Germination

SundancerS The Permanent Marker seeds took a bit of time but successfully germinated after six days. The excitement is high because this is already the second seed from Super Strains that has germinated on the first try. The seedling definitely looks strong already, and we are very curious about this strain. At the moment, we are still in familiar territory: germination in Lightmix. But soon we will be leaving this safe ground. 😉 For the first time, we will be doing a grow entirely with mineral nutrients since this is a photoperiod plant, and we've upgraded both our equipment and techniques accordingly. We have an exciting grow diary ahead of us that we want to share with you, aiming for a successful and bountiful conclusion. Whether the strain really tastes like "Edding" will be revealed. We are very curious. As always, we welcome feedback, tips, and support from the GD community. A heartfelt thank you goes to Super Strains and Hy-Pro for supporting this diary; we can't wait to see what awaits us! 😍

SundancerS The first week went very well. The permanent marker is not ready for topping yet, so it will get a few more days. The spacing between the shoots is quite short. Let's see if "our Monk" can handle that. Overall, everything is going well. Let's keep it going. :-)

SundancerS Surprise of the week: The Permanent Marker shows an impressively dominant Indica structure, compact, robust, and full of confidence. The leaves are large, deep green, and look so healthy as if they've signed a fitness contract. The growth is going smoothly, with a pleasantly short internodal distance that already makes you excited for the coming weeks. Overall, the plant appears stable and well-fed, with no signs of issues or stress. During trimming, it suddenly became very aromatic, a first olfactory promise of what's to come. It was also topped to better distribute the energy. We removed the bottom two shoots, which would have just been spectators anyway. Very strong performance in week 3, this lady means business.

SundancerS The lady looks like she’s straight out of a picture book: juicy green, healthy, and with a hairstyle somewhere between curly and indica-afro. The leaves are super wide, really nice and indica-like, and you can immediately tell where this journey is headed. For week 3 of veg, there are already surprisingly many shoots visible. She’s being fed strictly according to plan, which she obviously appreciates a lot. There was plenty of LST, almost with a slightly sadistic touch, but the Permanent Marker takes it all extremely calmly. No stress, no fuss, just handling everything like a pro. Strong plant with a stable mindset. She needs it too, because the ScrOG net is already ready. Her thirst for water is considerable; the lady knows exactly what she needs and lets me know reliably. Overall, very vital, very present. The Monk was fully lived out: neatly tied, well-structured, everything nicely under control. Result: a top-prepared plant, ready for the next steps. What do you think of our plant? 😁

SundancerS The new week in the grow tent feels a bit like a visit to an overly motivated gym newbie: everything is growing, everything is pushing forward, and no one knows their limit. The Permanent Marker stands there like a stocky beauty with broad Indica leaves, so healthy that you almost feel guilty for even picking up scissors. Shoots everywhere, strong, ambitious, all with the firm intention of being the main character. The selection of who gets to stay feels more like a casting show than gardening, because really, everyone deserves to move on to the next round. The internode spacing is so short that you have to look twice to even see where one section ends and the next begins, which doesn’t make things any easier. The plant takes nutrients like it’s an energy drink, responding to every dose with even more growth, very pleasing but also slightly concerning when you glance towards the tent ceiling. SCROG is officially shifting from a nice plan to an absolute necessity. One shoot has bid farewell in the heat of battle (RIP, little hero), but it was stoically dealt with. The remaining candidates have graciously taken on the freed-up energy. Overall, the feeling remains: everything is going excellently, maybe even too excellently. If this keeps up, the question won’t be whether the Permanent Marker performs, but whether the tent will ultimately be big enough for its ambition. What do you all think of our Permanent Marker?

SundancerS Fifth week of Veggie for the Permanent Marker, and upon opening the tent, there was the classic "Who secretly added nutrients here?" moment, the growth spurt was that intense. The 1.5 days of added bloom light clearly provided just the right stimulus: no bloom start, but a solid turbo boost for the structure. Before the final move, the tent was cleaned and polished; you don't want a restart in chaos. The scrog net is in place, and the lady was decisively but properly shaped into the grid. For a moment, there was concern that the intense LST in the last week might stress her into pre-flowering: unfounded, she remains well-behaved in Veggie. The bloom light is off again, the focus is clearly on creating area instead of forming buds. The canopy shows a rich green, healthy color without any signs of deficiency. Her thirst is impressive as she drinks like a biathlete at the Olympics. In the net, she spreads her shoots ambitiously, filling quadrant by quadrant with visible energy. A lot of dynamics, stable health, and a structure that already makes you excited for the flowering phase. Have you ever managed to install a bloom in every quadrant? 😅

