Starting this a bit late but had some issues with my coco medium when the girls were still seedlings. Fast forward a couple months the girls have both recovered and are producing some vigorous growth under the LEDs after being topped to have 16 main colas each from originally being topped at the 5th node and the bottom 3 nodes removed. I have also started training them outwarfs with low stress training methods, simply tying down top branches and minor bending to allow the growth along the now 12 main colas. Everything is currently in cruise control with continued training and future defoliations which I'm sure I'll update with next week. ✌️

Well it's been an eventful week with highs and lows. Everything is been going steadily well and I have just continues the training with both phenos with simple LST by tying the highest tops to the sides of the pots. Now I made a rookie mistake and after I had made it I had a flashback of doing the same thing years before all because I wasn't thinking! So basically when tying the tops down I ended up snapping one of the 2 top colas of Pheno 2 where it was beyond saving. This all happened because I didn't follow my usual technique of training after a feed. I do this because I found the plant becomes more rigid after a feed as it takes up the water to the stems, leaves and growth sites. Doh! It's not the end of the world as I planned on taking cuttings of both Phenos anyway so i snipped the end, scraped some of the top layer of the stalk for rooting, snipped the end off some of the leaves and popped her in a glass of water. In the mean time I trained Pheno number 2 over and let her go crazy with growth. As of today both are doing well although the dark green leaves on Pheno 1 means she probably has a phosphorous excess so I'll water her with just normal water until the darkness starts to fade. Other than that Pheno 1 is drinking a lot. She's now down to 24 hour feeds which means her roots have probably filled out the pot and wants a bigger one so I'll be repotting her in a few days into her final fabric pot. Until next week! ✌️

All is going well this week with the slow girl gaining a healthier green shade from the light green it was before. I just have to keep on top of the top ammendment nutrients so she doesn't get too much phosphorous like the other girl. I've just been gradually training both girls branches to the sides ready for when they go into their last 4 gallon/19 litre fabric pots as well as, what I would call, light defoliations to allow more light to the inner most tops. Once they are in their new pots and I'm satisfied with how far out the branches have been trained I will just let them grow upwards before switching to flower. I expect this may still be about 4 weeks away as I also want to take some cuttings. That's all for this week! ✌️

Things have been going well as I continued to train the stretching girls to the side of the pots, bending and adding ties where needed. Pheno 1 started showing signs of over watering showing droopy leaves as well as what I think is either nitrogen, magnesium or iron deficiency. I'm leaning towards a iron deficiency since the yellowing is on the newest growth at the top. I think this was caused from giving her too much top amendments in her last feed causing a pH imbalance. What I would usually do is just give her a little flush if this is the case but instead I decided to repot her and the other Pheno into their last 19 litre/4 gallong pots as both were drinking pretty quick and I wanted to avoid over watering again. The rootballs looked beautiful when I transplanted them so I was pretty happy with their progress! This round I've ditched the coco as I had way too many issues with it in the past, including knats and PH issues. In this round I've gone with Biobizz light soil which I added some fish blood and bone, earthworm castings, bat guano and then watered with water and liquid seaweed. I love organic growing :). I do intend on using Coco again but I'll need to do some research on some trusted brands. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know! Pheno 2 is showing signs of recovery but I'd love the input from others about what the deficiency could be? I got my new bubblebags today which is making me want to flip to flower so I can get to harvesting and making some bubble but I'm going to be super patient this round. I want these girls to fill up as much of my 4 x4 tent space as possible. Until next week! ✌️

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing the yellowing in the leaves of my Pheno 1? I think iron def - its the top new growth & is working from the inside of the leaves towards tips. Tested feedings of liquid seaweed & water to pH 6.2 but not run off. May be dry am. nute

