This is my second ever grow, and my first with a photoperiod. It is in coco this time, which I hope to recycle. I want this to be an organic grow, so the only nutes I hope to use through the whole grow is liquid seaweed. This has no N-P-K rating, so right away I'm flying blind. So far she looks healthy, and I know fish and bone meal are good organic flower nutrients. I figure if she shows deficiencies in flowering, I can chuck a bit of that at her. The other thing I have different to my first grow is a CO2 bag hanging in the tent. Got it from ebay. Figured it was worth a punt, as I read CO2 has a massive effect on yield.

Does any one know the NPK content of Maxicrop Liquid Seaweed? They don't put it on the bottle.

Hey there HCF , Maxicrop Liquid Seaweed is "NPK: 5-5-5, Dilution Rate: 30ml - 9L Water" source : amazon dot co dot uk /MAXICROP-COMPLETE-ORGANIC-SEAWEED-FERTILISER/dp/B00HEMKMD2 , careful with the pH btw, it will raise it some, and might cause issues in the soil if you're not careful. By the way you can use this as a spray twice a week at sunrise it works better as a spray same concentration (you can go a bit higher) but just spray the leafs.hope this helps ! 🚀

Day 41 - she is starting to stretch. Day 43 - more LST as I need to manage height if she grows as big as Kannabia say

Only the two main colas seem to be stretching at the moment, and one of those slipped it's soft tie, so the canopy looks all over the place this week. Pleased that the fan leaves have filled out. Later pictures this week show pistillation.

Soooo...I have in my diary a harvest window of early-mid August. About a 5 weeks more of pistil mania until she starts to bronze up and begin to smell. If the breeder's guidelines are correct.

Still another 6 weeks until crop, according to the breeder. So I'm down to one pic per week. The pistils are fatter than the strain I grew last. I have a CO2 bag in the tent this time, so I wonder if it is because of that, or genetics, or a bit of both.

She's frosting up nicely. I have 1st week of August in the diary for the flush, according to the breeder's data. This strain is not well documented, but what info there is, is very encouraging. I have a CO2 bag in the tent. This week I also added a 100w of UVA/UVB via a reptile bulb in a clip lamp clipped to a tent pole. This supplements parts of the spectrum not covered by my MARS HYDRO ECO 300w. Hopefully it will increase yields. UV is damaging to human skin, so I am checking her less and less frequently!

She has started to go bronze. I'm realise that I am probably not going to get an optimum yield, possibly because I have stuck to liquid seaweed feed the whole way through. However if the breeders guidelines are correct, this still has 5 weeks to run (but I'm beginning to doubt this), there is plenty of time left for fattening up.

I have this diaried for harvest 2nd week of August, based on breeder data (65-70 days flowering time). I turned to flowering light cycle 47 days ago. I read somewhere that breeder flowering time starts post stretch, so I added 14 days. Have I calculated this right?

Hey there , timing your plant like that isnt really the best idea because different breeders do things differently so one breeder and the next will have differences in how they say their flower time. plus you dont really know the conditions that the breeder had, maybe they're doing it indoors with hydro and using all sorts of techniques you're not, so that will obviously affect the growth rate. The only real way to figure out when you've got to harvest is to look at the trichomes using a magnifier, anything over 40x and you should be able to see them, then make a choice on how you want your weed to be that means how much amber you want in there. but yeah, usually i've found a fair few weeks over the breeder recommendation usually works out. Hope this helps ! 🚀

So I have scrapped the Maxigrow feed and returned to the nutes from my 1st grow. It was going to effect yield. Although I know not to worry too much about fan leaf colour at this stage, but you do. I need to do more research on organic nutes and may be try again in a future grow. Trichome shot confirms that this will run until at least early August.

Still feeding, although I have pH'd 2 litres of flush water, ready to deploy. This morning's trichome shot (x8) suggests that she still has a way to go, though. I'm waiting on a x40 microscope, arriving by mail order this week, so I can get a good look.

