kohlrabi In the last grow of 2025, photo plants will be used again, but so that I don't have to wait so long, this time only โfastโ versions are in the selection. Both varieties have a specified flowering time of 7 weeks.
In the last grow, I used my homemade irrigation system for the first time, and since it worked excellently and I had no irrigation problems whatsoever for the entire time, I will use it again in this grow.
And what else has proven itself? The Biotabs fertiliser system. This time, I'm again using the full programme for the โJust Add Waterโ strategy.
I soaked the seed in distilled water with a touch of humic acid for 24 hours. It then germinated in a Root Riot cube within 4 days. As I still wanted to clean my grow tent, I didn't plant the seedlings in their final pots straight away, but put them in small pots first. This worked well this time โ in the past, it wasn't always possible for me to water them properly this way.

kohlrabi The end of the year was more than exhausting, especially mentally, and we have cut back on our cannabis consumption a little to have enough energy and clarity for the challenges ahead. That's why there are only two plants in the grow tent this time instead of three. I hope this will allow me to take better care of each of the ladies. It also gives them more space at the end of the grow.
At the end of the first week, I transplanted the seedlings into their final pots. There they also have the usual Bio Tabs ingredients: Startrex, Silicium Flash, and Mycotex directly on the roots. I added Bactrex to the first thorough watering. And of course - two bio tabs per pot.
In my last grow, I used recycled soil that I prepared with a lot of effort, but it turned out to be a lot of extra work, because it contained all kinds of seeds and animals. This time, new soil with pumice. I will use recycled soil in the garden, but not again in the box.
So far, so good.

kohlrabi I'm quite behind. My husband is ill and has been in hospital for a long time, so I have to manage everything at home on my own. Not so easy with two children. Please forgive me if I don't write here on time for the time being. I'll catch up on everything eventually.
By the second week at the latest, it became clear to me that something was wrong with this plant. At first, I blamed it on a nematode infection, which I then diligently combated by watering it with nematodes. But as we will see in the next entry, this only made things worse... To be continued.

kohlrabi Unfortunately, I missed a week. As I said, things were chaotic at home โ I can't be too hard on myself for that. Still, a pity.
I think an unconscious reason for the missing photo last week was the disastrous development of this plant here. As you can see, the leaves are completely stunted. I plucked up the courage to ask an experienced grower what the problem might be, and she told me that the problem was with the roots. I suspect it was overwatering. Because of the terrible fungus gnats infestation, I watered nematodes several times โ and certainly poured too much water on the plant in the process. Fortunately, it's a photoperiod plant. I'm letting the veg period run a little longer than planned so that it can recover.

kohlrabi Allowing the plant to dry out completely and now only watering it from below has really helped. Although the necrotic leaves have not recovered, the new growth looks normal. I have removed the unsightly damaged foliage, topped the plant and started LST. I will probably make the switch next week or the week after next. The plant is small, but I have to be careful not to let my other plant become too big.

kohlrabi At last, our little plant is visibly on the mend. My husband is still in hospital and everything that isn't essential to running the household is on the back burner. Luckily, I have automatic watering via wick, otherwise the poor plants would surely have died by now.
This week, I treated them both to some BoomBoom spray and today I switched the the lighting to 12/12 to initiate the flowering phase.
