tantrumrage Thanks to Dave from SSSC for supplying me with the seeds for the contest! Placed one seed inside a small tube filled with a mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide on 6th march. 36hrs later the taproot was showing and I've transferred the seedling into a small 2,2l self-watering pot. Hopefully in a couple of days she will sprout 🌱

tantrumrage Hiya! We've officially entered the vegetation phase of this grow . Day 7 for my The Tropical Ice Cream One from Super Sativa Seed Club and the seedling just completed its first week of life. 🌱 She’s still very small (around 3–4 cm tall), but growth looks compact and healthy. The first real leaves are fully open and fresh new growth is already emerging from the center. ♻️The plant is growing in my living soil mix (V2.6) and sits in a wick-watering setup, so for now I’m letting the soil biology do the work. No additional nutrients for this grow except epsom salts for magnesium. Yellow sticky traps are placed as a precaution since fungus gnats have been an issue in previous runs, but everything looks under control so far. 💧Humidity is slightly on the higher side, which should actually help during the seedling stage. 🌡️Temperature fluctuations mostly follow the light cycle: 19 - 26°C. PPFD ~ 300 @ 18/6. A smooth and healthy start for week one. It’s always exciting to watch a new seedling begin its journey - especially in a contest grow. Looking forward to seeing how this tropical lady develops over the next weeks. Thanks for your time and see you next week! 🏻

tantrumrage Another week gone by and it's day 12 for my The Super Ice Cream One from Super Sativa Seed Club. 🌱 She's clearly settled in now and growth has noticeably picked up compared to last week. Started out a bit leggy but now she's nice and compact. VPD was between 0.7 - 0.8 during this week, changed the target to 0.9 as she was look a bit droopy. Temperatures are relatively stable with slight day/knight swings. Excited for next week and maybe some topping or LST. Thanks for checking in and see you next week!

tantrumrage I didn't initially plan to but decided to top her anyway so she can stay inside the propagator a bit longer. Two days after the topping and she's already redirecting her energy into the new shoots :) Also prepared another batch of soil for the upcoming transplant. I've mixed together: - Recycled soil - Rice husks - Worm castings - Compost - Chicken manure pellets - Nettle pellets - Neem cake - Alfalfa pellets - Horn meal - Kelp meal - Rock phosphate - Soil activator - Diabase rock dust - Basalt rock dust - Dolomite lime - Algae lime - Kieserite - Epsom salt - Potassium sulfate - Pumice Do you need all of this? Absolutely not! But I like to try out new things... The list started out with just 3 ingredients: chicken manure pellets, dolomite lime and diabase rock dust. And I've kept adding and experimenting 😅 Thanks for looking by and good luck ☘️ to everyone in the contest! See you next week :)

tantrumrage 🌴 🍦 Day 26 for my The Tropical Ice Cream One from SSSC: She is now sitting in her final 42l Eurobox setup with a wick watering system (fabric + wicks), which will also carry her through flower. The timing felt perfect, the rootball was fully developed with strong, healthy white roots wrapping the entire cube. I've decided to use a 42l box for the contest despite the 120cm height limitation. Let's see if I'll regret it in the future 🤣 At transplant, I added mycorrhizae directly into the planting hole, ensuring immediate root contact. This should help with: - faster root colonization - improved nutrient uptake - stronger overall plant resilience So far, she handled the move without any visible stress. - Temperature: 23.5°C - Humidity: 55% RH - PPFD: ~415 Running slightly higher VPD now (~1.1 - 1.2) to encourage more active transpiration and root expansion. Will increase the PPFD over the next weeks to encourage vigorous growth (hopefully). Transplant + mycorrhizae + final container is where things usually start to get interesting. If everything connects well below the surface, I’m expecting a noticeable growth push over the next days. Thanks for checking in and see you next week 🌱 good look my growmies ❤️

tantrumrage 🌴 🍦 Day 33 for the Tropical Ice Cream One It's been a rather stressful week for the little one. Did top her for a second time, maybe a bit early but I'm wary of the stretch given my height limitations. She's already readjusted and has redirected her engery towards the new shoots. This was probably the last time I'll top her. Would like to give her more time in vegetation but I'm not sure how long the contest will run for, so I'll probably flip to 12/12 on day 40. Happy growing and see you next week 🌱

tantrumrage It's day 40 for The Tropical Ice Cream One and she has fully recovered from last week's topping. I'm continuously training the 8 mains to keep a low profile and also taking off leaves here and there. Will probably give her a couple more days before I'll flip to 12/12, would love to veg her for longer. Gave some BTI and Nematodes to deal with the last surviving fungus gnats, hopefully for good. - Temperature: 27°C - RH: 66% - PPFD: ~480 Thanks for checking in and see you next week! Happy growing 🌱

tantrumrage Day 47 for The Tropical Ice Cream One 🍦 I've switched her to 12/12 on day 43 so I'll count this week as veg. Did some minor defoliation during this week and kept adding more and more stakes to maintain her low profile. So far she's looking happy and healthy so I'll just keep training her to fill out the box. Really curious to see the amount of stretch she's got in store and how she'll develop over the next couple of weeks. Thanks for checking in and see you next week! Happy growing 🌱

tantrumrage It's day 54 for the Tropical Ice Cream One🍦 and day 11 since switching to 12/12. No signs of flowering yet so I'll still count this week as vegetative growth. She grew quite a bit so flowering should start any day now. Overall she seems quite happy despite the higher temperatures (~33°C peak) but she did show some taco leaves so I've turned the exhaust higher. But I'm not too worried. Looking forward to week ~4-5 when she should start to smell :) Thanks for checking in and see you next week. Happy growing 🌱