It's been a good week! Pheno 1 recovered from her yellowing thanks to potting up to her final pot. Both girls are now in their 19litre/4gallon favric pots which I used bio bizz light soil with my own additional nutrient amendments using fish blood and bone, earthworm castings, bat guano and then watered with liquid seaweed. So at the beginning of the week I did a heavy defoliation on both girls which I usually do twice before flower so both girls will get one more heavy defoliation and lollipopping just before I switch them to flower. I've just left the girls to do their thing but on Saturday I decided to put up the scrog net, only to realise I picked up the wrong one! I've made do for now as it still keeps the top heads down so the others have some time to catch up. In the mean time, I'll be grabbing the right scrog net this week. I couldn't get the best side on shots today so I'll include some better shots in next week's entry to show how rapid the growth is after a heavy defol. Ive included a couple edited pics for anyone interested :). Until next week! ✌️

It's been a good week 😁 I'm feeling quite content that I've got the tent dialed in, even without all the instruments I really want. Although, all I'm really missing is a ppm meter, C02 meter and an automatic control for the grow tent itself to utilise the dehumidifier, outtake fan, intake fan and maybe a light controller for dimming but I do plan to get those as well as a few more upgrades for the tent in future. The plants have been looking FANTASTIC! 👌The leaves are beautifully green and the growth has been so vigorous this week that I decided on another heavy defoliation. I usually defoliate heavily twice before switching to flower but these new lights are so amazing at stacking on the growth that Ill be doing 3 possibly 4 this time! I knew the moment I laid eyes on these qbs with Samsung 301b diodes, that I would not be disappointed! Anyway, I expect the growth will expode again this week which will be great as I plan on taking some cuttings next week 😊. Until next week! ✌️

This week has been fun! I finally gave the girls their needed lollipop and last defoliations, as well as taking some cuttings along the way. I've been pretty slack with getting equipment so I ended up clipping the leaves, dipping the stems in clonex after stripping the bottom of the stem down a bit with a razor blade to increase the surface area for rooting and planted them in some soil. I would usually use root riot or rock wool cubes but I didn't have any. The cuttings have been sat in their pots of soil with plastic bags used for propagation temporarily as I'm getting my propagators today. I've been misting them twice a day at the moment but that's due to the high temps this last week. I've also been giving the girls a good foliar spray every evening before lights out to give them a little boost before I switch them into flower next week! The foliar spray I've been using is just normal water mixed with liquid seaweed (I had made up a mix of 40 ml of liquid seaweed to 10L of water). Anyway that's it for this weeks update and I'll catch you all next week when I'll be top amending my soil ready for the first stages of flower and maybe an update on the cuttings! ✌️

Well we are finally into the flower stage of the grow. One of my favourite times! Nows the time to take a break with the rigorous topping, training and (what felt like a weekly) heavy defoliations. Now all that is left to do is some minor tying down as the girls start their stretch and keep on top of the feedings. The plants will start to want more phosphorous now as opposed to large amounts of nitrogen as it was when in veg but I won't need to change much except top amend my soil a couple times with the same fish blood and bone and bat guano as the fish blood and bone is high is phosphorous. I did want to attempt a little experiment and put the ladies in darkness for 2 days as I have read that this can kick-start the flower process when put into a 12 12 light cycle. I took the opportunity to give the tent and equipment a good clean to ensure the flower process goes as smooth as possible. OK last thing! I did also give the girls a light defoliations on the top leaves to allow light through the canpoy because I know how this strain blows up and stretch! No sign of pistils yet but check out next week's post for some pistil porn. I've noticed I've had about 60 views on this diary but not very many likes :(. If you like what you've seen please drop me a like or comment and if you haven't liked what you've seen drop me a comment and let me know why! I'd like to make content people will enjoy 👍😜. Week 2 of flower and no problems in the garden 😁. Sorry about the late update but I've got some beauties to show you guys. I've never actually grown the Sour Diesel from Reserva Privada with such little issues. I'm convinced I've got this strain dialed in perfectly with the bio bizz light soil with my mix of organic nutrients and liquid seaweed feeds... and of course the good clean tent environment with plenty of C02, fresh oxygen, good air circulation and plenty of light👍 The girls are definitely stretching and bushing out. I've done very little except added and mixed in another layer of top dressing ammendments just because one of the girls started showing a little nitrogen deficiency and fed with water and liquid seaweed. They've responded very well with vigorous growth and healthy green leaves. I can be a bit harsh with my feedings. I usually wait till the soil is really dry before a feed. I'm going to go a little easy on their next feed as I want to nutrients to do their thing in the soil so I plan on giving a normal water feeding but I'll keep the top soil a little moist to give the nutrients and soil the environment it needs to thrive. Well that's it for this week! Enjoy some pistil porn on me. No charge 😉 Until next week ✌️

