I still have soooo many RQS seeds. Both autos and photos.. they're not getting any younger or better.
That's my train of thought this time😅
I don't know Purple Punch at all, I'm looking forward to that one :D
Pictures of the timer in the Tuya app are included @Kushycat ☺️

Both seeds have actually germinated. You can say and claim a lot about RQS, but the germination rate is always top-notch, even with older seeds.
The Horti One delivers 11% performance at a 30cm distance.
The soil was already well-moistened at the time of germination to get the nematodes and the florganics fertilizer working in advance. The soil is about 50/50 with Biobizz all mix & light mix. I also chose the oldest soil here to use everything sustainably.

Pictures are from yesterday. Diary update is a bit late, unfortunately wasn't home. However, since not much exciting happens or gets done at the beginning, that's acceptable for me.
Both are doing well and look healthy.
The spacing between the leaves is close enough.
So far, the start has been a success. Growth phase begins :)
The Horti One is now set to 35%.

Diary update a bit late again, pictures are also from yesterday.
My AK isn't doing so well. I don't really know why. The conditions are exactly the same as for the Purple Punch.
I don't see any water shortage, and not too much water either?
The Purple Punch is doing well.
Light is running at 50%

GermGrowFox The lamp has now been raised to 60%.
The Purple looks good, but the AK still worries me. There might be too much soil in the pot😅
I now water every other day and about 2-3 liters per pot.
I have now defoliated for the first time. Since I assume there is a lack of oxygen, I hope to see some improvement from this.

The pictures are from watering yesterday. The AK had another oxygen deficiency after watering. I also removed quite a few leaves and shoots. At first, I thought I was being too rough with everything and over-caring. This morning, she's looking great! No more signs of oxygen deficiency. She's never been this healthy since there's life in there 😂 so I'm really satisfied with the steps I've taken.
The Purple Punch has been doing an amazing job since day one. She looks fit and vibrant, like a little baby. She already smells pretty good for the little bit of flower pistils. I'm also very happy with her :)
For the next watering, I plan to sprinkle some florganics on top of the soil. Let's see what happens.

I could cry…. My Purple Punch has grown without any signs of stress. Now it has nanners in the flowering stage….
I checked both plants for male characteristics and didn’t find anything else, just the bananas on the flowers of the Purple Punch..
I’m a bit frustrated (am I to blame for overcaring, or is the internet really right that RQS often hermies?) and would love to know what’s going on.
I’m not quite sure if I should just let it go, remove the plant, and hope that the Ak does its thing well? Is something possibly already fertilized? I’d appreciate any advice…

I'm glad I kept going. The buds are developing beautifully, and the AK is gaining volume as well. However, she still seems to be constantly stressed.
The lamp has been running at full 100% since last week.
The nanners on the Purple Punch have been partially overtaken by new bud material.
Watering is now every two to three days with three liters per pot. Especially the AK drinks incredibly fast and a lot. I feel like I could say she can't decide what she wants to suffer from: lack of water or lack of oxygen. Both are tough. A dry pot punishes her with drooping leaves, but she does the same after every watering. One to two days after watering, she perks up again.

It smells really wild as soon as you open the tent :)
We're making progress. My AK is doing well again. I, the idiot, forgot to keep pushing one of the fans up since the seedling phase.
The lady just had heat up top x) I could have figured that out earlier myself 😅 but now it is what it is.
The Purple Punch looks stunning despite the nanners and is maturing incredibly well, I can't complain at all about having continued :)
Furthermore, I have a little upgrade planned:
I bought the S16 lights from Ac Infinity. I'm still waiting for the postman to deliver my additional parts for the tent, and then I can install it. I'm really curious to see if it makes a difference :D

The Purple Punch looks pretty much ready 😌
The new lights are in now. 2x vertical and 2x horizontal. I’ll probably align them all horizontally for the next run.
Not much else to report :)
Aside from the nanners, I haven't had any problems. The plant is beautiful :)

GermGrowFox An exciting run with a very beautiful plant as the end result. I am very satisfied with the outcome.
This time I learned not to immediately switch to panic mode when there are nanners. It still worked perfectly. :)
I harvested them too early because I didn't want to dry the Purple Punch in the same tent with light.
It definitely could have gone for another two weeks.
It's definitely a bit more sensitive.

