CanarianGrow92 Question 1
Tell us a bit about yourself:
- who are you:
I'm an half canarian / half Dutch grower, living of course in this beautiful island. Born in 1992. I consider myself as a relaxed person but i love to get together with friends for a nice barbecue with some beers and of course something good to smoke
-where are you from:
As mentioned im half Dutch and half Canarian, my dad is a canarian and my mother is Dutch. I was born in Amsterdam but moved to the canary islands as a little kid, so i consider myself more canarian than Dutch.
-what do you do outside of growing:
What else can we do apart of growing our favorite plants!?!? (Just joking), well we (me and my wife) love to go out with some friends or just together, we have 10 months of good weather so we really spend most of the time outside, sitting on the terrace with something cold to drink or eating some good fish on the coast side! Also we love to play video games, so in our free time we enjoy also a bit of relaxed time at home.

CanarianGrow92 Question 2
How did you get into growing? Tell us about your very first steps:
Well the question is difficult to answer, basically i grew up surrounded by plants, my dad was an old school commercial grower in holland, his hobby was everything related to growing and smoking, when i started to get older my dad always had some plants in the garden outside, so whenever he was busy or on holidays i was in charge of them (yeah i screwed up some of his plants), of course i also started to smoke and finally started to grow my own things, when i was younger it was quite hard to get some good things to smoke here so why not growing my own?

CanarianGrow92 Question 3
What role does cannabis play in your life, personally and as grower:
As grower: Well its time consuming of course, at least if you want everything measured and correctly done, so as grower it plays a big role as its finally a responsibility, like taking care of an animal, a plant needs water, nutrients and care, so for me, it's like taking care of little kids, you feed them, you clean them, you look agter them, etc...
Personally: well my wife also smokes (more than i do) so we enjoy it both. And thats where cannabis plays a good role in my personal life, we enjoy together, normally at the terrace outside just to relax a bit from a stressful day, simply perfect.

CanarianGrow92 Question 4
What growing methods do you prefer and why? (Indoor, outdoor, soil, hydro, etc):
Well, at the moment i grow indoor, a more controlled environment. Of course i have sun 10 months a year, but unfortunately i don't have a garden, if not probably i would have done both, outdoor and indoor.
The good thing of indoor is that i dont need to care a lot about the external parameters (pests, humidity, rain, or heatwave) that much as with outdoor. I can just grow enough for me and my wife to smoke for the months until next harvest. I also try to keep it easy as well we all have a life (work, etc..) so i normally do just soil and here is where biotabs kicks in, it keeps thing a lot more easier and at the end it saves a lot of time.
So in short: indoor, soil, organic nutrients

CanarianGrow92 Question 5
Which strain is closest to your heart and what fascinates you about it?
I dont have 1 single strain as its difficult to only stick with 1 strain, so many options, so many terpenes, flavors, potency. But if i must choose only one, i would say the Frozen Biscotti from Dutch Passion.
Why? This plant stretch a lot, so even if you go 12/12 from week 1 you get a decent tall plant with extremely hard, sticky cookie dough gassy buds, with a little higher pH in coco she turns completely black which is beautiful to the eyes. The uplift on the smoke is tremendous as its a perfectly balanced hybrid.

CanarianGrow92 Question 6
What has been your biggest learning moment as a grower - a mistake or success that helped you grow:
Well, we continue to learn every day, if you stay stuck with the same methods finally you get obsolete.
Mistakes: I even make the most stupid mistakes until today, every plant is different and we need to observe and learn, i normally write down some corrections on specific strains to learn from them, some wants more food, more water, more heat or less. But i must say the biggest mistake i made was when i was younger and really started to grow: i thought ahhh i just pop the seed, add some water, add some nutrients and we are done, guess what? Wrong. I didn't measure pH so i got a nutrient lock, adding more nutrients to compensate, finally burning the plants and making myself crazy.
Success: go organic, as simple as that, i dont need to make myself crazy with the amount of ml in nutrients per week from 7 different components like sugars, pk boosters, silica boosters, carbohydrates, enzymes, and the long etc.. of bottles. I learned that sometimes less = more

CanarianGrow92 Question 7
What does your typical grow routine looks like? - how much time do you invest and what do you enjoy most?
Time: every day routine, at around 18:00 i have a look at the plants, i do some defoliation, some adjustments if i have LST, take some pictures if needed and review if i need to add some water, this dedication of course increases when the plants get bigger and bigger, the first couple of weeks the dedication is minimum.
What do you enjoy most?: harvest timeeee!!! And of course late flowering, seeing that the buds are getting bigger and bigger, coming close to an end with their own specific terpenes and trichomes! It makes you feel that you succeed in the routine.

CanarianGrow92 Question 8
What advice would you give beginners who are just stepping into the world of growing?:
Keep it easy and start slowly with stable and well known strains from a reputable seedbank, prefer old school strains like an Amsterdam amnesia, blueberry, white widow, they are great and strong, new crosses often have some undesired straights. avoid bulk seedbanks with cheap 1€ seeds(today they also sell them as a 'brand' with even the same prices as good seedbanks... And even the best seedbanks sometimes have particular strains which doesn't tolerate a lot of stress and/or mistakes causing hermies.
Nowadays i would definitely suggest buying a box of biotabs and just some orgatrex and biopk, with only these 3 things you can grow your plants easily with some good results, without a lot of difficult measurements in ph, ec and things that sounds like science in the beginning (slowly you can learn and adapt)

CanarianGrow92 Question 9
How did you first heard about biotabs and what made you want to try it?
I started to use organic nutrients from different brands, i was tired of spending tons on 10 different bottles with all kind of mixes, measuring EC and spending a lot of time, i had good results of course, but i also have a life so i started to try different options.
I used other organic brands but finally i was buying some seeds from Dutch Passion and looking a bit on their website and saw the brand biotabs, i never heard about it, so i started to deep dive a little more and tough it was even easier than applying different powders for grow and flower as i just need to put a tab in the soil. I reached out to my local grow shop and bought a box, in the beginning i just used biotabs as base nutrient adding some other organic stuff in flowering. Finally after a while i saw an offer on the biotabs page, so i decided to go with orgatrex and biopk, after this i continued to use biotabs as my one and only brand for organic growing, as its complete and has good prices.

CanarianGrow92 Question 10
How has biotabs influenced your grow and what do you appreciate most about the product?
Its a game changer, I saved hours of work as now a child can grow my plants. it's 1 time preparation and for the rest you almost forget about the rest, in flowering we add some bioPK but in general we only use water, without even measuring pH, which sounded crazy in the beginning, but after 1 year using biopk, no issues at all, just big fat frosty buds.
What do i appreciate? Avoiding to mix all kind of products with the correct EC, pH etc.. and if you do this on 20 plants its quite some work. Also of course, the price, we all look for good prices, and biotabs have a very decent price, specially because 1 bottle of bioPK is enough for a couple of runs and don't forget the tablets, if you put 2 tabs in 10 liters per plant its around 2€ per plant, which is nothing.
congratulation, this is a very well executed Interview Diary, very readable, your grower self and your personality shines very well
thank you for letting us know more about yourself
greetings Mia