I added soft plant ties back this week. We have been enjoying a few days of good weather in the UK, so I threw all the windows open to take care of the smell, and let her have it, for almost her whole light cycle. She is now spending her down time in my home made propagation tent. The scrubbed tent is full of autos. There is quite a stink just before lights on (much more than when in full sunlight), but luckily the room is airtight, so it's manageable. I also started to flush on day 95. Two weeks of that will bring me right in to the middle of the breeder's harvest window. I might have to snip a branch before that, as I'm running a bit low.

At day 103 and two days away from the breeder's harvest window, she is still spitting out white pistils. The tip burn has receded noticeably on the fan leaves and she looks in rude health considering she has been flushing for 11 days now. I gave her another 1l this morning. I have cut one first node branch already and a bud from one of the 3rd node branches. It is definitely a lifting sativa buzz that keeps me energized. I suspect at least another week until harvest, as she is showing no signs of deficiencies yet.

I watered her yesterday as the base of the pot was dry and the pot felt very light. I am now on day 14 of flush, and she is showing no signs of deficiencies, and is still producing white pistils. A comparison of shots taken three weeks ago shows how much the colas have bulked out. They have also grown in height (you compare the height of the cola to the top set of fan leaves) but the upward growth over the past three weeks has not bulked out as much as lower down. I wonder if this might be caused by the flush? Any how, I think she is getting pretty close but since I watered her yesterday, that will keep her going until the middle of next week (day 103-104) when I will assess whether to water her again.

I chopped the top colas on day 112. I realise that I flushed too early. The smaller top growth on the harvested colas shows that I should have kept feeding her, right up until now. But I have made many mistakes on this grow and still ended up with I estimate just under an ounce. But once I was able to drop the lights close, the remainder of the plant has shown plenty of new pistils. So I will grow her out for as long as she wants to. No nutes. Water only when the leaves show she needs it. This could run for a few weeks yet.

Hey there , hope i answered your question, the best thing for you would be to buy a 60x pocket microscope for like 4 dollars and take a look at the trichomes, would be a shame to spend so much time then harvest too early righ?

@hcf2012, i got mine off amazon for $1.79 including delivery but it took like 6 weeks to get here or more lol cant remember, spend more if you need the convenience of the quick delivery right? i literally got the cheapest piece of kit i could find, and really it works just fine

@CRiSPrGrow, thanks. Amazon or eBay? $4 you say? I'm off to have a look.
CRiSPrGrow

@hcf2012, at 8x you can distinguish the trichomes but you wont be able to see if they're filled or not as they will all appear "white"... so it's useful for pictures but not for your purposes, you need something like 40x minimum to see with the naked eye, even 30x is juuust not enough. hope this helps my friend : and good luck ! 🚀

@hcf2012, yes some hardly stink much at all & then you get some of the diesel or cheese strains and man they can make you paranoid every time you open a bag to smoke let alone a tent full of buds lmao 😝

@DILLIGAF, hi. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. As I said to @CRiSPrGrow above, this is a bit of a step into the unknown for me, and only my 2nd grow. I had to put the scrubber on yesterday because she's starting to stink up. My last plant went to 10 days before harvest before stink. Strain nuances, I guess.

hey there hope i found the information you were looking for, as i said careful with that pH bro 🚀
CRiSPrGrow
CRiSPrGrowcommented6 years ago
@hcf2012, i see what you're doing there, i've tried the bio route myself, using lemon juice too, but truth is you really do want some sort of specialised product because they'll "keep" the solution at steady pH, you'll surely get some oscillation using vinegar , perhaps even hours later, just speaking from my limited experience. that being said you clearly haven t had any issues so far and your plants are healthy as can be ! 👊

hcf2012commented6 years ago
@CRiSPrGrow, Hey, thanks for the nute info. It is really useful. On top of a whole heap of things I learned from my 1st grow (listed in week 4 comments), the one I didn't mention was pH. It is always the last thing I do before watering. I live in a hard water area (pH 7.25-7.5) and regulate with clear malt vinegar. About 2.5ml/l brings it to ph 6-6.5 range. Just putting that out there....
