DapperDabber In the shot glass till I wake up. I'll be trying out some tall 2 gallon containers for a while until I transplant into the 5x5 tent. I prepared a mix of pro-mix, gaia green all purpose & gaia green bloom. As well I added bio-char, insect frass & granular humic acids. The pots are soaking right now, I'll drop the seeds in the soil come sunrise. I have the four A100 aerolights i can choose from to support them. I'll be happily surprised if all 5 germinate, I've prepared for it just in case.

DapperDabber Well I'm pleasantly surprised! At least 4 of the 5 have poked their heads up! I think it's worth mentioning after Sensi Seeds found out about my poor germination rate they reached out and offered to help. That's a big positive for Sensi in my book, as customer support is crucial in this market. I decided to fully remove the previous stumps, and I have GENEROUSLY top dressed with both Gaia Greens Grow and Bloom as well as some Bio-Char and a little extra gypsum. I hesitantly but ultimately tilled the first 2-3 inches to massage the top dress in. I was stoked to see so many worms! I'm sure I've hurt quite a few while tilling :( The good news is the whole top layer looked and felt like pure worm castings! That's why I decided I didn't need to top dress in worm castings (my plan from the beginning!) although I'm considering getting the wiggle worms bag that has worm eggs in it for the halfway-mark top dressing. To help replenish what I damaged during tilling. I germinated the seeds in these tall 2 gallon pots. My thought process was to allow the taproot to grow uninhibited even if I disturb it during transplant. The pots are nearly as tall as the 40 gallon pots. I do not plan to transplant at the full depth of the pots but instead I will transplant while the root mass is infantile and saturate the taproot root with rootwise microbe complete. I want to leave as much below the surface undisturbed as I can. I'm excited to absolutely fill out the 5x5 with huge nugs. It's been 3 harvests since I've run a photoperiod strain. I want to get a bunch of OG strains under my belt and they're all photos. The 5x5 can support absolute monsters. Thanks for tuning in! Take care my growmies!

DapperDabber Out of the 4 that cracked open, 2 of them will move forward which is all I need! Especially if they're as vigorous as the NL Auto from Sensi. I have the A100 Aerolights at %25 for a 20/4 light cycle really close to them. They're loving life in the new pots, while tilling is saw many worms and the topsoil was a lovely bunch of worm castings. The next move for the 5x5 is going to be either a buttload of small pots for a phenohunt or a massive pot to carry on my single tent single plant modus operandi. 14 days from dropping them into a shotglass of water. When I transplanted them I coated the taproot with rootwise mycrobe complete. Thanks for keeping up and take care fellow Growers!

DapperDabber My journal says this is 21 days from the day I had sown the seeds. It seems slow progressing but they look happy and healthy! Instead of letting the other two pots I planted go lifeless for the duration of the run, I will have some seedlings in there until I get some cover crop. I have a buttload of seeds from some pollen chucking I did a while ago on a keeper of Do-Si-Do(Archive Seed bank) i did just before documenting on this website. That's actually what my profile picture is, it was a run of Do-Si-Do(Archive) and Blue Blizzard (Meraki) and I made feminized seeds (I call it frosted cookies but that's meaningless obviously) just for the sake of having many seeds. I raised the temps, I got a infrared thermometer for my Bearded dragons basking spot and decided to check my real vpd and I adjusted my humidifer and exhaust fan to keep it at around 1.0 kPa I also raised the lung room temps to make the leaf surface temp around 80°f using a heater to make the lung room around 87-90°f to make this possible. Everybody in the garden is happy this week and that makes it easy, and me happy! Take care everybody, you should check out my absolute tree of a Northern Lights Auto from Sensi Seeds!

