TangerineDre4m Unfortunately, 4 seedlings were lost to soil mites in the soil: 3 Gorilla Z autos and 1 Frosted Zin x Cookies dog auto. The mites lay eggs on the emerging seedlings and damaged them too much to come back from. The Grapefruit auto seed was planted as a replacement. It was a really big seed! Instead of starting her directly in the final container, I decided to try the glass of water method. I soaked the seed for about 28 hours, after which she was planted in a starter cup with some fresh potting soil. After 48 hours in the cup, she started emerging. After about 60 hours, she is showing the classic helmet head. I misted her helmet a bit to help it soften and loosen. After about 28 hours of soaking and 84 hours in soil, Grapefruit has completely germinated and is ready to grow! As I understand it, this strain is pretty good for SoG. That's not what I want though. Let's see if we can get a big plant from a big seed! 😻 Currently running 23C and 72% RH. Thanks for checking in :).

TangerineDre4m DLI 11 Grapefruit is doing great! She is looking happy and healthy, growing a little everyday. At day 4, a root is visible at the bottom of the starter cup. This is my sign that she will be transplanted in 2-3 days. At day 5 I decided to transplant because I saw multiple roots starting to come out of the bottom of the cup. She already had a really nice root ball for such a small plant. I carefully flipped the pot, put her into a pre-watered hole and topped her off with a bit of organic potting soil. I made sure not to press down to avoid stressing her roots. Day 6, 24 hours after transplant Grapefruit looks happy. She has visibly grown, which is a great sign.

TangerineDre4m 23-04-2026 Days 8-13 Day 8: 15 DLI Day 9: 18 DLI Day 11: 20 DLI On day 8, Grapefruit is looking good and growing steadily. On day 9, DLI was raised to 18. I will increase it to 20 DLI over the next few days. On day 11, DLI was raised to 20. She was watered with 700ml in a medium ring around the stem. On day 12 VPD was increased from 0.9 to 1 by reducing humidity to 67%. On day 13 Grapefruit was watered with 1L. She also received her first couple of adjustments: she was very eager to grow up again!

TangerineDre4m 04-05-2026 Day 19-21 Day 19: 23 DLI Day 21: 25 DLI Day 19: Grapefruit has responded well to her LST and is showing strong growth. I took off a big leaf shading the entire plant. She was then readjusted this morning and was watered with 1,3L of rainwater yesterday. Day 21: Grapefruit was watered with 1,5L of rainwater.

TangerineDre4m 07-05-2026 Day 22-28 Day 24: 30 DLI Day 22: Grapefruit is doing well. She was readjusted again today and taking LST nicely. Her shape is starting to come through. She was watered with 1,5L of rainwater today. Day 24: I watered her with 1L yesterday, not sure why (probably high?). Also increased DLI to 29-30 today. Day 25: She was watered with 2L of rainwater. Her structure is strong and she has thick side branches. I took off the first node from all the sides over the last few days. Day 27: Around 60 hours after her last watering, Grapefruit was dry and received 2,5L of rainwater.

TangerineDre4m 30-05-2026 I haven't updated in a while but Grapefruit is doing great at around day 45. She has quite a compact structure with nice even tops. She is gonna be a dense one. Day 50: 5 days later and Grapefruit is looking great. She isn't the biggest but has a good amount of long and dense tops. She is also getting super frosty all over, including on her fan leaves. The smell is fresh and light with a fruity complexity. She has been drinking around 4L every 72 hours.