SundancerS Our permanent markers have really made friends with the SCROG net and you could almost say they've accepted it as their new home. Unfortunately, there are currently only paparazzi photos straight from the tent, but hey, stars need their privacy. The number of buds is not final yet. It's going to be that legendary "Who gets to stay?" decision, where you feel like you're in a casting show. And yes... we still haven't managed to pull just one bud per net square: overestimation seems to be part of the game. ;-P What really impresses, though: The leaves look strikingly healthy all the way to the tips, lush, vital, and without any fuss. Hy-Pro nutrients and the spray mix are delivering premium service here. A sincere "Thank you, Team Hy-Pro." The plant is growing homogeneously, appears stable, and seems to feel right at home in the tent climate. In the next few days, a moderate defoliation is on the agenda, but for now, it can continue to get used to the net and surroundings; we don't want to provoke any culture shock. Overall, it gives a confident, strong impression and is full of vigor. If it keeps this up, the flowering phase will definitely not be a quiet stroll, but rather a well-planned triumphal march through the net.

SundancerS The Permanent Marker has started flowering cleanly and shows strong, controlled growth. The stretch has cautiously begun, still moderate but noticeable. The experiment with the second SCROG net seems promising so far, as the shoots are almost leveling themselves to a height. A few side shoots have been removed, everything is in the green zone. Thanks to Hy-Pro Spraymix, the leaves are lush green and vital all the way to the tips. However, starting this flowering week, it will be discontinued. With an EC of 2.2 and a pH of 5.8, the nutrient solution also seems well balanced. Their thirst is remarkable: about 1.3 liters per day go through without any issues. Overall, a good, promising start to flowering.

SundancerS The Permanent Marker has once again pushed its height impressively in week 2 and is shooting up like a highly motivated cactus on caffeine. The spacing between the nodes is clean and tidy, almost as if it's following its own little architectural plan. It's grown beautifully evenly, with just one shoot needing to give way for the equality of the others, but now we're all back on the same team. We've defoliated up to the second net, and the spacing between the shoots has been fine-tuned again, because you can never have enough order (shoutout to Monk). The leaves are simply gorgeous, especially the narrow, 11-bladed leaves that we've never seen before. A true plant premium edition from the designer. Everything is nice and airy again, and the plant looks healthy, as if it just returned from an exclusive plant spa. It has been a pleasure working with her; she is just the perfect plant partner. The Hy-Pro nutrients have done their job very reliably without us having to lift a finger. Now we're excited to see what the next weeks will bring and whether she will continue to surprise us with so much plant beauty. 👉

SundancerS The Permanent Marker has now settled in very well after two weeks under the SCROG net; you could almost say she's now the chess champion in the tent. The canopy still looks beautiful, almost as if she were participating in a plant beauty contest and regularly getting 10 points. In terms of height, she's only gained a little, but the flower sites are really starting to show now, small hints of a magnificent outcome. The distribution in the tent is good, even though there are a few slight height differences, but hey, not every shoot can become a skyscraper. The plant is healthy and living her best green dream. The Hy-Pro nutrients and the strain work hand in hand, like a perfectly synchronized duo. Everything is running smoothly, the only challenge: the tent wall, which is slowly being taken over by her. 👽

SundancerS The spontaneous vacation was almost the nail in the coffin for the permanent markers, but which grower takes a relaxed vacation during a run? :-P The irrigation system was set up, but not fully functional, which meant the poor plant went without water for 3 days. The consequences were almost catastrophic, but the good news: It has recovered surprisingly well, as if it just forgave us. The stretch seems to be well completed, and now it's all about bud development. Despite the short drought, the plant is healthy and stable. We expect the next few weeks to be calmer and the nutrient uptake to be optimized again to significantly boost the yield. If the rest of the flowering continues like this, we expect a good harvest in the end.

