The period was hot and dry throughout, with the first two weeks hotter still than the week just gone. The care protocol was deliberately simplified before I left so it could be executed without judgement calls: watering twice daily, Wuxal Universal at one cap per 10L every second day, and one cap of Wuxal Calcium once a week. Bottles were pre-labelled, and the same regime suited the tomatoes growing alongside. It held. All six plants came through without a single loss, no deficiency symptoms, no pest activity, and no heat damage worth reporting. Three weeks of unattended growth in 12.5L and 20L Airpots through a dry spell is a real test of both the substrate mix and the person doing the watering — both passed. --- ## PLANT-BY-PLANT (Day 102, gains over three weeks) **Runtz Carlton — 170cm** · +36cm, by some margin the strongest grower of the group and now the tallest plant in the garden. The mass now sits in the upper third, the lower stem having been lollipopped before I left. This one will need staking before the stretch, not after. **Tropical Fruit Cake — 156cm** · +26cm. The Ambassador test variety continues to impress. Strong apical dominance despite having been topped, a very symmetrical frame, and a deep saturated green. A convincing first season for this variety here. **Mellowz — 154cm** · +24cm, holding the broad, spreading Spritzer habit with several tops of roughly equal strength. No trace left of the nitrogen yellowing from Week 8. **CBDRelax — 144cm** · +29cm — the biggest proportional jump of the CBD pair. Open, elongated frame, still leaning on its support stake. **Mendocino Skunk — 144cm** · +21cm. The double topping has paid off in structure: wide, even, four well-developed main shoots, no single dominant cola. Vital and completely unbothered by the heat. **CBDelight — 115cm** · +24cm. The smallest of the six, but compact and densely branched rather than behind. It has been the late developer all season and is still tracking upward. --- ## LOLLIPOPPING, DEFOLIATION AND POSITIONING All six plants were lollipopped before I left — the lower third stripped out to push energy into the upper bud sites and open up the understory. Today they got a heavy round of defoliation on top of that, targeting the large fan leaves. Two reasons: airflow and light penetration through what had become very dense canopies, and mould prevention ahead of the flowering phase. Humidity peaked at 86% during the reporting period, and from here the nights get longer, cooler and damper — the conditions that decide whether a dense bud finishes clean or not are being set now, not in October. The plants also came out from under the canopy and into the open garden for the day, so light reaches them from all sides rather than one. They go back under the canopy tonight and will keep doing so — overhead protection at night is the single most useful piece of infrastructure in a German outdoor season. --- ## A LABELLING QUESTION Worth recording honestly: I suspect I swapped the labels on the two CBD plants back at the seedling stage. The plant running as CBDRelax has the open, stretched, support-dependent habit of last year's CBDelight, while the one labelled CBDelight is compact and self-supporting — which is CBDRelax's described character, not CBDelight's. Flowering time (roughly 8 weeks versus 8–9), bud structure and trichome density should settle it by harvest. Since both go into the same tincture production, the practical consequence is nil; the documentation consequence is not, so it goes in the log as an open question rather than a quiet correction. --- ## OVERALL ASSESSMENT — WEEK 14 Six healthy plants at day 102, four of them between 144 and 170cm, all through a three-week heat period on a simplified feeding regime and third-party care. That is the outcome I was hoping for and slightly better than I expected. The one number that matters strategically: Runtz Carlton at 170cm has crossed the 160cm ceiling that kept the cellar available as a fallback finishing space. With the stretch still ahead, the four tallest plants are now committed to finishing outdoors under the canopy. That was always the likely outcome, but it is now settled rather than optional, and it puts more weight on support structures and mould management for the rest of the season. Daylength here is down to roughly 14.5 hours. Flowering induction is imminent — first pistils within the next one to two weeks would be entirely on schedule. --- ## WHAT'S NEXT Support structures go in this week, Runtz Carlton first. Feeding shifts off the vacation regime and back onto a proper bloom schedule as the stretch begins — reduced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium up. No further defoliation for the next two to three weeks; today's round was substantial and the plants need their remaining leaf area to build flower sites. Then a second selective pass around day 21 of flower. Watching for: first pistils, stretch magnitude on the tall four, and any sign of the heavily defoliated canopies bleaching now that they are getting full sun after weeks in partial shade.

Photoperiod did its job right on schedule — I called it last week for one to two weeks out, and it landed at the early end of that. The weather flipped at the same time. Average temperature fell from 23°C to 17.7°C, minimum down to 9.9°C, and humidity climbed to an average of 86.8%. The plant that ran as CBDRelax all season is CBDelight, and vice versa. The habit made it unambiguous — the tall, open, stake-dependent one is a match for my CBDelight from 2025, while the compact self-supporting one is CBDRelax's described character. Anyone reading the earlier entries in this diary: everything up to and including Week 14 uses the old, swapped names. Final confirmation comes at harvest via flowering time and bud structure. --- ## FEEDING — SWITCHED TO BLOOM Wuxal Blütenpracht at 20ml per 10L daily, alternating rain and groundwater. From today I have added Hakaphos Rot at 6g per 10L. Measured EC 1825 µS, pH 6.2. One thing I got wrong: groundwater temperature is 15.5°C. That is too cold going into the root zone, and it throttles uptake — phosphorus especially, which is exactly what the plants need now. Water will be standing to temper before it goes on from here. --- ## LST ON RUNTZ CARLTON — AND A SPLIT STEM Tied the main shoots down today using jute cord anchored to cable-tie loops on the Airpot rim. The pot-rim approach works well and keeps the plants mobile, which matters here since they move between the open garden and the canopy. It did not go entirely cleanly. The stem split lengthwise at a branch fork under the pull. I bound it with jute tape and it does not look serious — cannabis heals this kind of injury readily and usually comes back stronger at the site. In hindsight the fault was mine: I anchored at the fork itself and pulled straight down, which is the one combination that levers a fork apart. Anchoring above the fork on individual branches and pulling out and away would have avoided it. Runtz Carlton has now had lollipopping, heavy defoliation and LST inside three weeks. It is visibly the sparsest of the six. No further intervention on that plant this season. --- ## THE REAL STORY: 86.8% HUMIDITY Flowering onset and near-saturated air arriving in the same week is the worst timing this grow could have handed me. Botrytis needs high humidity, moderate temperature and still air, and I currently have all three. What is in place: the canopy overhead keeps rain and dew off, last week's defoliation opened the canopies up, and lollipopping cleared the understory. Mendocino Skunk has genuine mould resistance in its favour. What worries me is Tropical Fruit Cake, which has the densest, most tightly-packed structure of the six, and the dense CBD flowers. From here it is daily inspection of the bud sites, no overhead watering, morning watering only so nothing sits wet overnight, and enough spacing between plants for air to actually move. If the split stem on Runtz Carlton stays damp under that jute wrap, it is an open wound in perfect fungal conditions — that gets checked too. --- ## OVERALL — WEEK 15 Six plants into flower on day 109, all healthy, height under better control than I expected a week ago, and the labelling question closed. The season is where I wanted it. Everything now depends on the next eight weeks of weather. A dry September and this is a good harvest; a wet one and mould management becomes the whole job.
