Gelonade

-=-=-The Strain=-=-=- Gelonade from Sweet Seeds is Lemon Tree x Gelato #41. 50% Sativa / 50% Indica with THC around 20–26%. Basically lemon on one side, Gelato sweetness on the other. Fresh lemon, cream, some Diesel and a bit of earth underneath. On paper a balanced hybrid. In reality this thing smells fucking ridiculous. -=-=-The Grow=-=-=- Started 7/5 after around 48 hours in paper towel. First couple of weeks were simple. Water, then food, then into the 11L bucket at week 4. Topped her, defoliated, HST, LST. The usual abuse. I gave her a proper long veg this time. Full 8 weeks before moving her into 12/12. Main reason was structure, but also Barcelona summer because apparently 30C is now normal. Once flowering started she stretched properly and ended up around 120cm. She looked great until week 12 where I managed to underfeed her. My mistake. Moved her into another tent, cleaned her up, fed her properly and she recovered without drama. After that she basically just did her thing. I travelled, girlfriend took over plant duty, came back and everything was still alive. Always a good result. Toward the end the buds got properly thick and the trichomes started turning milky. Then came the usual routine. One more week. One more week. One more fucking week. By the end she was frosty AF with medium sized colas, which is about what I expected from the 11L bucket. Final flowering week was 6/Sept and that was it. Pretty straightforward grow overall. One feeding mistake, summer heat and a lot of travelling. Otherwise a very easy plant. -=-=-The Smoke=-=-=- This is where things get interesting. The moment I open the jar, the entire house smells like lemon. Not a little citrus note. LEMON. My girlfriend can be sitting on the other side of the living room and immediately asks me if I'm smoking. I'm not. I just opened the fucking jar. The smell is super pungent. Fresh lemon first, sweetness behind it, then a creamy side with a bit of Diesel and earth. The buds came out very dense, frosty and just good-looking weed all around. In a pure joint the lemon stays right in front. Sweet citrus on the inhale, cream and a little Diesel behind it. Very pleasant smoke. The high is also nicely balanced. I can smoke this and sit in front of the computer, write diaries, do admin, fuck around online and basically continue my normal day. But I am slower. Definitely slower. Not completely useless, not stuck somewhere staring at the wall. Just enough that I notice someone turned the speed down a little. For me that makes sense with the 50/50 genetics. The head stays functional, but the body gets enough relaxation to make everything a bit more chilled. Very nice smoke. Very usable. But the smell is still the star of the show. Open the jar and everybody in the house knows.