SundancerS The Permanent Marker is running like a well-oiled machine! The experience with two SCROG nets has been great so far, and the plant now looks like a jungle of dense, green shoots. The training is clearly visible, and the branches are spreading out nicely. The plant hasn't gained much height, but that's okay because now it's really starting to spread out! I did the lollipopping all the way to the second net, which keeps the base clear and optimizes bud development on the upper shoots. The buds are developing well and getting noticeably bigger. Overall, it's been a very calm grow week, with a healthy, stable plant. The look is just cool, almost like a dense green jungle, and we're excited to see how the strain behaves in the flowering phase over the next few weeks. 👻

SundancerS A calm grow week is coming to an end. The Permanent is continuously building its buds. The dry stress we put it through two weeks ago is still hanging a bit in the branches... Still, everything seems to be going well and normally. On to the next week. :)

SundancerS Ah, the Permanent Marker – a true master of adaptation. In week 13, she stands there like a ripe tree in the jungle, with a closed canopy of leaves. The SCROG nets have taught her a lot: the branches have spread out nicely, and the buds have developed into small but fine treats. She has a stable stance and continues to grow like a beautiful, plump bush. Her buds may not be the biggest yet, but they have shaped up nicely over the past few weeks, so we are really proud of the progress. The genetics from Super Strains are showing, no bent branches and no signs of stress. This little green soldier knows how to navigate the ups and downs of a grow cycle. The delicate "spider legs" still ensure that she takes up plenty of space in the tent. In terms of smell, she could easily pass as a plant perfume, and we hope that in the coming weeks, even more mass develops so we can truly enjoy the harvest!😋

SundancerS The Permanent Marker is now a real powerhouse! The buds have become thicker and denser, and it looks like the growing plant it was meant to be. Looking back, it started as a little seedling that bravely developed its structure through LST and topping, and now it shows that all that effort has really paid off. The buds are perfectly distributed, and no branches have fallen, even though the plant has gained a lot of mass. The Hy-Pro nutrients have reliably supported us, and the plant is still healthy and vigorous. The smell with every touch is intense, which makes us even more excited for the harvest. In short: We are super happy with this grow – the Permanent Marker is showing us what it's really capable of! 😏

SundancerS Well, what can I say... She's gained mass again, and the buds already feel nice and firm. In terms of smell, it's only slightly noticeable, but in the middle of the week, when checking the terpenes with a magnifying glass, she smelled really interestingly like melon. :-P The first amber-colored terpenes are visible, so she got fertilizer for the last time this week and will now be put on a pure water diet. So far, it's been an absolutely relaxed grow. :-)

SundancerS Our Permanent Marker is now a real bud production factory! In the 10th week of flowering, she is fully in her element and still cranking out some serious bud mass, as if she discovered growth as her life goal. The amber trichomes on the flowers are now visible, it's getting serious! This week we finally switched her to "just water" and there are no more nutrients, just a water shower, as if she's preparing for her spa vacation. The long spider legs remain rock solid, nothing is wobbling. She stands there like a plant queen, not giving up her throne even for a hurricane. And the smell? Well, the good lady remains a quiet neighbor, producing only a little aroma, but the buds, oooooooh, they are a dream! The scent is so delicious that you almost want to take a bite. We're excited to see how the final stretch looks, but one thing is for sure: she's delivering in a very strong way! 😛

SundancerS It's almost time to say "time to say goodbye"... Our Permanent Marker has definitely reached its final week. It has become really magnificent and the purple color of its leaves is beautiful. It has really nice, thick buds and we're already looking forward to the upcoming harvest! See you again next week :-)

Happy Harvest Day!

The Permanent Marker is now finished and has proven to be true top genetics throughout the entire grow phase. Already in weeks 3-4, it shone with thick, noticeably wide leaves and reacted super well to Hy-Pro nutrients and the spray mix. The training with two SCROG nets paid off completely; the branches are evenly distributed, and the bud structure looks really nice. LST and topping supported the plant without it complaining even once. The flowering phase went smoothly; the buds gained mass and became increasingly compact. Towards the end, it started to purple beautifully, which made it visually particularly attractive. Even the heaviest buds couldn't make the branches wobble. In week 14, we spotted the first amber trichomes, after which it was just pure water supply. The plant consistently absorbed nutrients well. All in all, a healthy plant with strong buds, stable structure, and a lovely purple finish that brought us joy every week. From our perspective, definitely a grow recommendation!

@Growingdaddyo, That's why the two side branches have stayed and they have already gotten used to the plenty of space. :-)

@GrowerBaal, thank you so much 😀. Really a chill strain, builds up nicely, doesn't act up.

@SundancerS, I recently ordered something from them too, I didn't see the strain there at all. I'll soon try their Next of Kin with a diary.

I would love to be as small as in "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" and then run through a forest like that, jumping naked into resinous buds. I just thought that when I saw the picture from the low angle. Sorry, I can be a bit chatty when I'm really high. ^^

@Kushycat, hey, that's a nice thought, we would just join in and jump around the flowers naked :D 😀😇😎
