5/15/19 Day 1 Taproot showed after a few days in: (Papertowel method with warm distilled water) Placed in Soil Blend: Jiffy Pod, Miracle Grow Garden Soil Organic, Root Master Powder. Lesson: Don’t use miracle grow, next time start cracked seed in jiffy pod with root growth supplement. 5/24/19 Day 9 Seedling Sprouted Showed signs of stretching Reinforced and buried stem slightly Placed under small 19 watt LED Veg Light (24/0 Schedule) Lesson: Check for sprout at least once a day to avoid stretched seedling. Also, once seedling is sprouted transplant entire pod (remove mesh pot) into larger pot that is at least the size of a large red party cup so it has plenty of room to grow without having to be transplanted again. Next transplant should be into the final container.

Day 12 5/27/19 (Memorial Day) First Set of leaves sprouted and doing well, second set just barely visible. Noticed leaves twisting ever so slightly. Soil still moist, no signs of over-hydration. Stem slowly turning more green, still angel hair pasta thin. Added 60 watt incandescent light primarily for heat. Day 14 5/29/19 Watering Day d/t transplant into cup Pictures are 24 hours after transplanting to red party cup (Classico). Seedling seems to have responded well to the move. All stem that was still thin and white was buried underneath the soil, looks much straighter and happier. Still running under 19 watt led veg light and a 60 watt incandescent on 24/0 schedule. Intermittently placing fan in grow space for air flow. Day 16 5/31/19 Second set of leaves fully out with three defined fingers.

6/3/19 Day 19 Water Day Second set of leaves have come in with three fingers, First true set still growing, one finger each (will they eventually die and fall off?). Second leaf set drooping/bowing downward and its edges curling upward ever so slightly. Possible heat damage(?). Had been running a 19 watt led veg light (cheap one from Home Depot) and 60 watt incandescent light 2-3 inches above plant. Temperature directly above the plant had been 76-78 degrees with 50% humidity, however, suspecting radiant heat became too much as play grew taller and leaves grew larger. Additional mistake: Timer was programmed but not switched to “timer on” mode, so plant has continued to receive 24/0 light schedule instead of the 20/4 that was programmed into the timer (oops). So, timer properly set and turned on, incandescent and veg light raised 5-6 inches above plant.

Water Day (half strength) - [ ] Kangaroots, Microbe Brew, Grow Big, Distilled Water, Ph-6.8, PPM-890). - [ ] Lessons Learned - Ph Up/Down from fox farms is super strong, huge upswing in 500ml distilled water with only 0.25ml of pH Up. - [ ] I think I need to pH water before adding nutrients. Can anyone verify this please? - [ ] Will transplant to recirculating dwc soon, until then probably watering every 3-5 days with current nutrient mix. Can’t wait to get it under better lights! - [ ] Most likely going to mainline if it all works out ok. 6/10/19, DAY 26, UPDATE: Water day due to transplant Decided to change plans a bit. Transferred to big fabric pot and fox farms ocean forest soil. Will grow plant out and cut clones. Will then put clones immediately into DWC setup. This mother plant will then be moved outdoors to flower. Hopefully it all pays off! Day 29 6/14/19 Decided to clear all fan leaves that had less than five fingers then top at the 4th node and LST the remaining fan leaves. The goal is to eventually cut two clones off of the the 3rd node and mainline everything else starting at the 4th node. At least 8 colas is the goal, ideally 16. We’ll see tho, Very surprised at how quickly the leaves pointed back up toward the light and recovered from the lollipopping/topping/LST. Any and all suggestions are welcome! Lofty goals for my first grow ever, hopefully it all works out.