DapperDabber I saw some fungus gnats on the traps so I treated with WDG3000 and covered with rice hulls. I also added a controller for my lung room to control the temps better, they really love the heat. The ladies are starting to fill in and begin vigorous growth! The seedlings in the other two pots are sprouting, I'll be sad to kill them off. I hope to get a cover crop going soon for those pots. Seeing all the seedlings really has me interested in trying something out. I want to see what a sea of green in a 200 gallon grass roots pot in the 5x5 could do! I think I want to make an intentional cross for that though! Probably Skunk #1 and NL#5 from Todd McCormick at agseedco. That aside, the two Sweet Cherry Kush's will be slowly filling out the 5x5 until they fill the scrog net and then flipped to flower under the 2x Vivosun VSFD6500. Just like the 3x3 they will receive an automated watering setup when they prove to me that they've taken over the 40 gallon pots. Thanks for checking in! I'm thinking I'll start some more of the Gorilla cookies once some of the aerolights are freed up! Until next time, take care.

DapperDabber While the 3x3 left my heart broken this week, the 5x5 looks so lovely! I have to say I'm finding myself trying to justify a way to keep some of these seedlings I tossed into the two otherwise empty containers haha. I did thin out some of the smallest of them. The two sweet cherry kush babies are growing stout and branching out impressively! I used to be more strict about environment and then I slacked off. I feel like the lack of good environment control made the four Strawberry Gorillas in the 5x5 underperform. I made it easier this time around to control environment using outlet controllers. I had issues with the heater and the probe but that's been resolved. The damage done to the Northern Lights in the 3x3 however was irreparable :( I've stepped up the DLI to around 30 and I've moved the vpd range to 0.9-1.2 range for a bit more transpiration. The leaf surface temperature had a bit of a spike but is now stable around 78f They both had a surprising amount of growth this week, I think she's really stretching her roots! I'm loving the shape and fat leaves! I trimmed some of the lowest smallest growth of the smaller plant. Both of them had some of the biggest leaves tucked under. I've still been exclusively watering by flooding the bottom of the tent for 24 hours and vacuuming it up afterwards. This does indeed have algea growth but I don't feel too concerned. The fungus gnats are definitely trying to come back, I'll probably smother the last two pots with more rice hulls as the covering of the top of the soil has been the most successful in dealing with them. Thanks for reading! I expect things are about to get faster soon! I'll probably use two Aerolight A100 per plant soon as soon as they get too wide for one. I plan to fill a scrog net with the two sweet cherry kush's and then flip to flower under the two VSFD6500's My guesstimate is about 3 more weeks of Veg. I don't mind a long veg period because I want to get a decent yield considering I don't have anymore of these seeds left. Take care fellow growers and stay alert!

DapperDabber They have begun the rapid vegetative state! The larger of the two already have roots poking out the base of the pot:) I've been doing some experimenting with different ways of controlling the environment. What I have going on right now is as follows: I have a portable ac unit, I have the exhaust setup directly into the 5x5 tent and have the cold side covered with a blanket. I also have both humidifiers working on the 5x5. I have the Probe of the H19 humidifier in the canopy of #1 (Top left) and the E42A Probe in the canopy of #2 (Bottom right) I also have the probe for the H09 humidifier towards the front of the tent and the probe for the Vivosun Aerolab controller towards the back. Using all the probes reading in conjunction with each other, I adjusted the fans to mitigate stale air spots and micro-climates. The four fans are setup to create what is essentially a vortex. The exhaust fan is setup only to turn on when temps reach above 87 or the VPD drops below 0.9 The heater is setup to bring temps up to 77f from 12am-2am and 84f from 2am-4pm and back to 77f from 4pm-6pm and completely off from 6pm to 12am which drops down to 60f at the lowest point. I swapped the Aerolight A100 out for the VS4000 for #1 and doubled up the A100 for #2 I set the light height to average 35 DLI over 18 hours. I also dropped the lighting hours from 19 to 18. The leaf surface temps average around 80f and the VPD was targeted 1.3 kPa but I was recently convinced that a 1.1 kPa VPD provides the most robust growth as a result of stomata opening. Target VPD will likely stay 1.1 kPa until flowering stretch finishes. Right after their photoshoot, I gave them a foliar feeding of Buildasoil's Big 6 Micros and using Mono-ammonium phosphate(MAP) as pH control (as well as available Nitrogen and Phosphorus which I will plan to do weekly until the end of flowering stretch as I will not be top-dressing with Gaia Grow, only Gaia Bloom moving forward) Recently I've been interested in the use of supplemental 730nm lighting. My understanding is that 730nm wavelength light converts Pfr to Pr rapidly and can speed up the plants transition to sleep. I would love to try flowering under 14 hours of light. The only available lights on the market however are inefficient, insufficient and made by companies seeking to capitalize on a new study they aren't privy to themselves. After observing the data, I'm not convinced of UV's usefulness but the only lights for 730nm I found are from spider farmer and force you to buy both. Thanks for reading and take care! lets see how fast she goes from here on out!

