@wolfvb, so making the soil took years of practice and looking at soil.That's out there and nutrients. This soil is cocoa core, pearlight rice husk.Some biochar. I am a huge fan of humboldt secret garden nutrients.And I use about two milliliters of everything per gallon of soil.I make, and I see, it's got enough nutrients for about the first two weeks so whatever time release nutrients.I decide to put it has enough time to kick in and start. For soil, I use organic nutrients derived from blood, meal, bone, meal and feather meal. And I use liquid cal mag and iron, silica and a compost tea to complete it. I'm about to try a new brand of nutrients that should still use the same organic derivatives.But I think I found it at a significantly lower cost. To combat the soil from becoming hydrophobic, I have recently started using powdered aloe vera, and hopefully that would be enough for me to continuously reuse the soil. To complete it, I need to add vermiculate.The best ratio is one third one third one third. One third pearl light, one third vermiculite, one third cocoar.