Hi there mate I am thinking either a lack of calcium and magnesium could be the culprit here and/or a lot of fluctuation in ph levels can also give your leaves a discolouration When I make a mix I like to add my silica first then I ph to the desired level Then add the nutrients and adjust if needed seems to work for me 😃 Hope this helps I will watch on and see how you go

Lots of progress made this week, Almost up to four nodes on the two main branches, will top once the fifth node has formed leaves. Still only watering one gallon per week split between two feedings, but I can tell it is starting to require more per feed. Still awaiting flush week, until then just feeding with FF nutrient mix and getting very little runoff. Leaves seem to be healthy and green so I don’t feel like a “water only” feed is necessary, please advise otherwise if you feel differently. I’m just worried about over watering as it is easy to do, so I’ve been trying to be conservative with the total volume fed as well as the area of soil I saturate when I do feed. For now I’m only saturating the soil that is directly under the plant’s canopy. Also using soft flexible copper wire to train the fan leaves so as to make a satellite shape with them and absorb as much light as possible from the light above the plant. I will train the main branches as well as they develop so there is enough space for each of the eight (hopefully) fingers. This coming week will see a more concentrated nutrient solution; finally up to the amount specified on the FF schedule. Besides that I’m just training leaves and feeding Ms. E. Nigma every couple of days. I’m hoping to top again in the next week or two. We shall see! All comments/suggestions are welcome! Thanks for checking out my grow.

This is a late entry to this week, and thinking back on this part of the grow I wish i had trained the first few branches more aggressively so as to space the future fingers out more. I think at the time these pictures were taken I was still very apprehensive about over watering and damaging the branches by bending them too far. In addition m, I think I could’ve been feeding the plant an entire gallon of water each feed as opposed to a half gallon. I didn’t want to burn the leaves and as a result, I didn’t get as quick of a growth rate as would normally be expected. The leaves were always very healthy looking, but I feel like I should’ve grown faster than it did. That or I’m just impatient.

Grow Questions

Just wondering if anyone has any tips based on what they’re seeing. Should I defoliate? I’m guessing another week or two before it’s at the height I’m aiming for, then I’ll switch to 12/12. I wish the fingers were spaced out more, I feel I didn’t bend them down enough earlier on.

I think you're right bud. Give it 10-14 days before you switch and try and fill that scrog out. And then watch the magic begin, I suggest next defoliation 2/3 weeks into flowering. 🌱👍

Should I leave the white veg light on during flowering? The only reason I’m considering it is because I’ve read that the plant still absorbs small amounts of white/green light. I want to maximize the amount of light I have on it but not if it’s a waste of time or detrimental

Do it! Your veg light will also have some blues and probably some reds in it as well. Plants need all spectrum's and as long as it doesn't make your environment unstable (temps, humidity getting high) then absolutely do it.

Can anyone explain the spots in the leaves? Those are the only leaves with them. Besides it being a nutrient deficiency, my only other thought is that those leaves lie on the part of the plant that is getting morning sun. It has been foggy and dewy in the morning, maybe sun burn?

Calcium Deficiencies Appear on New or Actively Growing Leaves Calcium deficiencies tend to appear on newer or growing leaves, which means calcium deficiencies first appear on leaves where there’s rapid vegetative growth. Some of the most noticeable signs of a calcium deficiency will appear on newer or growing leaves which may display: Dead spots Crinkling Spotting / Mottling Small brown spots Stunted growth Small or distorted new leaves Curled tips Leaf die-off Affected leaves may appear green besides the spots. If you’re looking for a way to supplement calcium in your organic or soil setup, I highly recommend a product called “Dolomite Lime.” Dolomite is a good source of calcium and magnesium and can be mixed with your soil. The great thing about dolomite is it works slowly over the course of a few months. Dolomite has a neutral pH of about 7.0 and will help keep soil at the correct neutral pH range which is optimum for cannabis growth.

Hey Beast. I would say you accidentally spilled or sprayed something on them that was too strong for the leaves to handle, such as a strong nutrient solution or bleach etc. The reason being that it is all in one location and in a spray pattern. Perhaps the plant was facing the other way and a bird landed in the pool and splashed it with chlorinated water?

Almost done! I’m curious if anyone thinks it already looks done? I still see a fair amount of white hairs and I’m sure hoping the buds thicken up a bit more. But I don’t have anything to magnify the trichomes so I’m not sure if they’re ready or not. Anyone able to give advice by eyeballing the pics posted?