DapperDabber Growing fast! They're on the move and ready to grow! The environment has been stable, the DLI is up to 40 and the vpd maintaining 1.1, day and night. Leaf surface temps average 82f They received a top dress with Gaia's Bloom, Bio-char, insect frass and oyster shell flour. That top dress was watered in with 2 gallons of BAS' Big 6 Micros and roots organic elemental calcium (Gypsum, Lime & fish protein hydrolsate, water soluble) and 2 gallons of Root-wise's mycrobe complete and Bio-catalyst followed a bit after. I did a brutal topping of all those filler plants, I can't believe how fat those stems grew with indirect light. Actually they were vigorous overall considering their indirect lighting. The scrog net will be deployed soon! And once I can weave them through I'll do a thorough lollipop before the flip to 12/12 ,a final fat-ole top dressing and setup the 2x VSFD6500 lights. Thanks for reading and take care of yourself as well as you take of your plants fellow Growers!

DapperDabber Hey fellow Growers! They were down to 15 hours by the end of the week and I'll probably cut it down to 12 next Thursday and start flowering! I've setup the trellis and pruned the filler crops again. Now that I'm thinking about it, I didn't measure my DLI so I'll do that since I've decreased the photoperiod. I'll shoot for 45-50 DLI. I'll also keep tucking the leaves to cover the full net, I imagine the two ladies will end up mostly rectangular overall. I'll heavily prune the growth that's too clustered and lollipop up until last few nodes. I'm not interested in quantity, honestly I'm most focused on minimal effort. Speaking of minimal effort I ordered some geotextile fabric. I would love to replace the rice hulls with a cover much like earth box offers. I'll cut two halves which I can flap open from the center to do top dressings instead of scooping out the rice hulls by hand into a fabric pot and pouring them back in when it's all said and done. They are drinking all of the water when I flood the tray daily. I don't measure how much I flood with, I mostly use as much water until I've reached the maximum height my tent liner allows. However I do plan to switch over to an automated drip emitter setup. I'll use a 1/2 poly tube and wind an archimedean-like spiral around the plant. Using 40-60 drip emitters at a 0.5GPH flow rate on a small vivosun water pump between the two plants. I'll do some hands on testing to get the timing right but I plan to do a daily watering that brings the soil to field capacity without runoff. After a few weeks oftucking and a final top dressing I hope she'll just cruise on autopilot just as they are now. Thanks for checking in, take care fellow growers!

DapperDabber 46 days in and I'm ready to flip! This was her last week of having over 12 hours. Starting today, it's 12/12 I've been decreasing the photoperiod and matching DLI accordingly. I've also switched over to the 2x VSFD6500 today. That sucker puts heat down! I turned off the heater and I'll see if it's necessary. We're at about 45 DLI in the center and 35 DLI on the edges, might be a bit better with the doors closed. They've been drinking pretty crazily. I'm consistently refilling the 55gallon reservoir on a weekly basis. They are exploding! Throughout the week my plan is; Keep tucking under the net until the 2 cherry kush's take over the full 5x5. Lollipop everything under the net. Move the net up and inch or two by the end of the week. I'll probably do a final top dressing after the stretch stops, and setup the drip rings at that point. I'm still exclusively sub irrigating by flooding the tent, except the day I top dress. Which I haven't this week, or will for a few likely. Maybe I can get away with ditching the drippers and just flood the tent with a timer and adjust accordingly. Thanks for reading! Stick around for some fat colas! (we hope) and take care 🙂

