bauergrows Still germinating (2 already planted in soil).
Update: In total 4 of 6 seeds are still alive. 1 popped in 48hs and it's growing fastly. 1 died after popping out of the soil. One of them was taking more than 7 days so i've planted it in a separate discarded pot but i don't expect it to come out.

bauergrows Ladies are slow. One of them is leading (maybe the keeper?). I've got 3 out of 6 seeds germinated. Which is not a great rate. It can be my fault but I never had this bad luck before with Humboldt, but since i've got an extra package as a freebie, it's still what I expected to get.

bauergrows I've repotted because I suspect the soil in the previous pots to have been out of balance and slowly asfixiating the plants. I repotted with fresh soil, and I hope to see changes in the next week or 2. As you can see, two plants are pretty much stunted (slow slow grow and yellowing in cotyledons and tips of leaves) and the other seems okay but also slow.

bauergrows 1 of them is clearly taking the lead and has been topped
The other 2 are running a bit behind but still survived the heatwave and initial problems.
bauergrows Week 11 of veg, and all three Squirt phenos are continuing to develop nicely.
Alpha is the clear standout in terms of vigor. It's growing fast with a strong sativa-leaning structure, stretching well and showing excellent branching.
Beta is also sativa-leaning but has been noticeably smaller and slower from the start. Despite the slower pace, it's healthy and steadily putting on new growth.
Gamma appears to be a more indica-leaning pheno. I moved it indoors to compare outdoor vs. indoor growth, although the comparison won't be entirely fair since the phenotype is clearly different from the other two.
Overall, they're all progressing well, and it'll be interesting to see how their structures and flowering characteristics continue to diverge.

bauergrows The last two weeks were weeks of pure stretching. Still no signs of pre-flowers, I'm wondering how long it would take for them.

bauergrows The plant is starting to build pre-flower structures. I decided to tie down the biggest branches like 2 weeks ago to give the lower branches a bit more chance to catch up, and here we can see the results.

bauergrows Flowering is officially here. The pre-flower structures are mostly developed, and pistils are starting to grow from them. I'm enjoying the view of these plants on this sunny sunday.

bauergrows The smell is there and is definitely something like orange soda. The development of these two is a bit slower than the Orange Creampops, so I think they won't be ready before October 15th, which at these latitudes is a genuinely risky situation outdoors. Let's see how it goes!

bauergrows New week of flowering. Everything continues its natural course.
I harvested the pheno I moved indoors earlier this season, after she spent the night in colder temperatures before the cut. I chopped her a little early because I want to get an idea of how she tastes and hits, since it’s very possible that her outdoor sisters will also need to be harvested a few weeks earlier than the usual maturation point due to weather conditions.

bauergrows We're possibly entering the last full week for these beauties. Along with the Orange Creampop in the same pot, I like to call these the Oranges of Hieronymus Bosch, after the Henry Miller book of the same name that I've been reading since I got back from Cali last September.
Could the impact of this book on me have influenced my picks this year? In any case, it feels like the closing of a cycle. I'm finishing the book now, and the Oranges probably won't make it past October 12th for a few reasons, but mainly because the cold and rain are expected to become more or less nonstop by the end of the week. These plants already smell so good that I don't want to risk flying too close to the sun again, a mistake that cost me half my harvest last year.
Alpha pheno was the vigor standout from day one, tall, stretchy, branching like it had somewhere to be. Berlin’s October had other plans, so it came down at around 50 days of flower, probably two weeks short of where it wanted to finish.
The buds came out tighter than I expected for an early chop, elongated but dense, green with some purple tones, medium trichome coverage and sticky to the touch. Sizes are mixed, but the bag appeal is very good for a sativa leaning plant. The purple could come from the Blueberry Muffin side or just from the cold nights, probably both.
Dry, it’s citrus and fruit, somewhere between tangerine and grapefruit, intensity 7. There’s still a bit of green in there, but less than you’d expect after one week of cure. Once ground it moves toward tangerine, orange soda and grapefruit peel, with some funk very low in the background and maybe some berry way in the back, or maybe that’s just my imagination. Intensity goes up to 8. The dry pull confirms it: tangerine soda with normal funk, classic good quality weed with a citrus profile.
Then the fire, which is where it gets interesting. The tangerine survives but softens into a lighter soda, and a cream note shows up that wasn’t there cold, something that reminded me of the Blueberry Muffin profile, just with orange on top. The funk disappears and it gets more balanced in the mouth, with a sweet, sort-of-Tangie soda aftertaste that stays for a while. So both parents are really there. Cold it’s more Tangie, and once you heat it the Muffin side comes out from underneath. I didn’t expect that kind of sequence, and it’s really nice.
The smoke is medium leaning smooth, a bit bitter at the end, with grey ash, but all of that is cure, not genetics. A few more weeks and it should be excellent.
Effect :
I smoked it in the evening, three or four spaced hits, alone, after a long day with a lot of physical activity. I was tired and hadn’t smoked in at least six days, so take the intensity with that in mind.
It took a couple of minutes to start and then kept unfolding, very soft but continuous, until it peaked at around 20 minutes. It’s all head, with almost nothing in the body, which surprised me considering how physically tired I was. Energetic, even talkative. I ended up on the phone for about fifteen minutes, very relaxed. Maybe a bit racy, but in the sense of being active and sped up, not in a bad way.
It lasted at least two hours and came down clean, a little hungry but nothing crazy, and with no side effects I could point to. It’s the kind of high that wants you doing something, like cooking, playing music or moving around the house, or even sitting at the laptop but doing something.
If this effect repeats, it could dethrone my daytime favorites, Studio 54 and Super Silver Haze. One session isn’t enough to say that, so I’ll keep testing it as the cure goes on.

bauergrows Chopping when the rains and cold started. I couldn't risk it. I actually did find some botrytis in one single popcorn bud down there. Fortunately the rest of the plant seems intact.
It’s great to see your grow progressing so well! 🌱🔥 Keep up the fantastic work, and thank you so much for trusting us with our genetics. We really appreciate your support and can’t wait to see how it turns out! 🙌
@RasendeRollo92 Look, I don't want to blame anyone but myself. I had a similar problem with my previous Tropical Tangie plants (unlike Poddy Mouth from HSC), even though I used the same soil. It's reused soil from an organic grow that I lightly rinsed before reusing. When I transplant, I will measure the EC of the soil, as I suspect there might be an unfavorable osmotic pressure affecting the growth of the seedlings.
@RasendeRollo92, Yes, although to be honest, my real interest was just a little pheno-hunting. This year I want to have fewer players in my outdoor team. 🙂
