Can anyone explain the discoloration of the lower leaves in the past two weeks? Any suggestions in general would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi there mate I am thinking either a lack of calcium and magnesium could be the culprit here and/or a lot of fluctuation in ph levels can also give your leaves a discolouration When I make a mix I like to add my silica first then I ph to the desired level Then add the nutrients and adjust if needed seems to work for me 😃 Hope this helps I will watch on and see how you go

Just wondering if anyone has any tips based on what they’re seeing. Should I defoliate? I’m guessing another week or two before it’s at the height I’m aiming for, then I’ll switch to 12/12. I wish the fingers were spaced out more, I feel I didn’t bend them down enough earlier on.

I think you're right bud. Give it 10-14 days before you switch and try and fill that scrog out. And then watch the magic begin, I suggest next defoliation 2/3 weeks into flowering. 🌱👍

Should I leave the white veg light on during flowering? The only reason I’m considering it is because I’ve read that the plant still absorbs small amounts of white/green light. I want to maximize the amount of light I have on it but not if it’s a waste of time or detrimental

Do it! Your veg light will also have some blues and probably some reds in it as well. Plants need all spectrum's and as long as it doesn't make your environment unstable (temps, humidity getting high) then absolutely do it.

Can anyone explain the spots in the leaves? Those are the only leaves with them. Besides it being a nutrient deficiency, my only other thought is that those leaves lie on the part of the plant that is getting morning sun. It has been foggy and dewy in the morning, maybe sun burn?

Calcium Deficiencies Appear on New or Actively Growing Leaves Calcium deficiencies tend to appear on newer or growing leaves, which means calcium deficiencies first appear on leaves where there’s rapid vegetative growth. Some of the most noticeable signs of a calcium deficiency will appear on newer or growing leaves which may display: Dead spots Crinkling Spotting / Mottling Small brown spots Stunted growth Small or distorted new leaves Curled tips Leaf die-off Affected leaves may appear green besides the spots. If you’re looking for a way to supplement calcium in your organic or soil setup, I highly recommend a product called “Dolomite Lime.” Dolomite is a good source of calcium and magnesium and can be mixed with your soil. The great thing about dolomite is it works slowly over the course of a few months. Dolomite has a neutral pH of about 7.0 and will help keep soil at the correct neutral pH range which is optimum for cannabis growth.

Hey Beast. I would say you accidentally spilled or sprayed something on them that was too strong for the leaves to handle, such as a strong nutrient solution or bleach etc. The reason being that it is all in one location and in a spray pattern. Perhaps the plant was facing the other way and a bird landed in the pool and splashed it with chlorinated water?

@Beast5650, check out my ongoing grows , I'm using leds, they weight 20Lbs and I keep them at 45cm above my plants

@CRiSPrGrow, Any experience using led lights? I’ve been able to hang mine a few inches over the plant without any burn or discoloration whatsoever. The only concern I have is the overall growth rate of the plant so far. Is it possible that keeping the light so close could stunt the growth but NOT burn the leaves or cause nutrient deficiencies? I figure after 10 weeks it should be taller than 12 inches.

I don't PH my water until after I add the nutrients, but that's because I have an idea what my PH will be every time. I have been using the same feed for a few months now. I always go supplements first, Cal-mag (to get to the desired PPM but norm 2.5-3.5ml/gal), grow/bloom mix, and then hydroguard for my reservoir beneficial bacteria. Then it's PH down cause my well water comes out at 8.0 😮. Interested to see a soil transplant to DWC!

@Beast5650, beautiful. Yea when they reach towards the sky to look like they are praying🙏 to the sun god it is a good sign!! Means you have your environment dialed in pretty well and she is happy. I used to mess with my lights so much trying to optimize them and without a PAR meter it is hard. I now leave them close to the manufacturers recommendation or even a little higher (if possible) for my Quantum Boards. It isn't ideal for veg, but flower I found it not mattering too much as long as I don't get too close and burn them.

@@motaman311, I’m glad they bounced back so well! Yea I’m excited to see how this one does in the coming weeks. I’m hoping I have the light at the correct height. The plant leaves seem to point up at it and I’ve read that this is a positive sign. No signs of leaf damage or anything, so I’ve just kept it how it is.

@Beast5650, i don't buy that the plant / roots woud die either. Thanks for the info. I am going to try it out eventually. These little girls are resillient haha. I may or may not have had a plant or two wilting over from underwatering (didnt have the water level high enough) during their first week of life then spring back up the next day like nothing happened. in the end, Veg is all about getting the plants ready for flower, So if it does set it back 1 day or even 10.. It doesnt really matter.. Veg will just take a little longer.

Wow you guys sure know how to make a guy feel good about his grow lol. Thanks for the support and advice. I’ll keep a close eye on the leaves and if they start to look too u happy I’ll defoliate very lightly. And then once I’m into flowering I’ll do one good round of defoliating, cross my fingers and let it ride 👍
