Seedling sprouted, and put straight into a tiny sprouting pot until the first true leaves appeared. Nutes added at that point and put on a 24/0 light schedule.

This week I experienced what appears to be a brown algae bloom, which is a pain. Probably a result of sprouting in a transparent glass jar. hufff, my fault for rushing. Everything now in a blacked out bucket with a black lightproof cloth over it, and adding bennies daily (2,5mL of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens), Also, while doing the solution swap have taken the opportunity to pour some trichoderma onto the roots). Moved from my usual organic lemon to a more potent commercial pH down. unsure if to swap from the 24/0 light schedule to 6/1... She's an auto, so shouldn't be an issue either way. Will stick to 24/0 for now as I found out my light may be 150W vs 300W...

Losing track of time - it's now day 15 of the grow since it's been put into the larger bucket. That's the start of week 3... Replaced the blackout cloth with something more reflective (foil tape and tin foil), and the plant is growing MUCH better. Still have small amounts of brown algae, but the bennies have done their job. Going to stop adding tricho and reduce the others to twice a week rather than daily. Looks like it's nearly time to LST - not going to top her due to being an auto strain... also hoping to get my new light this week (found out my old light is a 100W. Works great for flowering due to being very red).

This was a much better week - brown algae has been apparently eradicated. New light (1200w) arrived and got set up. Light schedule has been changed to : 3hrs on 12hrs sunlight 3hrs on 6hr dark Stopped adding bennies daily, they now get added weekly. LST has been started, and she's dealing well. As shes an auto, not going to top her.

She's transitioning into the flowering stage, and the new light is clearly doing her good. Now set up on the following schedule: 1200W: 6/2 100W : 24/0 Nutes bumped up to support flowering, and she's moved way from the sunlight and into a darkroom. I'm worried about the temperature in the tent - not sure that the 4" fan is moving enough air through the filter to keep the tent cool. Unsure if to drop the filter and just vent the air outside or find a bigger fan...

Was a bit stupid this week... I got used to the plant drinking only a little bit, and didn't check her water all week... So when I went to do the weekly water change, I was shocked to find some yellow leaves and nearly no water. Doh! Lesson learnt, check water daily. She looks like she's recovering, we'll see what happens.

This week the impact of running out of water has been seen. A few leaves have curled up and died. I think also the light was a bit close, so have raised that. To stress the plant less, I changed the light schedule from 6/2 to 12/12. Will revert to 6/2 in a week or so, after she's recovered. It's my first grow after all, so go easy on me!

Grow Questions

I have uploaded a few more pictures - getting worries as the yellowing is continuing. Any ideas? pH was 5.6 on Saturday when I first mixed the nutes), and then with the air stone has come up to 6.5 or so. I've added a small amount of pH down to temper this back down.

Hey there morpheus you have cal mag deficiency , you need to add cal mag to you feed and as a spray , double or triple your micro in the feed and or use it as a spray 3ml/L once every couple of days around sun down, the problem should stop spreading and the plants should recover within 10 days. Hope this helps ! 🚀

No one said this was going to be easy! For my first canna grow, this is a lot more complicated than I expected :p With the nute deficiency apparently sorted (no more yellowing... dead leaves are dry, but other leaves seem happier), I now spotted some critters on the leaves. Popped out the microscope, and from what I can tell they appear to be spider mites. These recently killed off one of my zucchini plants, so Im not too happy. Problem is - what can I do about it? The plant is in bloom, and I don't want pesticides on the flowers... I put an extra fan in there, ramped up the speed to get some SERIOUS airflow. Any other ideas? EDIT: After some quick research, have sprayed the lot with a solution of everclear and water (1:10), trying to get the underside of leaves as well. Fan speed already ramped up. Now I cross my fingers!
