Hi all This plant continues to impress me even tho it's a confirmed male It has managed to not only survive but thrive in the almost freezing conditions Lack of care and maintenence and also the 4 days I kept it in total darkness.
I thought I would list a few of the desirable traits that I have noticed in this plant that has convinced me to keep some pollen for a breeding project.
Firstly is it's apparent ability to withstand constant temps ranging from cold to very cold.
2nd is it's general growth structure plenty of branching and shortish internodal spacing
3rd is the smell of the leaves and stems when rubbed it reminds me of buds well into flower 😯
A fruity tangy pleasant aroma that I hope is passed on as a successive trait when i breed with him.
4th is it's genetic lineage I did some research on the history of colorado Clementines and was pleased to find that the base genetics were very strong and had several well known strains in it's genotype.
To name a few it has C99 , bigbud, jack herer, northern lights #5 ,lambsbread, shiva skunk as well as various other
Hazes and afghani genetics So it's a real mongrel breed but has potential as a stud pollen donor
So there we have it folks I will continue updating this diary until I have collected the pollen and that will be it
Thanks for stopping by 👍
Good idea
Just wondering how do you plan to quarantine the pollin as you grow outdoors?
Im guessing Australia is a big place so it shouldn’t be too difficult to put distance between them :)
@DILLIGAF, thanks for illuminating a whole branch of learning I did not even consider existed.
Will be delving in to pollen and best practices when handling to learn more.
Cheers big ears 👍🏽
@Techpuffin, good question the only females i have are in my tent and the males outside however once it starts poppin pollen I need to make sure I don't inadvertantly carry it inside to the girls on my clothes or hands So I plan to only go near the male once Ive already checked on the girls for that day and will take xtra precautions when it;s shedding Gonna sieve it and freeze it for later on
Well you may have found a keeper genetics wise let's hope for the best so as to continue on a new generation with awesome characteristics you are looking for awesome looking plant..
