So since I can't wait for the weather to get over itself and warm up already, I've decided to start my two experimental grows inside in a makeshift corner of my room, since I can't be assed setting up the entire tent for just a few weeks. I am starting these ladies under a 150w COB(3x 50W). I plan on topping these babies, really just aiming to make maybe 4 fat tops from this little 1L pot, I plan on growing the Summer Experiments on my balcony, in order for the plants to take advantage of the way the light hits them, they need to be trained and kept at a similar height. Will definately be a challenge, but I'm excited! My main grow this summer will be 6x 10L Air Pot Autos and 1-2x Photo period straight soil(ground) grow!
Seed germed after just 24 hours in a dvd case(wet paper towel) and sprouted 36 hours later! Impressed so far with the growth on this Zkittles Auto! Also didn't seem to stretch as the Amnesia right next to it did... I overestimated the power of the COBs, and had them way too high for the first 2-3 days as I was finding the right spot.
Week 1 Summary: Going great so far! Everything looks good!
Day 8-10: Added in a humidifier as the RH dropped to 20% the first few days of this week. Environment is more stable now at 50-60% RH and it's also a little bit cooler.
Day 11-14: I have hardly been giving them any water this week as I wanted to give them(this Zkittlez and her sister Amnesia) their first big one at the end of week 2(Day 14). I upped the dose of rhiz to 3/4 strength and watered until runoff(about 400ml), and I won't water them again for atleast 3-4 days, depending how fast they drink that up. This Zkittlez is really impressing me so far, leaves have a very nice form and color to them. Still waiting to put these outside! I'm thinking earliest I can put them out is probably end of the month...
Week 2 Summary: Environment is on point! This Zkittles is charging onward! Plan on topping her sometime this week once she gets her 5th node. Will top above her 3rd, and cut her first off, so that I can try a mini-mainline with 4 main colas in this little 1 liter pot! I'll be stoked if it works out! Wish me luck!
Day 15-17: She's blasting along! Enjoyed that full feed of water I gave her at the end of week 2 and continues to plow along!
Day 18-21: She's been growing so well I just had to top her on day 18! Sad I had to top the part of her that showed her two first tiny pistils! I don't even think she realized she was topped as just 24 hours later there was obvious amounts of visible growth! Just awesome! And just 48 hours topping, she had grown her nodes out far enough so that I could tie them down! Stunned so far! This is my first time topping a plant(on purpose lol), and an autoflower at that! In a 1 liter pot!! At the end of week 3 she's looking great! Handling the ties like a champ and smashing her way into week 4, leaving her much smaller Amnesia Auto sister behind! Gave her some veg nutes with her feed on day 21. Keeping these plants on a strict wet/dry cycle.
Week 3 Summary: Just an awesome plant so far! Growth was phenomenal after her first large watering at the end of week 2. So good that I topped her on day 18! She didn't miss a beat and just 48 hours later I was able to start tying down her branches! At the end of the week she got some veg nutes with her feed for the first time! Let's see if she can put it to use?! On to week 4!
Week 4 Summary: Doing good! Continuing to impress with her growth for her small pot! But she's starting to show the size of the pot now, Decided it was time to give them a little calmg to get them covered at the start of flower on day 26 and she's doing great! Am finally able to put all the plants outside at the end of week 4 for these 1L. This Zkittlez doesn't seem like she will disappoint 🙌🙌😁
Oh and forgot to mention. After putting them outside, I noticed in the late afternoon that the plants were starting to get plagued by aphids. Little flying colonizers and the wingless ones... both the black aphid type, also known as a plant louse... Sooo I decided to get the neem oil out and gave the plants two good spray downs before the sun went down. Will probably follow up with one last one tomorrow! Better to get it out of the way now before the plants go into full on flower!
Day 29-32: So after putting the plants outside(on day 28 for the 1 liters), it didn't even take 24 hours for pests to rush them! I discovered conolnizer winged aphids and also some normal black aphids! The plants were just transitioning to flower so they were crawling up in between the newly forming bud spots! Very nasty thought to smoke that much aphids! I didn't include any pics of the 1 liters because compared to the 3 liters they were showing the best signs of control after numerous sprays with neem oil/water mix at first and then a few days later followed by a water/alcohol mix. The water/alcohol mix seems to finally have done the trick on day 32! After giving them a real good dowsing and moving them to the windy side of the house they seem to be more or less pest free! Praise to the heavens!
Day 33-35: I check for new pests daily and pick off any i find, but it's been looking very promising so far! On day 34(thursday 06.06) we had a massive cold snap! Temperature dropped to 14 C after being 28 C the previous day lmao... And at night it dropped down to 11 C... My main run just started in te 10L airpots and they were on day 4 when they cold snap hit! Lmao they are being tested right off the bat! This Zkittlez didn't really seem to mind the heavy gusts of wind and cold snap too much. She drinks alot now! Well she is in a 1L pot so I'll have to water her almost every day soon... Ended the week off with a 24 degree day on friday again. But we're going to keep getting colder nights for a while... looks like another 2 weeks or so... Also started to feed with 1/4 strength bloom nutes! And holding off on the calmg until I see signs they need it now that they are in the sun!
Week 5 Summary: Put plants outside! Had pests within 24 hours! Sprayed with neem/water followed by Water/alcohol a few days later and it seems to have worked atleast for the 1 liter plants! Had a cold snap toward the end of the week and the future looks cold(at night) and rather wet as lots of thunderstorms are forecasted the next 2 weeks!
Sorry for late update, was too busy atm.
Week 6 Summary: upped her nutes a bit, and added one dose of calmag! Shitty weather with around 12 degree celcius nights and 80% RH... supposed to get a bit better next week. None the less she continues to push on!
Week 7 Summary: Weather has gotten a bit warmer so she loved that for sure! Noticed some burnt tips so I decided, since she drinks her pot dry within 24 hours when it's nice out, that I would water in rotation, once day with nutes, then one without, and so on. So far she seemed to be responding positively!
Week 8 Summary: Weather has been great again this week! She's loving it! Supposedly it will get a bit colder again the following few weeks 😓 Let's get this baby to the finish line! By the looks of her here I'd say she will go about 85-90 days! On to week 9!
Week 9 Summary: Damn weather decided to take a turn for the worse once again, and will be even worse next week with proper rain storms and shit... hot damn just ain't catching a break this year it seems. She's doing good though, still no signs of mold despite the perfect conditions for it, nor do I have any powdery mildew! Yay! On to week 10!