tantrumrage Day 61 for The Tropical Ice Cream One 🍦 She stretched quite a bit and is now officially in week 1 of flowering. The canopy is already nice and flat so I've kept training to a minimum. She seems to be enjoying herself: VPD is around 1.3 and PPFD between 700-800. Bud sites are developing nicely and I'm excited to see how she performs over the next couple of weeks. Thanks for checking in and see you next week. Happy growing 🌱

tantrumrage Day 68 for The Tropical Ice Cream One 🍦 She continued to stretch during this week and is now at ~40cm height. She's well into early flower and starting to stack up her budsites. I did some (minor) lollipoping and remove some of the lower nodes. Will probably do another one during next week to help her focus her energy on the canopy. VPD is around 1.4 for now with 850-900 PPFD throughout the canopy, she seems to like it and is looking healthy. Thanks for checking in and see you next week. Happy growing 🌱

tantrumrage She grew quite a bit during this week but I think the stretch is almost finished now. Budsites are looking promising and I lollipopped her again. Summer is finally here and so the temperature is rising to around 28 °C during daytime and humidity around 59% not ideal but should be okay. Thanks for checking in and see you next week! tantrumrage She's really stacking up the budsites and her smell is getting stronger every day: creamy, sweet and maybe hints of mint? 🤔 Two buds where showing slight signs of light bleaching so I've reduced the PPFD to around 780-820. I'm very happy with her overall structure and vigor, she's drinking almost 10l in 24hrs. Really looking forward to see her bulk up in the coming weeks.

tantrumrage Another week gone by and the Tropical Ice Cream One is fattening up nicely. She's looking happy and healthy, maybe a bit to much nitrogen in the soil as she has a very dark tone of green. The smell is really starting to develop now: it's definitely living up to its name. Hints of sweetness and orange just like the Calippo Ice back in the day. So maybe her lineage has some Tropicana Cookie in there 🤔 I'll be on holiday for a week so hopefully the tank will suffice and she won't be toast once I get back 🤞🏻 The weather is cooling down over the next week so everything should work out. Thanks for checking in and see you next week! Happy growing 🌱 Edit: 48hrs power blackout, so I think this plant will be dead by the time I get home. It's a shame, she was really promising. Good luck to everyone still running.

tantrumrage She survived ❤️ turns out the blackout only lasted for about 8hrs. My WiFi didn't reconnect automatically but luckily the shelly plug kept running the schedule. So the grow can continue 🙌🏻 The smell is really starting to kick in, despite the high temperatures in my attic she's still very loud. I'm still leaning towards orange ice cream and hints of Maracuja 🤔 She did put on some weight during this week and is now also clearly showing some foxtailing. Might be heat related or my soil was to rich in nitrogen. Nonetheless I still think she's pretty. Let's see what a couple more weeks will do. Thanks for checking in and see you next week! Happy growing 🌱

tantrumrage The heatwave is still very much present and temps are ranging anywhere from 25-30°C inside my tent. But I knew it would be getting crispy in my attic. The plant is still looking happy and healthy and still no signs of fading. However some leaves are starting to show sow purple hues 🙌🏻 Only a couple more weeks and she should be ready for harvest. Trichomes are mostly cloudy with a few clear ones remaining. I'm really starting to adore the foxtailing, looks like a little trident lol. Had to change my air filter to a bigger one because she is really loud 😌 Thanks for checking in and see you next week! Happy growing 🌱

tantrumrage This will probably be the last entry before harvest🤞🏻 Temperatures are still very hot, sometimes +30°C inside the tent but she's taking the heat like a champ. Foxtailing gave her a very distinctive look and I'll be missing looking after her. She's still very loud despite the high temperature: very fruity, orange and a bit of a sour kick to it. Me likes! Can't wait to try her. Most of the trichomes are cloudy with a few amber ones here and there. Some are even showing some purple hues. My guess is 3-7 more days until harvest. I'll post the harvest results in ~4-5 weeks once everything is dried and cured. Thanks to everyone for your support and comments and thanks to SSSC and Dave for this contest ❤️ I've had a lot of fun growing this beauty.

Overall, it smells like a tropical fruit smoothie mixed with sweet candy - extremely loud and mouth-watering. There is also a distinct juicy Clementine note present and also a subtle sweetness which is hard to pin down: sweet bubblegum or candy-like notes.

tantrumrage After a total of 114 it was time to harvest The Tropical Ice Cream One. It has been quite a journey and I had a lot of fun growing this one and taking part in the contest. It was an easy and relaxed grow without any major issues, except the power outage while I was on holiday. She responded very well to topping and LST and I will definitely be growing this strain again. It was fun taking part in this contest and I'd like to thank each and everyone of you for the comments and likes! ❤️ Thanks for checking in one last time! Good luck to everyone and happy growing 🌱

@tantrumrage, the contest has now been extended, but it's generally not optimal to grow indoors fully into the summer. Next time, I'll start my photoperiodic in early January with 6 to 7 weeks of vegetation. It's 26 degrees here now, but I've reduced the light for the last 2 weeks and hung it lower. It's also getting slight drybacks now, one more feeding and then Flash Clean. Peace

tantrumrage commented2mo ago
@Prof_Weed, I feel you with the summer! My grow room is under the roof, so it can get up to 31°C in the tent :/ I've set December as the deadline for new runs: 8 weeks of veg and then into flowering, and afterwards starting some outdoors.

Prof_Weed commented2mo ago
@tantrumrage, yeah, just saying, growing anything else is against the weather. You either lose the battle, or you have a climate-controlled room, which would be over the top.
