D.P Blueberry (regular seed)

Here we go again! After my northern lights harvest I was planning on taking a few weeks off. Well pot isn’t addictive, but growing is! This time I’m running some Dutch Passion regular blueberry’s. 3/4 beans germinated, they are 4 days old today. So far so good. The plan is to run these in coco/perlite mix with DTW auto watering using G.H nutes. I feel that I have the setup mostly dialled in and want to have this grow on auto-pilot as much as possible. I’ve added a humidity controller to the mix, and rigged up my fogger to get a few days of fog out of the reservoir. Controlling the temp and rH really helped my last grow, this will help keep it on targeted everything progresses. If these start out strong, I will do a short veg (3 - 4 weeks), topping as much as I can to control height while they veg. These are regular seeds so I might have a male in here, hence keeping short veg time. Running the general hydro nutes again. Got the bottles and they did a good job last round. Very good week. All the plants are growing at the same pace and have added a good amount of leaves. Will be topping tomorrow, which will be day 19 from germination. Will likely switch to 12/12 on the weekend. This will be week three.

Week 3 is now complete. Wow these girls are growing fast and all very much at the same rate. I topped these on 6/19 to the 4th node. They have recovered without any delay and are thriving. I’ve flipped the lights now to 12/12. Excited to see the gender, will know soon. Cheers.

All pictures were taken 6/30, one week after flip. Calling this a veg week as the plants only showed sex and pre-flower after day 6 of 12/12. Everything is moving along very well. I barely checked the plants over the last week and they are just plugging along with no issues. The only challenge is high humidity now that summer has arrived. I didn’t think it would become an issue but it is higher than I would like. It isn’t causing any issues and should come down once one plant is removed and the clones are cut, it might become more of an issue into flowering but I am confident it will drop once I start the bigger extractor fan. It is confirmed that I have 2 males and one female! All the plants are growing uniformly, with one of the males showing slightly fatter leaves than the other. The plan is to keep one male and let nature do its thing to get some free seeds while I will cut some clones from the female. The plants will be left alone for 10 days so I’m hoping the clones will take root on their own to be insurance for any disasters that could affect the plants while they are neglected. Will see how this turns out. The growth has been very good. Topped just once so I’m getting a pretty good idea of the heights. They are a bit leggy with long spaces between nodes so I will have to tie down a bit (I’ve also normally topped and train much more aggressively on other grows). They have doubled in height during the first week of 12/12, reaching 18 inches now. The males mature much quicker than the females which makes sense for pollination purposes. I was able to definitively see male pre-flowers around day 6 of 12/12 while female pre-flowers were confirmed on day 9 of 12/12. Loving the simplicity of this grow and hope they can make it 10 days on their own. Cheers!

This diary is a bit of a shit show due to vacation. These pics are from July 3. The male plant was kept in the room for pollination if the female and pollen collection. Both were very even in growth. Clones were taken as insurance in the event the watering system failed while I was gone for 10 days. Good news is no pump failure and both plants survived. Clones haven’t showed any roots yet but are still looking stong. Cheers.

Here is week 6 update with pictures from 7/14. First note, they survived 10 days without supervision. Very happy about this. I added a screen to hold down the plant. These guys stretched like crazy and I’m glad I pushed them down a bit. I managed to split the main stem on the female when I added the screen. Surprisingly she doesn’t seem too affected by this. The buds are very leggy and the leaves are very thin and long, clearly showing more sativa than indica. The buds are very small and red hairs are in already. This is from being pollinated. The male is spewing pollen like mad. I’m saving as much as possible. He is also very long and sativa looking. Will chop him down once I have enough pollen saved. I took a bunch of clone cuttings too. They haven’t rooted yet as of day 13 which is a bit surprising but they came from a young plant and are still in good shape so I will just let them do their thing and see how they turn out. She’s really filled out quite a but and the buds ten starting to look rap nice. I can see the seeds starting to swell in the plant. There are some decent tricomes forming too. Might even get some decent smokable dub from here too. This plant is showing a fair bit of its sativa side with long and skinny fans coming out of the buds. Really having fun with this grow. Have not had any roots showing up on the clones and they are now 3 weeks old, they aren’t dead and are not rooting so who knows what will happen there. Cheers!

I paid very little attention to this grow as you can see by the scrappy diary. It went as good as I could expect. Produced hundreds of viable seeds which was the goal, by weight I have about 64g of seeds from about 1/4 of the plant. Haven’t picked all the seeds from the buds as it is too sticky and takes forever. As a test I dropped three seeds, one germinated within 24 hrs the other two within 3 days. Very happy with the results. Will use what I can of the bud to make some canna oil for my go to special chocolates. I haven’t been able to pull all the seeds yet because of the sticky buds.
