Growth after 1 week for Purple Kush autoflower by SUPER autoflowers (a Montreal based autoflower breeder). Grow medium is an organic supersoil (light sphagnum moss and perlite blend with beneficial bacteria and fungus, mixed with earthworm castings, compost, glacial rock dust, blood meal, and a little elemental sulphur). Seedling had minor damage due to not fully detaching seed casings on one side, but growing well by end of week one.

LST going quite well, starting to top feed earthworm castings as needed. The light is an HLG 100 watt which is amazingly effecient and has allowed for a very simple low tech setup.

LST is really allowing a nice canopy to form. This is my first grow using any training method, and only my second grow overall, but so far I am pleased with the results.

Plant clearly transitioning from veg to early flowering. Top dressing continued, with earthworm castings, home made compost, and a final shot of blood meal. The LST has involved bending out and in a spiral to get a somewhat even canopy. This allows me to keep the grow very low with plenty of headroom in my little 4 foot tall tent.

With flowering starting I have transitioned to using Biothrive bloom along with continued top dressing of earthworm castings. I have stopped any use of blood meal or home compost to keep nitrogen levels where they should be. LST has continued to keep the plant very short and wide.

Did what I hope is my final LST, buds coming in quite well. Very happy with the Purple Kush strain from SUPER AUTOFLOWERS, as it has been branchy and really taken to the training. There continues to be a little stretching up, but veg growth is slowing and my focus is going to be on supporting the buds thickening up. I continue to lightly feed my blooming nutrients while top dressing earthworm castings every watering. I also did a final top dress of glacial rock dust.

Grow Questions

Flowering seems to be going well, but there has been some minor yellowing and browning of the leaf tips. Leaves otherwise seem healthy. Any ideas if this is a water issue, nutrient issue, or just a normal part of the plant's stage?

Hey! Great grow so far! I'm not a pro by no means but from what I;ve seen it seems to be either lacking cal-mag or the ph is off. But I think it just needs some more cal-mag. Hope this helps!

The Purple Kush autoflower continues to fatten up its buds. There has been a little bit of yellowing of some lower leaves, but nothing out of the ordinary for this stage. There is some frosting of the sugar leaves, and a few of the pistils are just starting to turn orange. I reduced the liquid fertilizer as I think a slight overdose may have contributes to the crispy leaf tips, but continued a top dress of earthworm castings and more glacial rock dust for cal-mag. I added some photos of the plant's branching due to LST, and of the bud development as well. Updated with runoff PH and additional nutrients.

As the grow approaches the two month mark, things seem to be going well and my focus has been letting the buds fatten up without overdoing any nutrients or throwing the plant/soil out of balance. No further LST needed as growth has pretty much stopped, and branches are sticking in their place regardless of plant ties. I am no longer top dressing earthworm castings or compost. Instead I am continuing with GO biothrive bloom as a organic liquid nutrient for flowering, and Megacrop which has a very broad and complete profile nutrients. Megacrop uses organic chelates for the microelements/metals as well, which are supposedly very easy for the plant to break down. My logic in this is that healthy root formation is really great with castings, compost, etc., but at this point the plant has very well developed roots breaking down the natural soil additives and instead needs just a little extra nutrients to make it all the way through it's dense root ball. I am keeping a close eye on the buds as I will flush the soil 1-2 weeks before harvest. I want a balanced harvest, so I am keeping a close eye on the trichomes and will likely flush when around 70-80 percent are cloudy. It looks like it's almost there!

Week 10. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

I have never grown this Purple Kush from QCS (Quebec Cannabis Seeds) before, or seen the results from anyone else using this particular breeder, so its outcome was always going to be a bit of a mystery! It makes it difficult to seperate what resulted from genetics, and what resulted from my actual growing setup. I harvested on day 65 after around 10 percent of trichomes had turned amber and most were cloudy. The buds lost a lot of mass during drying and became somewhat airy. Post-dry, the appearance of the buds became very orange (from the pistils) and a bit frosty green, but definitely did not take on any purple hues. The potency of the buds definitely developed well despite the lack of density. No complaints at all after an initial vape, I would grow this strain again based on the potency alone. The effects are pretty balanced, leaning a little towards sedating. I would place it as an evening strain more than a daytime strain, but it really could be used any time. The buds after a week of curing taste spicy, earthy, with a bit of pine. After another few weeks in the jar, they have maintained the same notes of spice and pine, but have definitely mellowed into a gentle smoke.

I am very happy with the grow, even if the buds got a little bit fluffy and airy after drying. I had no experience growing this strain, and the genetics from the lesser know breeder was a bit of a mystery as well, but the harvest size and potency will make me take another stab at it with larger lights and a 5 gallon pot to see if I can maximize the plant's potential. Thank you for reading! My next grow is going to be a Black Cream auto from Sweet Seeds, so hopefully that will be up and running soon!

I just started the same genetics from QCS (Quebec Cannabis Seeds)! I hope I will get the same results!

@Jazin, thanks! I am growing their NYC Diesel Auto right now, and I find that in both cases the plants are genetically healthy, easy to grow, and decent yielders 🌲

Hey mate !!! Beautiful structure you had before flowering !!! Im sure a higher PK + carbohydrates should help the plant, filling more that see of buds ;) Good vibezzzzz

@Ageddd, I agree! It was my second grow and I was still figuring out the nutrients. I think I overcorrected from some nutrient burn and underfed during flower. I appreciate the advice and will be revisiting the strain in the future!

Really good work on the LST here! You’ll get a lovely harvest out of this, keep it up 🌱

Looking good ... Just got done harvesting a AK-49 Auto and a Northern Lights Auto myself, check it out if you can ! I wish you the same success. Good luck with the rest of your grow.

@Mr_Weeds_Autos, thanks, your Northern Lights looked like a pretty dank harvest and you have some nice autos coming along!