A new week with new developments :). Not much to report but the girls are doing really well. Pistils are popping up left right and centre. The stretch on both plants has actually been less leggy than I'm used to from this strain. Ive just been doing straight water feeds with no added liquid seaweed and no top amendments to the soil this week. As you can see the girls really aren't in need of any more nutrients at this time but next week I'll be feeding with liquid seaweed again and the next top amendment dressing isn't due for another three weeks along with another defoliation to allow light to those lower bud sites. I have done some tying down just to ensure a more even canopy for better light penetration to the lower growth. Since I haven't got a lot to report I took a couple of videos and some photos for you all to enjoy. If you guys like the content of this diary please drop me a like or drop a comment on what you think I could do better or include in future posts? Until next week! ✌️

I love these last stages! The girls are still stretching but I decided to give them a defoliation a week early. If you look back on last week you can see how bushy they have gotten so there was a definite need to get some light to the lower bud sites. I can definitely start to smell the familiar gassy aroma coming through now so may be time to get the fan and carbon filter cranked up. I will be top amending the soil again at some point this coming week but as for now I have just been feeding with water and liquid seaweed. I've had a few compliments from friends on the good health of the plants this time round compared to previous grows when the Sour Diesels had nutrient issues, not helped by the Coco medium I was using. I'll be sticking to this choice of soil and organic nutrients with the results I'm getting so far! I mean, look at those pistils!! 😁 I love that I've had 93 views on this diary so far! Thanks to everyone that's checked it out but I'd love some feedback? If you like what you see please drop me a like and if not, let me know what I can improve or do differently? Hi all! Not all that much to report. Flowering in going well with the girls producing more and more crystal looking trichomes and steady bud growth. There is definitely a noticably more pungeant smell every day and I get lovely wafts of gas in the mid afternoon air after the tent lights turn on. I have just been continuing the feeds of water and liquid seaweed. The girls are drinking more often (now about 5 litres each every couple of days) but it may also be due to the hot weather lately. I did amend my topsoil again with my nutrient amendment mix as I had noticed Pheno 1 was looking a little light in her usual strong dark green. As you can see she has responded well and has some more colour in those cheeks. Ive made another video for you all to enjoy (at least i think so!) and included a pic of my feeding/potting station. Its an old Tea Trolley made by either my great grand father or great great grandfather. I love this trolley and its had a lot of use but I cant say its ever been used for its intended purpose! 😂 Feel free to drop me any questions or a like on the diary if the mood grabs you 😏. Anyway, until next week ladies and gents! ✌️

Thats week 6 of flower in the bag. 3 (maybe 4) go! I wont lie I have been visiting the tent more often these days thanks to the beautiful aroma tempting me to have a look at their progress. The last 24 hours has been quite satisfying for me because the bud growth is now steaming ahead. I wish I had taken photos last night but I showed the girls to a friend yesterday and we could see all the bud sites peeking through but when I checked on them this afternoon the buds are exploding through with vigor! Ive taken another video and a fair few bud shots but next week I will be taking more photos to show you more than just top bud growth as these girls are stacking up! Ive always been really envious of other growers who top their plants multiple times and take the time to ensure the canopy is as level as possible but Im quite proud of my girls canopy and multiple top colas! Anyway, so all I have been doing is continuing with a water and seaweed extract feed, still about 5litres each and they had their last top amendment feed last weed which will last them to the end now and I want them to use up as much of the nutrients available in the soil before I start flushing in the next couple of weeks. For anyone reading who doesnt know about flushing, Ill explain. Flushing is a technique used by growers to get rid of as much of the added nutrients in the medium by 'flushing' around 3 times the volume of the pot the plant is growing in with normal tap water (ensuring the water is at the right PH). Essentially you want to flush the plant in 3 batches so that the medium has time to settle between each flush ensuring you get all the nutrients and minerals out of the medium. You will notice that the run off will get lighter and lighter with each batch of flushing which is the nutrients being flushed out. We do this so that the plant is forced to use its own nutrients which in turn I have found also fattens up the buds. This is the time when you start to notice a change of colour in your plants as they start to use up the nutrients stored in the leaves. Dont panic as these deficiencies are just a sign that the nutrients are being used up and you will end up with bud that will dry better and be less prone to mold issues as well as a smoother smoke and better terpene profiles. Just look at that frost... Thats it for this week! ✌️

