Borberad 🍒🍒 Week 1: Kiss of the Cherry – The Starting Shot in the Water Bath 😘 Welcome to the latest project in the Borberad lab! The title and our new cover artwork are the program: We're searching for the perfect kiss. A huge thank you goes in advance to Sensi Seeds for providing this promising genetics! When the legends of Sensi team up with the Californian flair of Sherbinskis Corporation to create the Cherry Bacio (Cherry Pie x Gelato 41), we know: A medical heavyweight is in the making. Our goal? A complex terpene profile (dark cherries, vanilla, gas) and a deeply relaxing effect that gently but firmly pulls the plug on restlessness and insomnia. Day 1: The H2O2 Antisepsis Protocol We leave nothing to chance with this genetics. Before going into the soil, we disinfect. The seed was precisely placed at 12:00 AM into a 1% H2O2 solution. Timing is everything here: We let the nuts soak in peroxide for a maximum of 10 to 20 hours and transplant them before the shell opens or a taproot becomes visible. Why the rush? In the past, we had the pleasure of completely bleaching a seedling by soaking it too long, see (Ghost Train Haze). The little fighter survived the peroxide coma and later produced chlorophyll again, but was born with snow-white cotyledons. This time, we want a red cherry, not a white ghost! After just under 18 hours, the bath was over. The "Steam Bath" Intensive Care Unit in the Germination Tent After the H2O2 bath, it went straight into the Eazy Plug. But not just placed on the heating mat! The plug stands in a propagation box on a grid. Under the grid is tempered water. This is where our new hardware setup comes into play: The tent: Germination tent with 3 levels of 50W each. The location: All the way at the bottom. There, the temperature of the surrounding air is the lowest, but the humidity is the highest – perfect for seedlings. The thermostat management: Two new floor heaters provide foot warmth for the level. The thermostat sensor hangs 2/3 directly in the water of the propagation box and regulates the cool water to exactly 25°C. A side note to ourselves: This time we have an extremely watchful eye on the hardware! There will be no "Root BBQ" like with our Cherry Strudel due to a crazy thermostat under our supervision. The thermostat knows who's the boss in the lab now. 🔨🚫🔥 🕒 What's next? (The Master Plan) Ventilation: The box will remain closed for now. As soon as the first true leaves appear, the lid will come off to lower the humidity and harden the little Bacio. Moving to the Eazy Block: As soon as the roots peek out from the bottom or sides of the Eazy Plug, the entire plug will be placed into a larger Eazy Cube (Block) until it is fully rooted. After that, it’s into the 3L fabric pot. Here, Living Soil Mix awaits the little one: A base of Herbis Living Soil, refined with worm humus, activated plant charcoal, Zamnesia Budmix (dry fertilizer), and a hefty pinch of mycorrhiza directly into the planting hole. The tracks are set, the tech is running stable, and the water bath is exactly 25 degrees. Buckle up, it’s going to be fruity! Let the journey begin! 🍒 🍒 Day 3: The Turbo Breakout – When the Cherry is in a Hurry 🚀 Today, we were almost blown out of our lab socks! If you read my last post, you know that we tossed the Cherry Bacio (Sensi Seeds x Sherbinskis) into the H2O2 bath less than 70 hours ago and then transferred it into the Eazy Plug about 50 hours ago. I was prepared for the usual 3 to 7 days of waiting. But what does the Bacio do? It just blows up the plug! 💥 The Status Quo: The Cherry is Pushing Up! It is forcefully pushing upwards and has really pushed the plug apart. Currently, it proudly wears its "helmet" (the seed shell), but the will to reach the light is unmistakable. That it is moving at such a pace is a good sign for us; our parameters seem to be spot on this time. Three factors are responsible. The 1% H2O2 bath: It softened the shell just right and triggered the germination impulse – without causing the dreaded "albino bleaching" because we took it out on time. The genetics: Sensi and Sherbinskis have obviously mixed an absolute turbo DNA here. The vitality is unbelievable. The optimal Köima: Our water bowl is precisely tempered to 25°C, providing consistently warm, moist air from below through the grid. The Bacio seems to feel like it's in a Californian spa! 🛑 What now? (Hands Off!) Even though it itches to operate on the helmet with tweezers – now it’s time to keep the lid on! Since it is pushing up with the shell, it now desperately needs the extremely high humidity under the hood. The moisture further softens the remaining shell, allowing it to smoothly shed the helmet in the next few hours and unfold its cotyledons. As soon as the helmet falls, we’ll open the vents and let fresh lab air in for the first time. Buckle up, this genetics waits for no one! 🍒 Day 4: Helmet Off for Prayer – The Cherry is Unfolding! 😘 It’s done! The Cherry Bacio has brilliantly mastered the most critical phase of germination. As hoped, the high humidity under the hood softened the "helmet" (the seed shell) enough for the little one to shed it on its own. 🐣 Status Report: Freshly Hatched In the latest photo, it’s clear: The cotyledons are unfolded. They still look a bit "wrinkled" from the effort, but the rich green is already visible. This is the moment when the plant switches from the energy of the seed to its own energy production through photosynthesis. 🔨 The Next Steps Acclimatization: We are now very gently starting to open the lid of the box a crack. We don’t want to suddenly lower the rHF, but rather slowly acclimate the Bacio to the airflow of the Mars Hydro tent. Light Check: The level is now providing exactly the right spectrum to prevent "stretching" (etiolation). It should stay short and stout. Root Watch: We are eagerly waiting to see when the first root tip peeks out from the Eazy Plug. As soon as that happens, it’s time to move to the Eazy Block. The Cherry is just getting started with the kissing! 🍒✨ Day 6: Full Speed Ahead! 🍒🚀 Our Cherry Bacio is stable in the Eazy Plug and is already showing us its first true leaf pair. Day 7: Now is the moment to slowly lower the humidity so it can get used to the breeze in the tent. We don’t want a spoiled princess, but a strong queen!