GermGrowFox Ak is a very well-known genetic variety to me. I'm glad I grew it myself :) The plant was a bit more temperamental, but I could have taken better care of it x)
Did you create a plan and also have a schedule running? I understood it that you don't need both together, as the on and off times are managed through the plan.
@PhinolaGreen, die Untersetzer sind Fadenbewässerungen
Erspart einiges an Zeit beim Gießen.
I've been working with RQS for 11 years and have only had bananas 2 times 🤷🏻♂️ maybe you just had bad luck. I haven't tried Purple Punch Auto yet, but I would just let it run. Keep checking for nanners. You might end up with a few seeds in the weed, but it's not that bad. I once had something like that with a stressed Royal Gorilla that pollinated 9 plants. There weren't many seeds, but the strains that came from the seeds were great 😊
@GermGrowFox, the seeds did not develop any nanners. But it was also a photoperiodic. I had actually never had nanners with RQS Autos. It could be that the quality has declined, as Kushycat reported, but I haven't heard anything about it. Quite the opposite actually, I've been growing the Green Gelato Auto from RQS since 2021 and the genetics have become more stable. The Green Gelato Auto from 2021 can't even be compared to the one from 2025.
Just try a run with the seeds and if they really produce nanners, then you'll know for sure and won't need to use the seeds further. Because it must be a cool combo: Purple Punch Auto x Purple Punch Auto and Purple Punch Auto x Royal AK.
Sounds interesting from the combo. 😊
Maybe 50% is too much in this young phase. Do you really pour 1 liter on it every 24 hours? I find that a bit much too, but it's not your first grow with the setup and everything – so it's all just speculative. ^^
@Kushycat, I think I'm doing pretty well with the 50%. The PP is handling all the conditions super well. I'm currently playing around with the distance of the lamp to the plants and measuring how much gets down there.
Yes, I'm a bit generous with the water. However, I don't water every 24 hours but every 2-3 days and then just under 2 liters. I have living soil that I want to keep moist. The fabric pots + circulating air prevent oxygen deficiency (by the way, that was also the problem with the AK this week, since I have a fan very close to the pot, it has perked up)
I'm grateful for any ideas, so feel free to keep speculating if there are any more problems.
@GermGrowFox, Great to hear that it's doing well. Everything will be just fine now! 🙏🏽
Yeah, I'm always a bit unsure about the distance too. My Orion got some yellow tips and I thought it might be too much or the light was too close. But I think it was more about the pH level, which was way too high.
I'm always grateful for another perspective and all that. Take care until then :)
@RasendeRollo92, thank you so much :)
Ak is a top genetics! I'm a big fan :D
I have zero experience with PP. I only know that Mimosa has some PP genetics. And I thought Mimosa was amazing :D. Are you not a fan of PP because you don't like the effects? Or because the plant was a pain to grow?
@GermGrowFox, she's very easy to care for, but I had a PP from RoyalQueen and I just didn't like the effect... it's almost a pure Indica — not really my thing... but very easy to care for :)
when something like this happens, I always say 😀, just go for it and then extract to hash etc., if there are only a few seeds in it I also don't find it so bad to smoke 😉 keep your head up. just clean the tent then.
@Momentum, thanks for your quick response 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I found the bananas on 4 flowers. It would just be nice if the whole tent doesn't get pollinated. 😬 but in that case, I'll push through.
My condolences about the penises. Honestly, I can now confirm that this unfortunately happens more often with RQS. At first, I thought it might be me – too much stress for the plants or some mistakes in the grow.
But last year, I had at least one small pollen sack on almost every outdoor plant. And even if it's tiny, we know where that ultimately leads.
I haven't tried other genetics yet, and unfortunately, I still have some RQS seeds in the fridge. However, for the next grows, I will probably also check out other breeders.
@Kushycat, same theme for me. I definitely still have 40 Rqs seeds in the fridge. This is my third rqs run with hermaphrodite trouble. Although I was safely co-responsible in the previous ones.
But I mostly used RQS and only tried other breeders occasionally. Therefore, my judgment would be too strict. Well, I'm going to go through with it now and it will be what it will be :)
Thanks for the feedback 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@laxx, the bong stays there until I need it on my balcony 😅
I destroyed some bongs in the past on other places. But I know myself and I take care about all things in my tent. So the tent is also the safespace for my bong x)😅