Week 7 is over and the buds beautifully sticky and frosty and the aroma has really come through with a pungeant scent of something sweet but also gassy. I got a few photos to show the amount of trichome heads they have and they are completely covered in them. You really start to notice subtle differences amongst phenotypes when the buds come through. I could tell from early veg stage that these had different dominant genes. To give you a bit of backgroun this strain of Sour Diesel from Reserva Privada is a cross between ’91 Chemdawg x Mass Super Skunk/NL x DNL. Its a cross between some old school gentetics which you may struggle to find seeds of these days. But to break it down its a Chemdog crossed with a certain super skunk strain of which that hybrid was crossed with a particular Northern Lights hybrid. 3 of my favourite strains all rolled into one. Pheno 1 is definitely showing more of the northern lights influence with the top sugar leaves turning a light green and the sweet frutier aroma is more prominent over the gassy and lemon smell you get from the chemdog side. Pheno 2 - the Slow Girl - shows more what I say is 'Sour Diesel' traits with an even distribution of all 3 genetics in the way it its aroma comes across with a more prominant gassy smell at first with a good tinge of the sweeter smell but both Phenos growing bulbous golf ball shaped buds even with the lower buds forming nice round buds. I havent had a chance to get the jewelers loop out yet to have a look at them but you can kind of see from the pictures that most are clear but also a few milky looking trichomes dotted around but chances are I will see a lot more under the loop. The girls got their first flush after a good period as I wanted to make sure the soil was nice and dry. They got around 40 litres of water flushed through each of them and can already see Pheno 2 'the Slow Girl' starting her fade in a few of the leaves. Im looking forward to seeing the signature yellow Fall colours come through and will be taking plenty of pictures in the last few weeks. Next round I will be doing a week by week time lapse video and have a final video with all combined. For now I will just be water feeding thise week when dry (I let my girls get a bit wilted before a feed) to ensure the plants use up all remaining nutrients in the soil and themselves. I will also be be defoliating a couple times a week as the leaves start to turn yellow and die off but will document it as I go along to capture the lush colours that come through. Thats it for this week! ✌️

Week 8 is over and its starting to look like fall in the tent. Yellowing leaves galore on Pheno 2 and a god fade started on Pheno 1. I have just been feeding with water when dry and keeping vigile of leaves that should come off. Its important to stay aware of the yellowing leaves as they can cause mold issues when they decompose on the plant which in turn also raises humidity and can cause bud rot. Ive had this issue once before when it was particularly humid but I learned to pluck the dead leaves as they are no more use to the plant anyway and also incorporated a de-humidifier. I would say its a must as far as equipment for grows go as you never know when you may need it particularly in humid areas such as where I live and depending on the type of plant, vigorous growth tends to cause more humidity. A flan is also important as it moves the air around the tent and eventually out through the ventilation. Apart from leaf picking, I have just been admiring the tent and watching buds that may look like they will swell up to the point where the stalks cant hold the weight. Its inevitable and I will just tie them up as they start to fall. Anyway only 2 more weeks to go (maybe 1 and a half epending on the last swell and trichome head colour). Until next week ✌️

