Let's do this! After six months, we're germinating more seeds, and it can't be anything other than Spanish Moon S1 from Lovin in Her Eyes.
A little introduction to start this diary. As West Side Growth, I work as a cultivation manager at the Czech University of Agriculture. We have just completed a phenohunt of 120 plants from 18 strains, and we will be adding more unique genetics to our portfolio. One of them is Spanish Moon S1.
I used a hydrogen peroxide protocol for germination because we had some minor problems with germination when setting up the last phenohunt.
The technique is the wet towel method with a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution. This method promotes seed germination. I drew the information from an experiment described in this article 10.21769/BioProtoc.3875.
The seeds will germinate at a temperature of 23-24°C, enclosed in a light-proof container. I believe it will work. After the seeds sprout and the roots appear, I will transfer them to cotton wool without peroxide so that they germinate properly.
The estimated time for the seeds to sprout is 24-36 hours.

D2 - GERMINATION
After 48 hours, two seeds had very long taproots. The rest were cracked and the root was visible, so I decided to plant them in coconut substrate. I wonder if SM#1 and SM#5 with the largest taproots will have better vigor than the others.
For transplanting, I used 1-liter pots and sterilized coconut substrate. I soaked it with 1 ml of Clonex Pro Start with a pH of 5.8 and temperature 24°C. Finally, I sprinkled the coco with mycorrhiza from Grotek.

D5 - FIRST PLANT SEES THE LIGHT
After five days, the first Spanish moon is out! We'll see how it looks after the weekend, but for now, SM#1 sprouted and promoted to seedling, we're waiting for the others.

WSG2021 D1 - ALL SEEDS HAVE GERMINATED
It's been a week since germination began, and all seeds have successfully germinated. They look beautiful, except for SM#3, which has looked problematic from the start, but we'll give it some time to recover. However, it has an exclamation mark next to its name right from the start. For me, the best are SM#1 and SM#5, which sprouted the fastest and without any deformation.
I covered the seedlings with a dome, which I sprayed with water to maintain good humidity, as the room is designed for the vegetative growth of mothers, which have lower humidity.
Any case, 7 days from seed to seedling is the optimal time, and we're moving on because this is going to be a wild ride!
