FuenfFingerKokoGrow Hybrid Coco-Hydro Experiment – let's see if this works I'm currently working on a new system and just wanted to show it off because it's a bit different from what you usually see. The basic idea was: I wanted to combine the benefits of coco, clay pebbles, and a water reservoir without going completely DWC or pure Coco. Current setup: – 11L pot hanging in a bucket – nutrient solution with an air stone at the bottom of the bucket – clay pebbles at the bottom of the pot, coco substrate on top – a color mesh bag around the pot – water level about 3/4 of the bucket – slow dripper for light recirculation The thought behind it is as follows: Coco buffers well but also dries out DWC grows fast but is sensitive Clay pebbles have a lot of air but little buffer So the idea: Coco on top for stability Clay pebbles below as a transition zone water with oxygen underneath + light flow to prevent salt buildup What’s different here compared to many setups: The roots are not hanging freely in the water like in DWC, and not just in the coco like in a normal grow. They grow in clay pebbles that are constantly in water. And I'm really curious if this is even sensible. Maybe the water level is too high Maybe only the bottom layer should be moist Maybe it works great Maybe it's complete nonsense 😄 That's exactly why this is running as an experiment. By the way, the plant is a struggling candidate after powdery mildew + H₂O₂, so perfect for testing. I'll keep you updated.