End of Week 9 of Flower. I can just taste those buds now! The smell is intoxicating and the view is picturesque. There is definitely a noticeable difference between the two pheno's but I suspect both will pack a good punch. There has been some purpling in some of the top leaves which I expect will increase with the drop in temperature the last week or so. I cant wait to get some good pictures at the end of the week as Ive decided the chop day will be this coming Sunday. The clash of yellow, purple and green is always my favourite so I plan to capture as much as possible since the next update will be jam packed with pictures of the girls just before their chop and after 48 hours of darkness to get the last of that resin production from the plant. I will also take some pics of the hanging plants in the drying cupboard. The reason I am leaving my plants in darkness for 48 hours before they get chopped, is that it has been long belived that this practice will increase the last of the thrichome production and some say increases potency. There has been a recent study in the Netherlands which does confirm increased resin production for plants left in 48 hours of darkness (they also tested 24 hours darkness but found 48 was better) at the end of their flower cycle. The chop has been planned to be pretty straight forward where I will just be taking off the main fan leaves and leaves with no thrichomes as well as chopping off the larfy/popcorn buds which will go straight in the freezer for a fresh frozen bubble hash run. I dont bud wash my flower as my tent gets a regular clean each week and always gets a full deep clean when every harvest is over and besides, its only me and my friends that smoke it! The drying cupboard I use for drying is a small cupboard designed for storing and drying clothes which I have put a carbon filter and fan as well as a small desk fan to circulate the air as well as a small dehumidifier just incase there is an increase in humidity. So the basics of drying is that you want the area where you are drying to be dark and fairly cool (its recommended to be between 15 and 22 degrees C), have a humidity level between 45% and 55%. I aim for around 21 degrees C temperature and 50% humidity. The drying time can vary depending on strain but its recommended to dry the buds for 7 - 10 days and I will explain further about how to tell if your bud is done drying and is ready to be cured on the next post. Drying is very important as you can affect all your hard work if the conditions arent right and the bud ends up too dry (luckily these days there are ways to fix bud thats too dry) or you end up with mouldy ganja which isnt save to smoke. Its also believed that a good long dry in good conditions helps increase potency and also has been shown to reduce anxiety. Anyway thats it for this week and I hope to see you all on the final post for the end of Week 10 of flower and the harvest! Until next week. ✌️

Happy Harvest Day!

Amazing and easy to grow provided you stay on top of the the nitrogen in veg and phosphorous in flower. I used organic nutrients which can be mixed in, top amended as well as compost tea brew. Beautiful colours! Described as having a pinkish colour at the end of harvest however I would descrive it closer to a purple on the top most sites fading down to oranges, yellows and greens. Ive smoked this strain before and it is my utmost favourite strain. I would say its around a 80/20 Indica/Sativa split. Definitely a night time smoke with great hash potential. Will update with smoke report when dry is done!

UPDATE: New dry bud jarred up and bud shot pictures as well as ice bubble hash run pictures. Harvest day! Oh how amazing it has been. After 48 hours of darkness with just the dehumidifier and fan going, the smell of sweetness and gas filled our nostrils when the tent was opened to get the girls out. Unfortunately I couldnt get very good pictures with the lighting against the tent but got some decent results where I could use natural lighting. Ive got some more pictures on the way so check back for some dry bud shots as well as some macro shots of the trichomes. With the help of a couple good friends, we got the gloves and trimming scissors out and trimmed the girls down in about 2 - 3 hours while listening to music and smoking some joints (wth some added scissor hash between trims 😜). We only did a basic trim (taking off the fan leaves as well as the larfy/popcorn buds which then went into the freezer which will be used as a fresh frozen ice bubble hash run) as I like to leave a good amount of the leaves on during the drying process but not too much as the humidity is quite high at the moment anyway so I dont have to worry about overdrying. Overall this strain was super easy to grow but I can chalk that up to the environment and nurtients being on point as well as the light upgrade which has made a massive difference. They didnt stretch as much as they would do under a MH or HPS bulb but I was happy with their size but may look at going bigger in the next round (the diary for the next round is currently up so check the progress of what I hope will be monsters as I will be adding more light to the flower stage!) Once the girls have spent 7 - 10 days drying, I will be popping them in their jars and doing a smoke report with some pictures of the finished buds and some trichome macro shots. Thank you to everyone whos followed this diary and I hope you enjoyed my content and dont forget to check back in about a week for those macro shots for a closer look at the trichomes from the buds as well as getting up close and personal with some bubble hash. Next up will be making some edible gummies and this run will be complete with flower, hash and edibles. Pros about this strain. It's great for anxiety. A little goes a long way as it packs a punch, filling your mouth, nostrils, air passages, lungs abs ✌️
