The day has arrived and the harvest commenced!
Lets start right there at the beginning. Harvest day i think was more stressful than waiting for my children to be born. Are they ready? Maybe? Yes? No? Give them another day, week, month. So stressful. Well it finally happened and i bit the bullet. Obviously i had to hire a helping hand. Enter my beloved!
So with a quick tutorial and prep talk i headed off and nervously snipped a large branch from the nearest bush. (Egg now officially broken) The long night began, and i kid you not what a long night the tv played for almost 3 hours before i realized it was on and quickly changed it to some music which i must admit lifted my spirits.
So it happened that i would quickly strip down the larger leaves in 2 x stages quickly taking of the large sun leaves and then following after and snipping the vast majority of anything i could get my heavy hands on leaving the smaller sugar leaves.
Now gentlemen reading this i have some fantastic advise for you now:
If you can acquire the help of a female this i found was invaluable as when i had a go at taking the sugar leaves down to just leaving the heavy trics i ended up taking huge chunks of bud even to the degree of chopping one in half 😂 My Mrs was key to this process!
Now that admission is out of the way i can also heavily recommend gloves! I again in my manliness (Stupidness) decided to just crack on regardless . And what a plonker i was before the end of the night i could barely move my hand it was that sticky.
As the night trolled on it was time to take down the last bush both excited and relieved my tent was now empty been so long since i could move around in there strange feeling.
Time check when all finished was about 3 AM tired and relieved i headed out to hang my drying rack and fill with my lovely buds.
The drying process as you may or may not know is very long and very tiresome and it really does push your patience to the limit. You just want to know WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE, after about 5 days and yes i cant believe i was that patient i had to quick dry some just so i could sample the flavor!
I was not disappointed straight away the taste on the back of the throat so smooth slight citrus hint then after a mellow fruity aroma.
.A great head high without the couch lock. Contempt i left the rest to dry thoroughly and placed them in to jars for curing.
Overall for my first grow i don't think i could of expected much better, i am slightly proud that it has come to fruition and i have learnt staggering amounts along the way. I hope to keep on growing and improving as i go along and maybe pass on a little of my wisdom along the way.
I hope if you have read this you will like it and i hope i have spread a little wisdom in your direction.
I am still awaiting some larger buds to fully dry before i weigh and post details but i will update once this is complete.
Happy Growing
@CF998,Thank you. Found some great support on here. Although i did find it a little late but about midway through my second grow and i am looking forward to a vast improvement.
Thank you, I would say a good 30% stretch. they just wanted to grow tall even after topping. Scary to think of the height had i opted to leave just the center cola.
