag to see if that resolves the issue; I'll know in a few days. I like both plants now in terms of terps, even though the smaller one probably won't yield too much. A first trichome check looks pretty good, and many of the heads are milky, but there are still some clear ones, so I'm currently assuming I'll harvest in about 2 weeks.

HomeToGrow Hey, The penultimate week of the grow is over, and there's not much left on the agenda. Unfortunately, I could only partially contain the nutrient problems, and necrosis is still forming on the upper leaves, but I guess I'll have to live with that now. The buds seem to be getting a little bigger every day, and especially the left pheno is rock hard and covered in trichomes. I really like the terpene profile of both phenos, the left one with its sharp, gassy sweetness and the right one with its sweet menthol scent! I can already highly recommend the Bakerman to everyone; there hasn't been a single problem until the end, very robust and compact medium-sized plants with loud terpene profiles and many solid buds. 🤤 Right now, I'm planning to freeze a large part of it directly and process it into fresh frozen dry ice dry sift hash later, let's see how that turns out. 😅 Inappropriately, I’ll be on a business trip next week (Cheers to the automatic watering) and probably the scissors will come out afterward. By then, some trichomes should be amber, while the majority is milky; I'm hoping for a rough ratio of 10% amber to 90% milky.

HomeToGrow Hey, The last week of the grow is now over, and this coming Sunday both plants will be harvested. The trichomes are mostly milky with only a few amber ones. Personally, I usually prefer it this way rather than having a higher proportion of amber trichomes. The calcium deficiency has continued, but being so close to the end, it shouldn't cause any major problems. For the last 2 days, there's been a very small amount of nutrients, and the medium has been lightly flushed as well. Regarding the aroma, it remains a very sweet ice cream scent with two different expressions: the left pheno has a sweet, slightly lemony note, while the gasiness has noticeably decreased in the last week, making the sweetness dominate even more. The right pheno retains its sweet menthol aroma; unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with the bud development here. In direct comparison with the left pheno, there feels like a world of difference. For the harvest, I'll probably choose the best buds and freeze the rest before drying to process them later. 😄 A final conclusion will follow after drying and curing; I'm already looking forward to the result! 🍃

HomeToGrow Hey, This strain really didn’t promise too much! The grow went very smoothly, and the calcium deficiency is definitely on me. It was a dream until harvest, even though I could have been a bit less lazy; a little more training and especially defoliation could have had a positive effect as well. The only small negative thing was that with the left pheno, I found about 4-5 male flowers just before harvest, but I couldn’t find any seeds or microseeds. It could also be that this is on me, and in the end, I had a bit too much stress from the calcium deficiency and late defoliation. Both plants were dried for 9 days and then put into jars for curing. From day one, there was a really pleasant smell that gets sweeter every day. The 2 phenos showed fundamentally 2 different growth patterns, but I definitely preferred the larger left pheno over the smaller right plant in terms of growth. The bud structure was also completely different between the two. The left pheno produced larger buds, but they were a bit airier. The right pheno, on the other hand, produced small rocks. Where both phenos agree is in the purple tones in the bloom and the terpene profile. Both are straight fruity Gelato, and really not in small amounts. 🤤 I would describe the right pheno as fruity Gelato/Candy. The left pheno has a pleasant freshness that I can’t quite assign to a flavor, closest to a Gelato with eucalyptus bath additive. 😅 In terms of effect, both are more for me personally to just relax in the evening and are perfect as a sleep aid.