DapperDabber Flowering is finally here! The ladies have filled the net mostly and the flowering sites have begun to develop 😀 I've tried to keep the canopy even. A few days ago I decided to lollipop them aggressively, from what I'm seeing it may not need to do any more unless they stretch too much more haha I haven't setup the automated watering or the geotextile fabric. If I decide to do another top dress i will, but I'm okay with waiting to feed the soil until after I harvest too. I think there's more likely an excess of food than a famine. I also provide roughly 12ppm of phosphorus and 2ppm of nitrogen but I would like to change that up in the future. Naturally, rain most commonly provides more sulfur and potassium and nitrogen in a nitric form. I have been using exclusively ammonium nitrogen but I want to have a low strength rain water replica. I think In the no till garden style, using additives in the water is considered "too hydro" but my belief is that the rain is being forgotten. It provides many high value nutrients in water soluble form at very low concentrations. Nature is feeding her garden too. The two other pots have survived even through the neglect such as leaning on them, no direct lighting and no food for a while. They look gorgeous actually. Hopefully it stays on autopilot from here on out! I haven't been closing the tent doors, I'm not as concerned about light leaks as I used to be. The moon if often bright where I live anyhow. Thanks for checking in and take care!

DapperDabber The second week of flowering and they're absolutely still stretching, hopefully it comes to a stop before the tops reach a 55 DLI level - height 😅 They've been so thirsty and blooming wonderfully! Even the two pots with my pollen chucking Do-Si-Do/Blue Blizzard cross have been doing well 😎 Even though they haven't been top dressed or had direct light in a month! It's almost as if they grow like weeds 😆 It's been a pretty easy time so far, I think I might even be done tucking branches as I've got a canopy that's even enough for me. Thanks for the read and take care!

DapperDabber I wish I had more to say but these ladies are just happily chugging along! My humidity is either spiking or that probe is having... ? complications. I'll open up the windows to dry it out down there, it's not crazy to think the sub-irrigation and high transpiration of flowering is dumping water into their lung room. 🤔🤔 Also it was raining and snowing the last two days, so maybe a de-humidifier will have to get budgeted 🤓 I've never had mold issues and I don't want i start! Again, they're coming along effortlessly! Coming soon I'll probably top dress and get rid of the rice hulls, as well setup the automated watering because they're drinking so dang much! Thanks for reading and take care!

DapperDabber We're at 29 days in flower from the flip. The two Sweet Cherry Kush plants are packing on weight, at a very promising rate! Around 4-5 weeks anticipated to remain. Nothing much to say, just happy ladies! They get watered every other day with 72 hours being the longest stretch in-between. The temperaturs are pretty consistent, The VPD has still been fighting me, I'll probably end up with a dehumidifier for the summer month. The DLI has been very consistent as it appears we have ceased stretching. Thanks for reading! Take care!

DapperDabber The buds are fattening up and I've decided to go without top-dressing. I received a suggestion regarding phosphorus buildup so I'm gonna ride the rest of cycle out and I think I'll do a soil analysis with Logan Labs. This is the 40Gallons 4th cycle so I'm sure it's time for some testing. I haven't had any issues, but after measuring how much I've been top dressing it's something like 8x the recommended amount. When discussing this phosphorus became an important topic.

DapperDabber Another week in the books! The plan is: starting a dry-back on the 4th of next month and chopping the following week. I haven't top dressed since flower but they don't seem to mind. I'm not seeing any senescence so far or hunger, just chugging along happily! They've been in the colder temps as I've closed off the heater vents for the basement. With a high of 74 and a low of 60 they're getting a gentle simulated, winter-temperature swing. I've been stretching the time between waterings to get some extra frost but I hope the intentional dry-back does what it did for my accidental dry-backs haha Thanks for reading and I wish bountiful harvests for all :)
